10 of us went sept 07 it was brilliant food drink entertantment gr8 i got my room changed with no problem (low floor) we've been there2 years running the only down fall was the bbq meat not done properly but the holiday was gr8 we would go again bus ride to sunny beach not to be missed

Quite simply the worse holiday we have ever been on. If you want bland, cold food and the constant feeling,\' if I eat this will I get an upset tummy\'. Rude local and english rep staff and very poor entertainment. Plus the only thing that is all inclusive is the terrible food and cheap watered down drinks, then this is the place for you. The only plus side was the lovely beach and returning back to Manchester. Take our advice, please don\'t stay in this holiday. It\'S NOT WORTH THE MONEY AND FIRST CHOICE REPS ARE HOPELESS AND NOT HELPFUL. Thankgod for Sunny beach, where I wished we had of stayed. I can\'t believe First Choice still continue to advertise this holiday package.

holiday from hell x was ill 10 days out of 14 pool was freezing couldnt go in it ,food is same stuff every day sloop staff really didnt care just srugged shoulders so rude , i was so ill had to see doctor at airport my daughter was bored and ill not alot for 16 year olds to do .

Date 23 rd August 2008.Just got back from Royal Park Hotel.We all had a great holiday food was very good and lots of choice.Room were big, clean clean towels everyday,beds were made every day.Boys enjoyed the waterpark swimming in the sea and the pool.Also we felt it a safe place for our 9&10 year old sons.All staff were friendly and happy.Don;t cancel this holiday go and have a great time.

just got back had a great time hotel clean friendly staff food not bad but did have tummy upsets for two days blame the lunch barbque the entertainment should be all inclusive but we had to pay extra for most of it saying all that we would go back we loved the location.

No its not a place for teenagers at all!!!!!! Im just back today and I was bored for the full 2weeks as was the other girls n boys i had met. nothing for us to do at all, unless u want to pay to go into sunny beach everynight. May aswel just stay in sunny beach.

i have just returned from 2 weeks at the royal park,i have never stayed at such a disgusting hotel in my life. itis filthy and the staff are so rude and unhelpful,the pool area is filthy and smells also the staff are just totally ignorant. i cannot believe its rated 4 star, iwould rate it 1 star and thats being generous.i have been to bulgaria before and love the country and the people.

not woth going just for some sun,went all inclusive with open mind but would never go again. All free things pathetic,food is terrible[never seen so many adults eating just chips and ketchup] with all other food unedible,plates are sandwitch size so never enough,beer weak,even ice cream poor as it was never frozen. Had 2 power cuts[5th in 3 weeks]so all foood cold,no back up so totol darknesss.Hotel pool dirty,only some lifts work. Entertainment non exsistent,kids board constantly. U have to pay at the best beach bars, free stuff in the shack bars with constant big queues.STAFF all like manuel out of faulty towers,either no uderstand or ignore spillages etc. Do yourself a favor LOOK ELSEWHERE.

This is the worst hoilday iv been on. The food and smell is that bad you can not even go into eat. If anyone has watch or read the paper this week 18-7-08 they will not go there.
We went full board and spent £1000 pound eating out for the two weeks.The week I put my complaint in there was 122 put in that week. that should tell you what the place is like.

Food was shocking. Safety deposit box was so secure that my girlfriend could pick up the shelf is was fastened too and walk off with it.
A truely dreadful holiday, if i wasn't working i could go on and on and on.

We had two weeks in the Royal Park at the beginning of June. It could be a good resort as the hotel itself is very nice and clean with a fantastic location. However the staff need a few lessons in customer care. They are miserable and lazy people who don't know how to smile or be helpful. Everything was too much trouble for them. The food was only okay in the main restaurant but there was always something you could find that was decent. The main problem in the restaurant was trying to find a clean table. Unless you were there at opening which was too early for us to eat, there was never a clean table. If you could find one without dirty dishes on the linen was disgusting. The Barbecue restaurant was the best option if you could get booked in for the evening, but you could eat here every lunch time without booking. The snacks availabe were just junk food, pizza, hot dogs and kebabs although you could get toasties at the cafe bar which were a better option. The entertainment for adults was bad but the kids clubs were good.
All in all we won't be going back.

Just returned from 2 week holiday, what a nightmare!!! We read reviews before we went but didnt listen, just thought people were being fussy... how wrong can you be!! Lets begin.....
When we first arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the lit-up hotel and surrounding areas looked, again as we walked into the reception it looks amazing and definatley has the wow factor. We had to initially wait an hour and a half to check in, at 5am when we had been travelling all night, with over tired children! when we did eventually get to our rooms, the standard dropped. The room consisted of a two single beds and a sofa bed, which was really hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. With the bed pulled out there was no room for movement, however the view was beautiful as we had a sea-view.
The food was discusting, it was all cold and dried up with uneaten breakfast sausages being turned into lunch or evening meals. The bread was all stale and the rolls were that hard you couldnt even cut into them. The childrens food was stored in two breadbin looking things, and there was one choice per day, there were also no plates by the childrens food so you had to q to get a plate from the main eating area first! They constantly ran out of cups, glasses, cutlery especially spoons... one more than 1 occasion my 3 year old had to eat his icecream with a fork! The restaurant staff were rude and arrogant and made us feel extremely unwelcome, as did most of the staff, most staff obviously didnt want to be there and if we asked for a drink or food at the bars, it seemed like it was too much trouble for them to serve you, their attitude was discusting. The reps again were very rude and advised the staff in the hotel work for about 40p per day which is why they are so miserable! we later found out that this wasnt true, although they dont get paid overly well, it isnt such a meager amount, and this doesnt justify their attitudes either. I have travelled to a few poorer countries and always found the staff to be exceptionally freindly. This cannot be said for the bulgarians, especially the security staff... whilst we were there we saw a couple of alarming incidents and heard about many more. We witnessed security tazor a young man and punch a 15 year old girl in the face this was all to do with the "towel scam" which is becoming very well known about. It can only be explained as extortion, peoples passposrts were held and they were physically manhandled if they refused to hand over very large amounts of money for apparent towels that had gone missing from their rooms whilst on holiday. The reps knew all about this problem and told us that the only advise they can give is that if we were asked to pay any money for whatever reason to do so as there was nothing they could do to help. (they had no control in this hotel). The hotel is run by the mafia and the security guards were part of the russian mafia, fc reps also told us that it was not illegal for them to hit/ punch or even tazrs anyone and as we are in their country we had to do exactly what they said. we did at certain times fear for our safety, these occasions were mainly on a friday and monday night when the english and irish were leaving.
the entertainment was advertised as being inclusive as this was an all inc holiday, we soon discovered that we had to pay for all eve entertainment even some of the childrens. The worst example was a pirate show that had been advertised as free (the kids entertainment was so appauling as it was not in english) our children were really looking foward to it as every night had been spent playing cards or walking on the beach, we queued for ages and could hear raised voices and commotion and discovered that they were charging 20 lev per child for entry! we had 4 children with us and couldnt afford this hence our children couldnt go in along with alot of other distraught children whose parents were in the same position as ourselves. as we had paid for an all inclusive we hadnt taken a great deal of spending money which was running out fast due to the fees for everything.. My 3 year old son spent the next hour in tears as he'd been so excited about seeing the pirates.
the good points of the holiday were the weather was beautiful as was the beach and most pools, the staff and people were awful so i would advise anyone who has booked to cancel as firstly you will at some stage fear for your own and your kids safety and you will spend double what youve paid out for the holiday.

