Please ignore the bad comments left by idiots expecting 5 star treatment in a 3 star resort. Me, my wife and 3 year old son had a wonderful time. Never ran out of things to do. The resort was a safe place for my son. Very clean. Yes some things wernt as good as they could have been but this was the best value for money holiday I have ever been on. As for Bulgaria, get out on some trips. Its a fantastic coutry full of things to do and not once did me or my family feel at all unsafe. All in all Id go back like a shot for a wonderful holiday that doesnt break the bank and is only a 3 hour flight away.

We (my son and I) just came back from a most wonderful holiday in Elenite Villas. It was great for the kid and, accordingly, for me. Plenty of places to have fun at and things to do in order not to get bored. We are thinking of going back some summer with the whole family. The only thing we perhaps did not like so much was that when they were serving watermelon or cherries at the canteen, some people rushed to get some as if the Third World War had just started.

Went may 2008 weather was really hot only rained twice in two weeks room was basic but very clean and cleaned every day not any problems with wasps but grass smelt of cats until grass was cut for start of busy period food was really good first week but portions got smaller as it got busy beach beautiful and plenty for kids to do animation staff always on hand and very polite as where most staff.When first arrived got picked up by buggy driven to reception and onto room did not have to carry cases they did it for you they do expect a tip going back next year as kids loved it and so did i

This is a holiday for families, nightly entertainment in June held in Animation hall for children, all entertainment was only for children therefore this holiday should not be sold to couples without children. It is an excellent holiday for families plenty to do, new 10 pin bowling opened when we were there. Everywhere on complex spotless.

Group of 10 made up of 5 adults 1 teenager and 4 children. Great location rooms basic but clean just what you need for 2 weeks. food not great and you have to fight for it with all the other tourists who have no manners. big problem with wasps they where everywhere 3 of our party got stung. It would not put me off going back thoughas the location and oeace of mind with the kids was worth it.

Over all very good holiday, but photo's in holiday books incorrect.
No longer beach pool, building bar in its place.
Building site in main building. Children's area being made into Bar and bowling ally.
Food could of been better, not so many chips, (nearly every meal). Staff could not cope well when village became half full, long queues for food. Cold buffet in wrong place. Hot food devided between two different places.
Bar staff very offten ignored women waiting to serve men first, several times rude.

There is no entertainment for both kids and adults the hotels have damp all over the walls and have made my self family and friends ill the bartenders are rude the food is poor and not cooked properly i want a refund!

Accommodation clean and tidy. Only a short walk from the beach. Beach clean with many life guard well manned life guard stations.
Plenty of sunbeds for all. Weather really hot. Only ventured out of resort once. Very relaxing indeed.
However, be warned that in the height of the season you can only obtain drinks from the Elenite holiday village, whereas the two hotels situated either side of Elenite can use any bar.
Entertainment at Elenite very sparse. Either cram yourself into the Animation (didn't bother ourselves), or sit lonely in the Elenite Disco watching Bingo and a half hearted kareoke. By midnight all is really quite, so not for those seeking a wild night life.
Very save and friendly. Staff terrific. Very clean. Food buffet style. There are a la carte, but you have to queue up before 10am to book your table. Set sittings for 6pm and 8pm.
Take a board game, packs of cards etc for those quite evenings with the kids. There is an amusement arcade (be it small) and some pool tables (sometime a long wait). Not muchj else for them to do in the evening otherwise.
Would definately consider going back again.

We were very happy with our accommodation and got used to all the stairs by the end of the week. We enjoyed all our meals in the buffet restaurant and although we didn’t get to use the al a Carte restaurants, everyone we spoke to said how good they were. The beach was clean and safe with plenty of sunbeds for all.
I understand that the Village is not suitable for young teens and twenty something’s that want to down as many beers as possible in as short time as possible and then party all night, but it certainly suited us. We went on three excursions from the Hotel, the shopping trip to Varna we found to be a waste of time and money. It was much more fun shopping at Nessebar and highly recommended, although credit cards are not accepted at the vast majority of shops.
The picturesque Bulgaria trip was a bit too long and by omitting the trip to the Textile Museum, which we found very boring, the rest of the day would have been more pleasurable, especially the chair lift ride up the mountain. The Bulgarian Folk evening was good and well worth the money. We hated Sunny Beach, although it would probably suit the younger element, mentioned earlier who enjoy clubbing and MacDonald’s etc.
There is a lot of building work going on all around Sunny Beach, which looks like becoming an enormous tourist area very soon. I sincerely hope that Elenite Village stays separate from that as too much more building would spoil it.

