Bansko attracts visitors with its 120 cultural monuments. The House – museum “Neofit Rilski” is one of these monuments. The house was built in 18 th century and is also known as Benina house. It was proclaimed architectural and historical monument with national significance.

Neofit Rilski ( born 1793 ) is the patriarch of the Bulgarian education and enlightenment. He studied murals in The Art School in Bansko and his teacher was the founder of the school – Toma Vishanov. The whole life of Neofit Rilski was devoted to the science. When we talk about him, we can call him – an artist, a poet, an architect, a musician.

The native house of Neofit Rilski – Beninata house is a typical example of the Bansko’s architecture from the end of 17 and the beginning of 19 th century. Nowadays the house is a museum. There is an ethnographic and documental exhibition in the authentic preserved house. The exhibition exposes the precious from Neofit Rilski’s legacy – letters, photos and literature materials. This materials is present from over 400 documental and corporeal materials.
The House – museum is open every day: 9.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 – 18.00.