Got back from Royal Park early hours Tuesday morning. My kids aged 7 & 5 both had a great time. The hotel was nice & clean, the room was fine for how much time we spent in it. The food was ok but could have been a bit hotter. The overall holiday was really nice.

The hotel looks great. we had a family room with the separate side room for the kids. the room was huge which was ideal for the kids, TV in the kids room had no socket to plug in an ariel so that never worked, our TV was dead when we arrived and it took 4 complaints to reception and me walking a manager up to our room to get it sorted. The air con never worked but i couldnt find anyone who had a working unit. the only english TV channel was BBC world news.
The 2 pools that are with this hotel are okay but both were freezing. The area around the pool was usually full even though the hotel was only at one third full occupancy, i would imagine that in august its a complete nightmare.
The food is not brill. The buffet restaurant was always busy and i dread to think what its like in the summer, i was usually able to find something to eat but it gets a bit repetitive after a few days, its regularly stone cold and quite often the chicken was not cooked.
there are 3 other restaurants that you can use, the first is Talyana which is a BBQ style restaurant and was not bad, again watch for the raw chicken, the second is a Bulgarian style restaurant called Sozzapol (not sure of the spelling), we did not eat here but heard good reports about the food, the last one is in the 5 star hotel next door, its called Sunshine and is only open from 10pm till 11pm (great idea that) this one has waiters and you get to choose from a menu. All 3 of these need to be booked in advance, although Sunshine was always empty, probably because of the opening times.
Ther are many snack bars around for hotdogs, kebabs (or as the sign says kepaps), pizza and sandwiches. the only place on the whole site for ice cream is in the back of the coffee shop. the poster in reception says that there is a baked potato stall next to reception but no one could find that. another thing i find strange is that there is nowhere to get food after 9:30.
we found ourselves going accross the road to Pacos Bar, dont be put off by the fact it looks like it was built by robinson cruso, its a great place and opens from 4pm till whenever they feel like closing.
The entertainment was awful. the ampitheatre was closed for repair so the only place for entertainment was the animation hall.
my kids will usuall watch any old rubbish but even they complained about it, imagine getting the krankies and the chuckle brothers together, getting them drunk and watching them, well thats the quality of the entertainment.
the kids clubs are good but only take 24 kids so the chances of getting them in is pretty slim, also some of the clubs have to be paid for (6 levs for the chocolate club for example)
The reps (first choice) are a waste of space, they are only there to sell the product (trips) all of which are VERY overpriced.
The trip to Khans Tent is 89 levs per adult and kids are 54 levs, total for our family would be 286 levs, for that you get a coach to the dinner show and a 4 course set meal. if you go to Pacos Bar he will arange a taxi for you to go, entry is free and you can choose from a menu, cost of taxi 60 levs return plus food 28 levs, total of 88 levs, so we saved 198 levs on this trip alone.
all the other trips can be booke else where, we found the best place to be at a travel shop called Condor, its about 100 yards past the sunny beach bus stop, all the trips are much cheaper and are exactly the same including being picked up by coach from the hotel.
the water park is quite good, drinks and food are expensive, and for god sake dont break anything, they wont let you leave till its paid for.
now this is where it gets scary....... THE GREAT ROYAL PARK TOWEL SCAM....... we had heared about a great many people being charged for missing towels when they tryed to check out, so we kept count of ours each day and if they were incorrect we would go to reception and ask for a replacement, after being accused of leaving it on the beach or by the pool we would get another one. when we were checking out 2 familys were being asked for payment for missing towels, one lady, staying with 3 kids was being told she had to pay 155 levs, she had no money left and could not pay and why should she as it was a mistake,
within half an hour 6 big Russian (not Bulgarian) men arrived in reception and were following her around intimidating her. some of the male guests tryed to intervine in this and they became very theatening. the gates to the resort were locked and no one was alowed in or out. she was told that she could not leave the hotel until she had paid, this went on for about 2 hours until we had a whip round and paid it.
while this was going on the reps (Alan and Vlado) did absolutly nothing to help, saying it was not their problem, after a stand up row with some of the guests Alan admitted that this was a known problem and a regular occurance.
quite why first choice still use this hotel if this goes on, and why they dont warn people is beyond me.
when you book out they try and cut your wrist band off, DO NOT let them . if you are on an early in the morning flight it means that you could be sat around for over 12 hours with nothing to eat or drink. you cant even go to Pacos because they wont let you back in without a wrist band.
this hotel is classed as 4 star but is no more than a 2 at best.
im just really glad i didnt go in the summer.

Just got back from Royal Park Hotel and can't understand wjat the problem is the food was standard as you would expect the same as when you go to spain etc.the hotel was clean all the time the cleaners were 24/7 by the toilets the restaurant was clean allo the pools were clean and the wqater park was clean.the only problem was slippy floors because they were cleaned that often,the entertainment could have been better but i am glad i didn't cancel

I went to Royal Park July 07. I went with my husband and 2 kids aged 6 and 9. When we first got there we was a little scared as we read many bad reviews. We was first picked up by a first choice kids rep on our coach, she was very nice. Once we arrived at the hotel, we thought WOW, it looks very nice at night time. In the morning we went to the Welcoming meeting where we was welcomed by all the reps who seemed very nice. We learnt alot from this meeting and glad we went. The kids rep also took the kids out so they wudnt get bored.
The Food:
The food here is eadable and no you wont be loosing a stone in a week. There is plenty of choice, at all times of the day. Yes its repeatitive if you eat chips everyday, but if you change what you eat than its fine. Most days we wud have a ncie salad for lunch, as its too hot to eat big meals. The food isnt great but its the same as any other med place.
The Hotel:
If you like sun bathing and getting in the pool, than its great if you like that, It has a big pool, and yes its very cold btu when its 30-32 everyday its just what you need. There is also a nice beach if you fancy a change and its all very diffrent than the pool.
The entertainment:
If you like joining in with games during the day than its just for you. The first choice ents have things going on from 10.30 till 4 everyday and it is actually very fun.
For the kids:
As I said before I went with my two kids 6 and 9. On the 2nd day they wanted to go and try the kids club, and the LOVED IT. The best bit was that kid reps. The made the kiddies feel so great and they loved it. they ended up going everyday for 2 weeks.
I aint going to say this place is Brillaint because it does have its bad points just like eveywhere, but it is good value for money.
The reps aint as bad as what every one says yes they get people shouting in the faces everyday, so what do u expect if they aint smiling 24 7. I found out that they get paid £1.70 an hour, and for the work they do they really are good. At the end of the day they are only humans, give them a break