Have just come back from a villa at elenite holiday village. Very hot, very clean, staff very friendly - if you are polite to them they cannot do more for you. Food was good, my 9 year old daughter enjoyed it. THe animation hall is good fun for all the family - just get there early. We stayed on the resort all week and never got bored, loads of water sports during the day and a mini bunji for the kids in the evening. Shops are really cheap, but the shop worker do tend to follow you around. Would definately go back there again.

we stayed in the villas at elenite holiday village, nice + clean but no air conditioning so very warm at night. lots of lizards around so dont sleep with your windows open! plenty to do in the evenings if you're under 12 years of age, the animation hall gets very busy with families and children so you need to get there early if you want a seat, its very much like a youth club. shops and facilities in the village were very good, very cheap get lots of bargains. staff were really friendly, always had a smile on their faces. food was sometimes cold but you have plenty of resteraunts in the village to choose from. if you go on any of the trips we recommend "kahns tent", you get a meal and an evening of entertainment. children can go but its ideal for adults, a fantastic night out.
if you're worried about going to elenite holiday village, dont be, we had a great time

Don't worry about any of the bad reviews it's really good. They are continually improving things, trying to make your holiday better.
Really clean, food is sometimes cold, entertainment is good.
Great for families.
Hope you have as good a time as we did.

Arrived back from Elenite Holiday Village on 21st May 05 with a nice tan. Me (21) and my boyfriend (26) were worried about all the bad reviews we had read before going out there, but we shouldn't have worried because it was really good.
The only complaints we did have were that when we first arrived at about 2am there was not enough bell boys to take people to their villas. In the end we all just went and found our own rooms. The food was sometimes cold but it was always cooked, I think it was more to do with if you went down to eat late. We ate in the Talyana restaurant and the Sunshine restaurant, so there's plenty of food to choose from. The pool's are really cold, so you have to be brave when you get in. We went on the Lazy Day Cruise which was really good, just a bit windy. You sail round the coast going to Sunny Beach and Nessabar, and they put on a really nice lunch for you. The entertainment is good as well, something for all ages.
Take advantage of the coach service that the hotel offers, it costs 8 levs each for a return. It's loads cheaper than a taxi!
The maids are always cleaning at all hours in the day. We had a really nice villa right on the beach, so we were really lucky.
We probably wouldn't go back again only beause it's more family orientated, and there's nothing to do after midnight unless you go the 30 mins into Sunny Beach.
Highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going, great value for money.

We too were redirected here as our original hotel "was not ready/up to standard" depending on who you talked to. Overly long coach journey (2.5 hours or so) from Varna.
Arrived at about 1.30 am, given 'packed supper' in a paper bag, and found our 'interconnecting rooms' were nearly 40 feet apart!
Food was fairly good, hot, and enough of it. The 3 bookable restaurants were of better quality than the main buffet.
Not much for children over 11 to do at night - although the internet room - 5 levs (approx £2) /hour was a definite bonus!
Tried the animation hall once - and only once! First Choice's own team did their best but again it wasn't geared much for the older children.
Once you got used to the cleaners being around what appeared to be 24/7, especially in the ladies (according to my other half) you could appreciate the effort that went into keeping the place clean.
Rooms were clean and adequate - although airconditioning would be a definite advantage.
Pool had to be drained once (it looked more like pea soup one morning!) but only out of action for 1 day.
Staff fairly friendly & helpful.
Definitely not designed for the less nimble with all the stairs and unlit paths.
My main complaint is a general one - why do I have to pay full adult price for a 15 year old when he can't use all the facilities (e.g. the bars) fully?