Me and my boyfriend visited here last June. we were looking for somewhere quite cheap to go however after seeing this hotel managed to persuade him to go for a nice 4* hotel for a treat. I don't think iv ever regretted anthing as much in my life, on arrival the hotel looked amazing all beautifully lit up. things went very downhill from there. We were shown to our room which was on a floor where not even the lifts went up to which we found was odd, the room was a shambles. i couldnt even see from the balcony as there was some huge machine in the way, the bathroom didnt even have a blind and the window was huge so had to have a shower in front of the rest of the world. we soon found out from the receptionist we were in the workers quarters due to overcrowding. soon me and my boyfriend got food poisoning and were in bed for 3 days which is not fun in a room that smells of damp and doesnt even have a tv that works with terrible stomach cramps, sickness and so on. in the end i was taken to the local medical centre and put on a drip and had tests done to confirm that i had caught a urine infection and food poisoning, to make my bf feel a bit better we arranged for him to have a medical massage at the local recommended (by the reps) spa. another mistake, the cream they used caused his leg to come up in the most horrible rash iv ever seen and become infected, these are just a couple of problems i had. please dont think we are just a couple of typical moaners because we were really not, the nearest pharmacy is in a different town. just to finish beware when in sunny beach when catching the local buses, i was pickpocketed and had all my money, my phone and my camera taken by local gypsies, when i reported this to the rep they said this was a common problem. Why were we not warned then??? if any one has any problems whilst ur there make sure u get evidence of these problems and pursue your complaints! We are! Anyone looking to visit Bulgaria i would advise you to not go to this hotel and maybe go to the other side of Bulgaria to Golden sands.

me my husband our 3 year old son and 6 year old niece booked last min deal for 14days we were just under 1500 great.
then we looked up this web site to read up on the hotel.we sat laughing at reveiws and thought never mind your hoilday what u make it.
we arrived at the royal park hotel and wow it looked great but we have learned if the hotel looks great the food might not be.
we got taking to room looked nice and big.
the next day meeting with reps got to know a little bit more about the place and book trips. we booked lazy day trip and bulgaria night something to look forward to.
the first day just chilled and noseied about the food was great that day and we thought prefect.so the tues great wed lazy day trip great go on boat get drunk do a bit of fishing meet nice people that were not at hotel and we aiso meet a couple from ireland and there 3 kids that were at our hotel.went back to hotel sat at pool were we meet a couple from newcastle and there 6 kids.that night went to irish bar met a couple from london and a couple from fife with there we lass and the irish couple from boat.the kids all played and all us adults had a laugh.thurs sat at pool with the fife couple the newcstle couple and the kids played.wow great hoilday great people but how wrong was i going to be .
fri took all 4 adults 8 kids to mcdonalds in sunny beach chilled out. that night is when it took a turn to hoilday from hell!!!!!
my husband and the newcastle lad went to the nightclub in the hotel after leaveing were set about by 2 bugaria guys the nxt thing police jumped from bush and arrested my husband he was taking to the sunny beach police station were they beat him up and wre rude to him for the nxt 15 hours.no food or water giving to him.the nxt thing hes in hotel looking for money fearing his life he had to pay 1500 for freedom to the guys who started fight at hotel the night before . set up 1 the police were there straight away its a good 20min drive away 2 the bulgaria guys being at police station waiting for a cut of money 3 police taking cut of money 4 the russian mafia guy being there to take cut of money.the newcastle guy had to pay the same on the monday and they were all there again waiting for there cut?
so we learned no one higher than russian mafia they own all or most of hotels flats buinesses etc the have the run and it is the most unsafe corurpt place.so my advice is DONT GO THERE UNLESS U THINK UR HARD ENOUGH!!!

if you read i waterfield's comments 24th sept 2007 every thing that they have said is true when we arrived only 2 rooms not 3 paid for sea viev and interconnecting as we had taken in laws with us but all on different floors told no more rooms sister and brother in law had to share our room until one was available but filming bulgaria next top modle at hotel they all had their rooms all together as they were staying at the hotel, partitioned some of the restaurant of for these modles and their fans,kept awake most of the night with the film crew moving their equipment around the landing, we had glasses from the bar they were taken off the bar dumped in dirty water and the filled with so called lager,this made us have up set tummies for 2 days, meals if you had it for dinner you had it for evening meal if you wanted it warm you had to be the first in,they run out of beer ended up buying from it from the hotel shop, should have gone to skeg.

just got back hotel was ok food absolutely horrific glad the kids wernt with us as they would have starved, had food poisioing for 2 days before leaving resort reps were a waste of time and full of shit (obviously they didnt eat here)!!!!excuses about a viral infection in the resort if you dare to go take pleanty of medicines with you as there is no pharmacy on site the nearest 10km away in sunny beach glad to be back home and trying to put weight back on instead of buying a new wardrobe!!!!!! save your money and go elsewhere

For all of you that have been reading the bad reveiws and are worried please dont be!i cant start to tell you what bad state i was in with worry before going to this hotel i contacted ABTA a solicitor and first choice on many occasions for advice and to see if i could get my holiday changed but no joy,and i am so glad we did go there it was fantastic and NO TONY i am not a fc rep!! me my husband and 3 children aged 7 9 and 12 had a fab time plenty for kids to do fantastic kids clubs thanks to aman nicky and amy,Food was fine more than enough choice as we were so worried we went vegatarian for two weeks but we certanily did not starve!the hotel was lovely like a palace very clean, the water park was amazing my kids had plenty to do for the whole two weeks witch ment we could relax and enjoy our holiday to.
The hotel is set in what they call a little village behind closed gates you had plenty with in this shops cafe spa etc it was very safe my 12 year old was able to walk around with friends with out any worry.
We did not wont to come home we were certainly not expecting what we got i do wonder with some of these bad reveiws if we went to the same place? maybe there was a problem in high season but i sure there is not now we saw nobody ill or heard any one complain,i would just say dont drink any of their water the water in the resturant, so i was told is tap water bottled water is so cheap its no hard ship.What we did see alot of is people making pigs of themselfs going up for seconds and thirds also with drinks to, maybe these are the ones that get the bad stomachs!!
What i have learnt from all this is not to take any notice of these web sites!!

On arrival in the dead of night this hotel looks very impressive, one of if not the best looking I have ever arrived at on a package holiday. All lit up and the water park within the grounds gave a very impressive and exciting start to a much needed holiday.
The reception area again when you arrive in the dead of night is also very impressive, and we have never had bell boys before.
We were very happy with the room (5th floor) and the sea view was fantastic.
This unfortunately is pretty much where the good went bad.
These are our experiences over the next 14 days,
The food in the canteen, it cannot be called a restaurant by any stretch of the imagination was very poor. It was pretty much exactly the same as the day before. Stewed meat, rice, chips (mostly cold) pasta, tasteless pasta sauce.
Fish fillets with the biggest bones I have ever seen and with the heads on clearly not fillets, rabbit ribcages, and if that’s not enough what the hell are GIZZARDS?
Salad bar consisted of cucumber in half inch slices, tomato, spam, and sliced processed cheeses, olives and not much else.
The bread was hard dry and to my mind stale, for the whole 2 weeks.
When visiting the canteen the staff in there were quite rude and couldn’t wait to take your plate, if you get up to fetch a drink don’t expect your plate to be there when you get back.
The first day I went to the bar to get a round of soft drinks for the kids whilst they were eating, 9 cokes please and was told I could only have 2? What’s all that about, we had 9 kids in our party?
On complaining about this to the reps we were told, and I quote “we never eat there; we go to pakos bar just down the road if you want decent food we suggest you go there!”
On complaining to the rep that all of our 22 strong party including the kids were ill with stomach upset and/or violent diarrhoea we were asked, and I quote “have you tried pakos bar” we told her that we had just been drinking the water from the water siphons and were told “don’t drink that the bar staff just fill them from the tap” brilliant I and both my kids had the squits for the last 3 days and that’s all we had been drinking!!!!
The mixer drinks machines are also plumbed into the tap water so no escape there either!
Poolside bar, you have the choice of 1 kind of beer, vodka, rum, gin, whisky (until they run out) coffee, hot chocolate, Pepsi, orange, lemonade or tonic water.
Hot dogs, both the bread and the hot dog sausages left uncovered all day from when they put them out at 8am to when they take them away at 5.30.
Pizza/ kebab hut, again all food left out in the open all day. Pizza is admittedly fresh as there is always a long queue and is served as soon as it comes from the oven, but is thrown onto a plastic tray and shoved across a dirty counter top to you by a old woman who clearly didn’t want to be there. The kebabs consisted of 2 or 3 pieces of pink chicken meat, one slice of cucumber and a tiny bit of onion in hot dog bread, again all left uncovered to anything that might want to land on it whilst the staff sat in the back room behind a curtain smoking.
Reception bar, in the whole 2 weeks holiday I didn’t get a cup of coffee in a cup or a beer in a glass. All the drinks throughout the hotel were served in plastic cups. Around the pool is expected but in the bars away from the poolside and indoors this is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.
All the hot drinks were out of a drinks machine similar to the ones found in your works canteen or train stations etc so don’t expect a proper coffee anywhere in elenite. Unless you go to the frigate bar and pay for it! This is also in the next hotel down the beach.
Irish bar, sounds great, an Irish themed pub not like any I have ever been in. it looks like this pub was an afterthought as it is virtually underground is small cramped scruffy and quite stuffy when full, without any windows or proper ventilation. Again all the drinks were mostly served in plastic glasses but if you do manage to get a glass hang on to it as they only have about half a dozen. Also the bar staff have a weird notion of setting light to paraffin on certain cocktails, we didn’t ask anything else about this but it did fill the room with paraffin fumes which had nowhere to escape!!
Anything other than the one choice of beer and the spirits mentioned before then you have to pay for it. 5 lev for a bottle of beks about £1.80 and the spirits were just ridiculous prices. We went to the shop just down the corridor from the bar and bought it from there 1.60 lev about 60p a bottle.
Took our own spirits too, just got the mixers from the bar, left the bottles on the table all night and nothing was ever said so we kept doing it.
At least we had a decent drink and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than the bar.
Above I mentioned the corridor leading to the Irish pub, to get to the pub you have to go by the computer room 6 lev for an hour which is reasonable, loads of pc games and that there tinterweb thingy. Gift shop, jewellery shop, shop selling beer, crisps, and sweets fags etc. a dodgy clothes shop selling fake brand name clothing. A so called jjb sports shop also selling fake brand names. A tattooist of all things and a pool/ arcade. 1 token for the arcade games is 1 lev/ 35p ish one token for the pool table is 3 lev/ £1 ish. If you have kids and sit in the Irish bar expect most of your holiday money to go into those machines as there is nothing else for the kids to do.
The amphitheatre, we never actually got to use this as none of the evening entertainment happened. Just as well as we didn’t even find it until the start of the second week. When we complained to the rep about the evening entertainment that was not only advertised in the brochure but was also on the first choice board in reception, she told us that the manager hated first choice and wouldn’t let them put any entertainment on. We had bingo and a couple of game shows in the Irish bar in the whole two weeks of our stay. Fine you might think but if you are not sat around the bar you will not see a thing as the place is just too small and simply not laid out for such things.
Also the rep told us that after they had finished bingo or whatever they had to leave the hotel grounds immediately and could not have a drink or chat with anyone.
Beach bar, this is a fantastic looking bar smack on the beach but you have to pay for all the drinks there. Also don’t expect a quiet day on the beach as this bar bangs out dance music from about 10am till 10pm and it is very loud. Anywhere on the beach its loud full volume dance music morning till night, anywhere behind it and all you get is the bass, bloody annoying I’ll tell you. What’s more it’s always empty. We made the mistake of going in there the first night 1 beer (half pint) 1 amoretto and coke, 1 Jim beam and coke came to 45 lev which worked out at roughly £16. Needless to say we didn’t venture in there again even if we couldn’t escape the noise of the place.
Frigate bar, next hotel down the beach but in the same complex.
This is a pay bar and not all inclusive so we didn’t bother going for a drink there, looks nice inside though. Dam site nicer than the inclusive bars anyway.
Coffee shop, in the same complex as the frigate, ok same as all the other inclusive bars but had more glasses. Also this is the only place in the whole complex where the kids can get ice cream. Only ice cream mind no suckers/ lollies etc. so if you are sat beside the pool at the royal park and your 7 year old wants an ice cream as they do then it’s a good 15/ 20 minute round trip in flip flops to take them to fetch an ice cream. Also in there you have the shops mentioned before minus the dodgy clothing and the arcade and pool tables prices as above but different tokens. On the plus side on the steps leading up to the coffee shop you can buy a fake Rolex watch from the watch stall (other fake watches are available)
Also in this complex is the night club where you can send your 13 year old to get drunk of a night if you so wish as many were doing while we were there. But they can get a drink at any of the other bars on the resort as the bar staff didn’t care who they gave alcohol to, as did the shops. We didn’t believe it so we tried and every time my lad came back with a drink. (Obviously we didn’t let him drink it)
The entertainment in this complex was not for the English at all.
The restaurant in this hotel looks a lot nicer than the one at the royal park but you can’t eat there.
Bowling alley, looked newly built never tried it as our kids weren’t interested so cant comment on that one.
Sozopol restaurant, not bad but not great either and you have to be up early to book it on the day you want to go.
Sunshine restaurant, booked a table for 16 at 8pm, when we turned up it was closed. Back at reception the answer we got was the preferred one to any problems “I don’t know”
When we went to the royal park canteen around 8.30 most of the food was gone and was not being replaced either. Bearing in mind it closes at 9.30 this isn’t good.
Most nights around the complex you will find drunken teenagers running amok. Up and down the corridors banging on doors, up and down in the lifts and being noisy and at times abusive, parents probably sat in the Irish bar.
One night my cousin and her family in the next room had a powder fire extinguisher fired under her room door. Her 7 year old was going to the bathroom at the time and was covered in the powder and was subsequently sick all night. The whole room was covered it was on the clothes bedding everywhere. When we rang the reception it took 10 minutes for them to get up to the 5th floor and there were 6 of them. They first accused us of doing it saying that it couldn’t get under a closed door and after much arguing in the corridor my cousin’s husband and I were made to go to security. Once there we were forced into a small storage room with the CCTV recorders. At this point none of the staff would speak English to us, we had to stand and watch the footage which clearly showed it wasn’t us. At no point were we offered an apology for the way we were treated. Nothing ever happened to the people who did let off the extinguisher. The next morning the staff went round the hotel and removed all the powder extinguishers fro the fire points.
If you plan on going into sunny beach, which is the closest town of 10km go for the 9.50 am bus, the 10.50 am bus is rammed and you probably won’t get on. Everyone queues up but when the bus arrives it’s a bit of a bun fight to get on.
2 lev or 70p ish though is very good value.
The taxis outside the gates are very good 25 lev and 20 return and they are always waiting for you whatever time you want to return.
Sunny beach is an experience you can buy almost anything fake there from a Rolex watch to designer shirts and jeans dirt cheap too. Great if you like that sort of thing. You can also buy cs gas, pepper spray, cross bows, hunting knives, flick knives, throwing stars, nun chucks, stun guns or tazars, coshes in fact a whole array of deadly weapons on the market stalls also along the beach. If you can buy them you can bet the local thugs and street robbers have them too.
The bars and restaurants along the sea front offer some great food and beers at really good prices. Also whilst visiting the sea front you can check out the other hotels. Kind of like on bulls eye, look at what you could have won!!!
Steer clear of the fruit sellers, they will rob you and they are everywhere. Buy a money belt is my advice if only for your own peace of mind.
The royal park hotel should be a fantastic place, it looks fantastic in the brochure and on the internet, but beware something has gone seriously wrong to cause this many complaints. Also don’t forget once there you are trapped there is nothing else within walking distance.
The food, the service, the ignorant staff and the management’s attitude towards first choice will guarantee you a fairly miserable holiday, probably one you spent all year saving up for.
My holiday cost £1700 for 2 adults and 2 children, but we ended up spending over £1000 on eating out, drinks and entertainment. Not great for an all inclusive holiday.
I would not recommend this hotel or resort to anyone,