We stayed at the elenite holiday village and had a great time although the food was sometimes cold we got over it as the rest of the holiday was fab.
We had our own private beach which is always a bonus

Always around the pool area at the royal park which is literally next door and were also in the Irish bar inside the hotel which you can use the facilities of. Because we went this was close to the end of the season I thought that the reps and staff would'nt be that bothered but I was proved wrong when I got there as they were always full of life and happy to help in any situation. The weather was also really hot
We got sunburned so do take your suntan lotion and keep on re-applying in the afternoon it does get really hot. Every where you looked they was always a cleaner around the complex trying there hardest to keep it looking nice and clean. take something with you as well to keep the bees away as they are everywhere I found it real hard to sit down and chill without them coming near me and they do sting so take some ointment

Having read all the reports on the Holiday Village, we were a little apprehensive on going.But I can reassure anyone who is going there that the complex is fine ,in a superb location,clean and tidy, constantly being cleaned and superb for kids.We found the food to very nice- my daughter who is 8 is a typical finnicky 8 year old, but she always found something, particularly the hot dogs during the day!!All in all , a very pleasant stay and will definately go again.DONT WORRY!!!!!

We arrived at around 1.30 in the morning and were given bags of water and fruit at reception when we checked in. First problem - one group of our party were allocated a room at least a 3 minute walk away from the rest of us. Followed porter on a seven minute hike to our rooms. Rooms smelt alittle damp but seemed clean enough.
Next morning went out onto balcony which had three birds nests and a large amount of bird mess down walls etc.
Outside on walkway paint was peeling very badly.
Noticed balcony not working and plug socket hanging out of wall, this was underneath dressing table so not too much of a problem. My friends room had a cracked balcony door, a shower which had to be fixed with a peg, no bath plug and a phone which did not work.
My daughters room had a cracked balcony door. None of the above was recitifed during our two week stay. The family who were allocated a room nearer to reception decided not to move as it was larger and nicer than ours.
Went down to breakfast - eggs, bacon, tomatoes, cereal, cold meats, - plenty of choice just the toasters take forever.
Lunch and dinner were okay no-one got a tummy upset and enjoyed the meals in the Bulgarian and Sunshine restaururant. Found out that we could eat breakfast in the Sunshine restaurant which was quieter and very pleasant.
Pizza at the beach okay but have limited it to 2 slices per order, also did this with the drinks at the end of our first week.
Rooms kept clean with towels when we needed them, sheets were a little stained.
The resident entertainment team were very good and worked really hard although the animation hall is a death trap. One night we realised the back doors were locked - if there had been a fire - I will leave the rest unsaid but there must of been around 700+ people in that building with one set of double doors as an exit!!
It does get cold in the evening so take a jacket with you.
Guest relations were a waste of time. Did not want to know, when my daughters crack in her balcony door got worse and had to be taped up we were informed that it had not been broken before we had arrived and would cost us 60 lev!
Resort was very safe which is important when you have children and would let them wander off to get their own ice-cream drinks etc.
Think the vodka is watered down as I can't drink more than 5 single measures at home and there I was drinking 10 (of what appeared large) measures and still doing the 70 steps and 7 minute walk to my room.
If you are still going to the Holiday Village ask for a room near to reception and report and defects in the room to your rep.
Overall we did have an enjoyable time and the children loved it.
Beach clean and water lovely, sometimes there was seaweed and jellyfish.
Pools very cold and not kept very clean.

the fact that i didn't get dutch animation didn't bother for me because i know some languages.
but i must say that i have very much enjoyed the beachvolleyball and the waterball!!