We've just returned from a 2 week holiday. 4 out of 5 of us had sickness and diahorrea. My daughter was fine - may be a conincidence but she is a veggie and did not touch the meat. The choice of food in the restaurant was very poor and very repetative.
The last 5 days we ate in Paccos and found that our stomachs were much beter for it. Please don't be put off by your first impression of Paccos.
First impression of the hotel was brilliant, the setting, the frontage, the water park etc., but closer inspection showed a hotel that is starting to age.
We have been on all inclusive holidays for the last 6 years and so we knew what to expect, but we found this hotel very dissapointing.
Thre are 4 lifts in the hotel, but it is quicker to walk (and we were on the 8th floor!)
Entertainment was a bit of a let down. Game shows every night where audience participation was a must. The only actual show that was there you had to pay for. The ampitheatre sounds nice, but as anyone with children knows toilets are a must and I was a bit annoyed at having to walk back to the hotel everytime my son wanted to go!
Kids enjoyed the Kids Club, but I was a bit worried that the reps seemed more interested in having a good time and throwing water over themselves whilst dancing with the kids.
The pool is very cold but the sea is within easy reach and much warmer. The water park is great, but the lifeguards don't seem to have much control or be very interested.
We will probably go back to Bulgaria, but we will definitely not return to Elenite Village.

Stayed week commencing 27th August with my husband and 2 children aged 3 and 6.
Our room was Very clean and the maid could not do enough for us,lots of fresh towels every day.Food was very poor we only tried breakfast and dinner once after that we ate out.Lunch better as the pizza was great.
Kids loved the waterpark and the beach.(be warned however the waterpark floor area is lethal our own children slipped badly there and we witnessed numerous other children falling badly)
The trip on the boat to Nessebar well worth it.
We were glad we were not staying in Sunny Beach,not nice!.Paco's very over rated we had to queue longer here to eat than at the Hotel.
To Fran from England my son got a henna tattoo on his arm the day before we left at the hotel ,the area is now a raised red mess which is very swollen,this being nearly 3 weeks since we got home.
My advice to anyone thinking of letting their children get these tattoo's is don't!
Bulgaria in general is not yet fully geared up for tourism and this particular hotel needs to look carefully at a number of issues particularly the lifts,food,night-time entertainment and the awful bar in the basement.
Maybe in a few years this hotel will improve but i would not recomend it as it is now.
By the way none of us got sick in any way maybe because we did not really eat in the hotel and only drank wine we brought ourselves as the beer/wine on offer was vile.

Just returned, husband is now off sick with stomach, i feel awful. i fell on a wet floor and hurt knee and arm. Room was ransacked despite having a late check out. the food was awful, the pool was so cold no one went in it. The entertainment was very poor and the reps were no help.
i tried to go home after 2 days and cried when the plan landed after 10 days as i was glad to be home.
i wont ever return and understand why thompsons removed this holiday from there brochure sadly it was taken on by first choice!
save your health and cash just dont go

Royal Park Hotel
i stayed in the royal park fr the 27th aug for 2weeks, after reading the reviews before i went i was really concerned because i had 2 two young children aged 2and 9months i was so worried i even tried to cancell but couldnt anyway i am glad now l didnt we had a great time. i did get a rummy tummy on my second week not to bad though no vomiting or tummy aches my 2 year old got in on the last day of our holiday but everyone eles was fine. to martin ball who is concerned about his baby i wouldnt be my9th month old was fine i did however bring all my own food for him and kettle to boil water and sterilize bottles, he had a great time and loved to pool. i do however understand why some people complain the lifts are a joke and food is not a great. but all and all we enjoyed our stay there and would go back but not in high season as l would say the queue would be to much and lifts a nightmare. ps. the entertainment is awful except for the bulgarian entertainers.

ow man! first holiday to elenite and got kicked outa room on last day at 10am! no one told us about hceck out thinking it was in price. we had the stomach cramps for 5 days then when we went home and had test it was food poisoning.
the kids never pood so much. they lost 2 half pound in body weight. first choice is rubbish. sod this going else ware again weather was ery cold to .

The Best advice on this Hotel is to Aviod it at all times. This Place needs pulling down . If you look close enough you will see the cracks appearing already . Good points about this Hotel There arn't any Food Poor. Drinks Poor

Just returned from 2 weeks in this hotel
where they get 4 star from i'll never know.
The staff are very ignorant very unhelpful, our room was clean the maid was very pleasant( the only one in the place who was)
The food is disgusting childrens meals no variety ate out constantly could not face the food.The only good thing about this holiday was the kids club kids reps very good.I have been on a all inclusive holiday before and it was brilliant.If you are considering this place all i can say to you is try and change it. out of everyone who was in this hotel no one had a good word to say about it.My advice is avoid it like the plague.I would never return not even for free. Two weeks of HELL.

Saved up all year to take best friends on holiday, absolutely the worse holiday experience ever. Out of 9 people, 8 were extremely ill with stomach cramps, sickness etc, the staff were the most unhappy and rude people i have ever met, the bar staff were the worst poring drinks into plastic cups they were even puting coffee and tea in the plastic cups the spirts arnt what you think! we were frequently being let down, NO manager when we despretly wanted to complain, my two childern were extreemly ill my 15 year ols son was ill on his birthday ruining his hole holiday and birthday and was ill from the 28th of august untill the 4th of september have to have time of school from his gcse's also my 12year old boy was ill have the say problem, most of the hotel was not clean the tattoo'st in the shoping center in the hotel was using needels that wernt coming out of pakets!! so please if you would like a good holiday dont choose this holiday ever !!

We visited back in july/august (comment 7 aug). My children aged 8 and 6 had henna tattoos from the hotel on the night we returned to england within 24 hours their arms had blistered. it has made an awful mess of their arms we have had to visit the docs several times. If anyone else experienced the same please get intouch. I would avoid this at the hotel, it seems they don't use the proper henna!

we had the typical holiday belly, but the hotel was very clean -cleaners were on duty and cleaning every hour of the day.The food was superb. There were queues for everything but not to long as long as you didnt go to the resteruaunt as soon as it was opened. I would recommend this place so much that we are going back next year.
However the first choice reps were as much use as chocolate fireguards

there were 8 of us 4 in each room after 3 days
7 of us went down with sickness & diarrhoia
we went to see doctor on site he was more interested how much medical access we had on our medical insurence.
and told us to get the bus into sunny beach
to buy immodium.which we bid for the rest of our holiday my grand daughter wos the only one that was not affected my advice stay away from this hotel .

Well i gotta say all the terrible comments below are i think a little over the top, unless my family were just very lucky. We had a lovely time, ok we had a couple of days with runny tummies, but i think you get that anywhere abroad. My boys both got ear infections, but that's as bad as it got. I did find the floors extremely slippery, due to the amount of mopping the cleaners were doing 24/7. And being on the 8th floor was a nightmare for getting a lift. Entertainment for adults needs to be looked at, as there really wasn't much to do if you had children older than 12. But on the whole it was a beautiful hotel and the views were a wow factor.

we have returned from a two week holiday on 27th august and we feel as if we need a holiday to recover. we are a family of 6 and all of us had an upset stomach some for longer than others , my daughter and her friend had it for the whole two weeks and the rest of us for about 4 days but all at different times, the problem is you dont feel poorly just every time you ate or drank something about 10 mins later you got a terrible stomach cramp and had to go toilet.we were with a larger party of 19 and 18 all got the squits and most people we spoke to all had the same problem, whether it was the food,water or the pool we couldnt tell you but most of the people who came with us were first timers for all inclusive and it has put them off, there wasnt enough pools for the amount of people (not everyone likes the beach) there wasnt enough snack bars in the day which resulted in waiting for 45 mins for 1 slice of pizza and there isnt enough bars for you to get drinks of any sort. we have been all inclusive before and it wasnt as busy as this at the snack bars etc and in the evening there was only one place for live entertainment and that was the ampitheatre. so basically for the amount of people in the hotel at peak season there just isnt enough snack bars and entertainment.(there are only so many games of trumps and 7 card bragg you can play in two weeks!) we wont as a family being going back there again.

hi just to let you all know, my sister put in a review tracy just below.we now have my daughters results from the doctors,shes got compilabacta=food poisioning and cryptosporidium=water born bug from the swimming pool.now shes on antibiotics starting to feel a little better after 2 weeks of the squits lost a lot of weight and we are all so glad to be home .so dont eat or swim!!!!

This was our first taster of a fully inclusive holiday and will certainly be the last (back to Eurocamp next year!) It's been seven days since my family returned from this hotel and we are still suffering the after-effects...so be prepared for sickness, diarrhoea and severe stomach cramps. I would suggest booking an extra week off of work on yor return because you'll need it!
The shower rail fell on my head, the lifts painfully inadequate for the amount of people (normally transporting at least two large lilos) and I dare not mention the food as it still makes me nauseous to think about tasteless sponge cake with synthetic cream.
If you want hygiene try eating off the floor of this hotel - it's cleaned meticulously (albeit without any hazard signs) but if you do get ill the doctor is very nice (I'm convinced he gave my son diluted Dettol to cure his stomach cramps so at least his vomit smelt better on the plane travelling home).
Forget faddy diets - simply book yourself in for a crash diet at the Royal Park. Or should that be Royal Parkhurst?

Have just started to recover from a nightmare holiday.
Diarrhoea stomach cramps sickness dizzyness that was 75% of the hotel. Yet they continued to ship in more guests with no warnings.
The reps were a joke - the hygiene unbeliable.
The view however was lovely but the only view most could endulge in was inside the w.c.
these smelt horrendous & were often covered in diarrhoea or sick on the floor.
The food was cold & topped up with more cold food instead of replaced. The pool bar had no hot running water & was left exposed at night for the cats to lick away at the drink taps after of course licking their own bottoms - like they do....
Go if you dare I got ill after day 1 after eating just salad & fish no booze no over indulgence. after day 1 toast dried bread followed by stavation so I could travel back on the plane not in the w.c. We have been home 4 days & both me & my daughter are just starting to recover.
I could go on & on & on.
keep you money in your pocket if not it will end up flushed down the w.c like the contents of your stomach.
I have complaint to first choice .....watch this space

The Hotel on arrival looks fabulous, the rooms are cllean and tidy, the pool is fine and so was the beach and waterpark.
However out of the 16 people that went all had a stomach upsets for at least 3 to 4 days each and at different times, the reps told us that it was a bug that was airbourne and going around Bulgaria, if this was the case how come that the only two in our party that was thankfully ok, was two 5 month old babies that did not touch the food or drinks, as we took our own for them.
My niece who is 7 was so ill and dehydrated that the doctors tried to put her on a drip, but could not get it into her, we are all thankfully home now, we are waiting the results from the Uk doctor to see what my niece has as she is still poorly.
We came home on Saturday the 25th August 2007 and so glad.
I have travelled to lots of destinations and have never experienced this so called bug (food poisioning). And will never return.
Paco's bar outside the hotel was a godsend, nice food, great atmosphere.

The Bulgarian staff were all very nice and curteous,The First Choice staff U.K were not...
The food was absolutely aweful,out of 19 of us that travelled together paying a littlle over £13000.oo for the all inclusive deal,18 of us had and still have the squits.
But according to the reps there is nothing wrong at this fabulous venue.
Personally i have been ill for 9 days now.
Returned home this this morning,Thank God.
Avoid the whole package....It is a very depressing holiday...

Royal Park... not dissimilar to Jurassic Park; started with "ooh, aah, wow, look at the view," then running, screaming"...the true horror of the park began to unfold!!
We are well experienced travellers and were not expecting nor wanting an English experience abroad; we have been to many countries, stayed in many resorts and never usually moan or complain. We would not however return to the Royal Park Hotel, even if the holiday was given to us free of charge. We stayed in a 4 star, all inclusive hotel in Cuba last year and the service, food and experience cannot begin to be compared, as was superior to the Royal Park in every way.
The whole family had severe food poisoning, which definitely was not caused by over indulgence.. the chance would have been a fine thing! Food was often undercooked and cold. I agree with the comment by Elaine.. it could be marketed as the latest fad diet. Seriously though, none of us feel completely well and we have now been back over a week. The children came back looking thin and pale. We have also had eye and ear infections.
Unbelievable but true.......
Emergency lighting that did not work! Regular power cuts, (at least seven), meant this was extremely dangerous as stairways and corridors were pitch black. Seriously, take a torch.
First Choice reps get paid!
They were unhelpful, lacked empathy and did not effectively deal with guests' problems. Hotel staff not surprisingly looked shocked by the behaviour of many hotel guests. People have commented that they didn't speak much English.. no problem there. Their English was far better than our Bulgarian!
The queues..
expect to queue and wait for everything including lifts.
The noise from the beach bar..
Club style music played at high volume from ten in the morning, until past midnight many days.. hardly the 'quiet relaxed, atmosphere' as advertised. Would have gone to Ayia Napa if wanted to party day and night!
Good bits
Packo's bar, outside the complex was a good escape. The food is cooked properly and it was inexpensive. A great atmosphere too.
The beach looked lovely.
Our room, although noisy; was clean, spacious and the maid visited every day.
We appreciate that it is August, but feel at such a busy period, there were not enough staff for the amount of people staying at the hotel. It was also upsetting to see that although there is a massive increase in development/tourism going on within Bulgaria, it didn't appear to benefit the majority of people, who live in abject poverty.