I loved elenite holiday village. It wasnt as good as last year, but that was because the weather was not so good! The food was lovely, very healthy, and escpecially nice in the elenite restaurant in which you have to book into, pork, lamb, beef, the works!! What also made it worse was that the english first choice have joined, when i went last year it was only bulgarian entertainers and it was much better. The shows with the bulgarian animation team were fantastic, they were amazingly choreographed and very entertaining on the other hand the english entertainment was quite poor, it was a really bad example of how the british act. Silly games like filling your mouth with marshmellows and saying fluffy bunny, laying on top of men you dont even know. If i wanted that of course i would have gone to Butlins. Does anyone who has commented on this website speak bulgarian??? I dint think so. The male bulgarian animators where complete gentlemen and sat and drank with us a few of the nights and the women where also very polite. They were very educated and if there english was not as good they could either speak german or french fluently!!
When we where having tea at the royal bay hotel we did not leave our seats for the waiters served us constantly!
It was so good, i will be going back next year! And i loved the bulgarian animators so much i am keeping in touch with them!
So if you want to find enlish reps every where go on holiday to ibiza or go to butlins, but as far as i can see this place was ruined when the english animators arrived. Apart from funky Phill he was great!!

Having been on quite a few all inclusive deals, I would like to think I can give an honest opinion of the holiday for you to judge.
Flight & transfer, no problem, first choice have it well organised. The resort is on big village with two hotels at each end, with appartments in the middle. Going in July, there were thousands there and you have to get use to the crowds, 50/50 Brits & Germans.
Accomodation was basic but OK, but we were 156 steps from the beach, so after a few days, your legs were feeling tired (especially if you make the trip 4 or 5 times a day). The resort looks tatty with many hazards to avoid due to lack of maintenance and the grounds maintenance was poor (even the weeds had died!). Food was Ok at times and we tended to eat well when there was a good meal, thinking tomorrow would be poor. Higene was terrible, glasses, plates & cutlery not being washed properly and many marks were evident. Drinks are in abundence and a large Brandy was a LARGE BRANDY!, so it was easy to forget about the problems around you.
Entertainment was very good especially from the First Choice reps, unfortunatley if you watched their outdoor show, you had to get use to the smell of sewers from the local drains. Had loads of power cuts in bad weather and the phones went down for 4 days at one time (by the way, no payphones). One inportant point, if you do have a phone bill to pay (from the phone in your room) beware, the hotel only accepts CASH, no plastic, as we found out on the last day (no one tells you this).
Beach is lovely, but buisy & the sea is great. Pools are very buisy and tend to to get overcrowded (3 in all including a kiddies pool). There are a few shops to buy essentials & gifts (Vodka being about £3 a litre!) and stalls that sell other novalties. If you are unlucky to bump into one of the large snakes (as we were), we were told they are not poisonous (but they would say that, so beware), other creepy crawlies were tollerable, (few small lizards, snakes and the odd fly, no mozzies). In all, we tried to make the most of a resort that we feel needs a good refurbishment and hygene and health & saftey is not very good.
Would we go back, definatley not until the resort is brought upto standard and I am suprised that first choice & thompson had included it in their brochures. We did hear of many complaints from other guests regarding other issues, but we can only comment on our own experience. The choice is yours, its cheap, but we felt we were getting a poor deal for our holiday and we have all come back with 'dicky tummies'!

stayed there june 2004, 1st impressions not so good, 1st day change of heart, very nice, clean, food medioka for a 3* ! Didnt like the arena v hot and v buzy, but ther are other places to drink and relax on site. Lovly beach, pool, views, people run the place down, in my opinion if the weathers bad they get board, i liked the complex and bulgaria.
Make sure you eat b4 going to airport no cafe in departures only bar, crisps, marsbars

went to this holiday village in june 2003 first impressions unsure and after a couple of days we were really enjoying it food wasnt too bad but remember your in a different country and things are cooked differently maybe a few to many steps on the complex if you have a pushchair or pram but apart from that definatly go again enjoy!!

I have recently return from The bugarian holiday village-Elenite, and my opinion of it is great. It was the best holiady that i have ever bin on. There is loads of activities and there is an animation team that are ace(especially pazo and poochi ;) ). I enjoyed it that much that i didnt want to come home. And i really hope that i can return to the elenite holiday village again. (The entertainment is also exellent and the best that i have ever seen) (Opinion from a 14 year old girl)

elenite holiday village is the best place i have ever ever been to. The animation team is great and entertainment is amazing nd all in all it is an amazing beautiful place from myself a teenagers oint of view m mums point of view ad my litle brothers point of view.