Forget Weight Watchers, forget Rosemary Connelly. Infact forget every faddy diet youve ever heard of - just visit the Royal Park Hotel, Ellenite - loose a stone in a week!!!!!!!
Dreadful food resulting in food poisioning will do the trick!!!!!! In fact the smell comming from the restaurant is warning enough.
My husband and I both suffered food poisining and ended up living off bananas and chips at PACKO'S.
Packo's is the bar outside the prison, sorry hotel gates and thank God for it!
If you're unlucky enough to have been sentanced to serve time at this God forsaken place, PACKO'S is a must - the only respite from this mundane, depressing compound.
We have just returned from an 11 day sentance and have never been so glad to be home.
The reception & bar staff are surly and rude,the security guards are straight out of Midnight Express.The whole tourism/property boom is controlled by the Bulgarian Mafia making themselves very wealthy indeed while the rest of the workforce remain impoverished.
The cleaners are OK though - clean towels every day and the beds were made but certainly not changed and no surfaces cleaned.
There isnt an ATM in the hotel - nearest one is in Sunny Beach a 6 mile, very overcrowded bus ride away.and the exchange rate at Strangeways is considerablly less aswell.
No one ever has any change! they just expect you forget about it. This is a general rule when any transaction is taking place in any of the resorts.
As for cheap, well cheap says it all - you'll get what you pay for - absolute rubbish!
At least in Turkey the fake gear can look OK and I'd love to hear Victoria Beckham's comments on her high waisted STRETCH jeans at 60 lev! (£25.00)
I could go on and on but I'll leave it there and my advice is just DONT DO IT, book yourselves into Parkhurst or somewhere equally relaxing!

I have to say i was worried by reading all of these reviews about royal park, the food at the hotel is fine, yes repetitive but find somewhere all inclusive that isnt??? fresh food is constantly being brought out and is always hot, fresh salad deserts and a large selection of main courses are available, if people had so called food poisoning it was probably due to eating far too much or drinking the unlimited amount of local beer on tap all day. Our room for 4 adults was huge plenty room with pleasant bathroom and cleaned daily. theres a few wasps around which only really fly around emply glasses left by lazy people and if left alone dont bother you. I was disgusted at the problem in finding a sunbed by the pool as about sixty people religously get up at the crack of dawn to place their towels on, usually reserving one for each member of the family inc children who are in the pool most of the day. wish i had the nerve to throw all of their towels in the pool. beach was gorgeous and sea was very warm. not much on a night to do for a group of adults so take some playing cards. all of the reps very friendly and staff speak good english and more than helpful. Dont take in all of these terrrible reviews as some people are never satisfied and what can they expect for the money?? the hilton??

returned today from the royal park after a week of sun and fun.The kids had a great holiday with no tummy upsets adults did but we put it down to the beer and sun over indulgence and not the food which was very similar to any all inclusive we've been to.All the staff were friendly and helpfully and the first choice reps certainly made the children happy.If your looking for lots to do in the evenings then sunny beach is a mass of bars restaurants clubs and fake goods shops all within a short bus trip or taxi.The sea is warm and safe for swimmers or paddlers with the usual windsurfers jet skis pedalo's.If the beach or pool isn't for you then the aqua park is on site and a lot of fun for all age groups.

Just got back from 2 weeks here. Truly a hellish experience. I was violently ill for a week with food poisoning - almost every British guest had similar experience. The food is vile - pink uncooked poultry every day. The First Choice reps are the worst - they don't care, do nothing and are rude, aggressive and arrogant in the face of the vast many complaints made. You will be very ill at this hotel.

Just got back from 10 days at Royal Park Hotel, and it was best holiday i've been on, and i will definatly be going again. When we arrived after a 5 hour delay they quickly checked us in and took our bags straight to our room, porter was very grateful of the tip. The room was large with a great view of the mountains and water park, but who really cares about what you see from the balcony, we hardly spent any time in the room to appreciate the view. Room was fairly clean and towels were changed daily, beds made everyday, beddding changed every 2 days.
Yes food wasn't brilliant but what do people expect when they have to cater for over a good few hundred people for breakfast, dinner and tea, but i certainly didn't see people complain when they had 7-10 plate fulls of all the different foods for a family of 4-5 people. The dinning staff were lovely, very polite and always cleared the dirty plates within 2 seconds of you finishing, the ice cream is ace that i'll miss.
The endless supply of free alcohol was fab, but i would definatley recommend going to the beach bar which is a payable bar, but sell very cheap fantastic ranges of cocktails, they are about 7.60 lev which i thought was very reasonable.
We spent most of our days at the aqua park which it does cost you to hire the loungers and parrasols, but it is only 5 lev per bed and parrasol. It was not over crowded and had a really nice atmosphere. unless you get up at 7:30 everyday to get a lounger on the beach or by the pool, there was no chance of spending the day at either of these places. this was the reason we spent most of the time at the aqua park but there was always loungers avaliable no matter wat time of day it was, and the slides were fab.
Entertainment at night was reasonable for adults but fantastic for children, the first choice entertainers were great and always made sure there was something for the kids to do. There was a show on everynight at the ampitheatre, and also at the animation hall which seemed to suit people of all ages.
I would definatley not listen to other peoples reviews on this place until you've been, as i read all the bad reviews about it and was dreading going, but me and my boyfriend had a fantastic time.

We are going to royal park hotel in elenite in a few days and are worried about getting currency b4 we go..its hard to obtain at short notice, also is the rate better in bulgaria than banks would give here. Just got back, 9 out of 10 of us had diarrhea a long with painful stomach cramps, it seems like so did all the other guests too, don't know what caused it but we got off lightly speaking to others who had to go on drips. most people were trying to get home early as they had had enough, we stayed for 2 weeks which was too long. take lots off emodium youll need it. This problem did spoil our holiday.

4 out of the 5 of us experienced the food poisioning (viral infection, not!!), everybody at the hotel was ill some people were even on drips. The holiday reps were unhelpful and rude. Very little cleaning was carried out in the bathroom of our hotel room even when they knew we were ill. I have been intouch with my local council re the illness if anyone is still suffering I urge you to seek medical help and forward any information on to your enviromental health adv. Being ill spoilt our time away as a family. The hotel has alot going for it but we will never return!!

We stayed at the Royal Park from 20th July for 2 weeks. We were worried about the bad comments on the website before we went as this was also our honeymoon and family holiday. We arrived at the hotel at 5.00 am and had to queue for an hour at Reception before we finally got our room key, then had to wait for the bell boy to take us to our room. Not good when you have been travelling since 9.30 p.m.
Our room was nice and clean but not the sea view we had requested, we asked to change this the day after but was told the hotel was full.
The beach had plenty of sun beds but also plenty of wasps - 2 out of the 4 of us got stung.
The food was not good, it was very repetitive and watch out for the pink chicken. Having said that I saw quite a few children and adults using their fingers on the food and not the utensils and also dropping the ladels in the food. All four of us had stomach upsets and so near the end of the holiday, we were eating hardly anything.
There were not enough bars to sit and have a quiet drink and you therefore had to join the long queue in the Reception bar.
The hotel was very noisey at night with kids running up and down the corridors and in and out of the lifts and people banging their room doors. This is advertised as a family friendly hotel but did not seem to be managed well. Heard quite a number of parents complaining about their children being woken up. Having stayed at quite a number of fully inclusive hotels I would not class this as one of the best and the advertised 4 star seems to be an exaggeration.
Overall this would be a good place if you were on a very tight budget for one week only but not as your main holiday.
I agree with Paul from England we should have listened to the bad reports and changed our holiday, we certainly would not go back.

I agree that the food was awful, every person I spoke to had suffered from food poisioning, would not recommend eating in Hotel. holiday reps unhelpful only interested in selling trips. food poisioning was alledgedly a viral infection, but my children who wouldn't touched the food in the resturant never had a problem, but both myself and wife suffered with food poisioning. Nothing to do on evenings other than drink, we wish we had taken stock of the poor reports and changed our holiday. would never consider going back and very happy to be back home

As below I agree with Maria food is awful husband currently still off work with food poisioning drinks awful cheap local brew and wine rotten, get up early for sunbeds 7am, room sofa bed not adequate if you have two older kids to sleep on , queues long ntertainment okay for younger children only no entertaintment for 14/15yr olds would not go back take money to eat out and pay for taxis as 25 levy each way to sunny beach

We had food poisioning and the food was auful. we had chipped cups and plates mouldy bread.we booked kids den and sea viiew and when we got there we were put on 10th floor lift stopped at 8th floor. the room was disgusting it smelt, the bathroom also smelt all black round the bath, no phone telly didnt work. got kids den 2 days later that was ok. felt ill for half of the holiday spoke to other people they had the same.i will say the entainment team are 1st class and my son who is 12 enjoyed the kids club very much. would never go back to Royal Park if it was free. and it does not derserve a 4 star rating.

It was Brilliant! Dont listen to any of the bad comments it was an excellent holiday and i am deffently going to book for next year. The kids (8 + 14) had a wounderful time and enjoyed every minute! The food was at a okay standard, The rooms were clean, The entertainment/Fun was outstanding, the reps kept you entertained every day. There were activites for all ages. The waterpark is very good but you have to pay for your seats and snacks so take some money. To sum The royal park hotel up - It was Outstanding!

came back 13th july, building work is ongoing in next door development, disruption would depend on which side of hotel your room is, as they are seperated by a walkway, we could hear construction at beach only as music at poolside drowns noise out. Did not ruin holiday but we were annoyed as First Choice told us only painting and flower planting was being done which is not true.

I am really really worried about going to the royal Park am due to arrive in 4 weeks time and all I read about is how cold the food is, how filthy the restaurants are and how much food poisoning is going around and people are ending up on drips, has anyone actually complained to the hotel manager when they have been affected by all this, can anyone who has been there recently give me an honest opinion on what the food is like, never mind oh its not England, it should still be cooked and edible and not give you diarrohea!!! no excuses I do not want to end up in hospital or my 3 year old with food poisoning, if it reall is that bad I'd rather cancel and lose money than be ill.

As for all the bad comments, the good comment out weigh them, so they are probably just people who expect good old english grub, we went to bulgaria last year and found the food ok and the staff very very helpful.

went in aug 2006 wont go back again, great entertainers but thats about it. why any body would want to go all inclusive to bulgaria beats me. i made the mistake in 2006 i wont make it again. big queues for flat beer and if you dont get to the resturant early be prepared to walk around looking for a table, and if you dont get a table for the nights shows then be prepared to sit on the sunbed you\'d been on previously that day, i\'m telling you how it is, not like some of these people who must of been wearing rose tinted sunglasses.. some people actually return here year after year... must live in Chavsville

Hi, I went to Royal Park in July 06. We had a really good time all 20 of us!! I think a hliday is what u make of it and as long as its clean its half the battle. Theres lots to do for kids much not much for adults (except drinking all the inclusive beer :) ) but if kids are happy then thats great. Take a bus ride into Sunny Beach for a change, its cheap enough. I would recommend Royal Park to families and maybe i'd go back but in a few years..

thats about all i can thats positive about this place. i would'nt reccomend this place, if you like queing for half of a plastic cup of flat or sometimes fizzy beer then this is for you, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO A BETTER ALL INC SOMEWHERE ELSE
(bulgaria is cheap enough so theres no need to go all inclusive)

We were going June 07 but now cancelled and going to Turkey. I know a lady at first choice who found out some info for more. They are building 2 hotels, villa complex and ampitheatre all behind the royal park hotel. They expect 1 of the hotels to be finished for June but not the others. The work is only 60 metres from the back of royal park hotel - so not good.

going lanzorote next year. never going back to this place again, the worst all inc we've ever been on. those people who recommend this place are obviously doing so because their last annual hols were proberly in Seaton Carew Yorkshire .. Yes your holiday is what you make it, but when you have to make it a holiday, then you're being cheated. all in all not going back and i would'nt recommend either. roll on lanzerote.

judging by the comments on this (and not only) website one would say this is the most fabulous and outstanding and remarkable hotel and resort in the entire country...i don't know how exactly it is marketed with you but i can say for sure that almost no bulgarian goes there - and that is not for the prices or service or the nationality of the guests - it is just boring there and the resort is ways behind Golden Sands and Sunny Beach. I doubt if 1% of the bulgarian population would pick Elenite as a favourite summer destination if they were asked to. And I am a bit ashamed if the first (and probably only) impression you get from Bulgaria is from Elenite. I will not quote hotel names but if you want an insider's opinion - opt for some other beach resort

I would never come back to bulgaria ever again!, my family and i stayed in the royal park hotel for a week from the 25th september - 2nd october, the food was disgusting there is no childrens menu for the kids, myself an the children were living on a plate of chips for dinner and tea for the whole week. All the entertainers of the hotel was not very friendly except for 1 called natasha, she was the only one really who bothered with the children!. It was very hard to get the staff to smile, they were very missereable an arragunt! the bar staff were serving my brother who is only eight years old pints, which is disgusting! None of my family will ever return to bulgaria,

if you are thinking of going to bulgaria, dont go all inc, they havnt got the gist of it. you would proberly find it cheaper going s/c and you would more than likely opt for sunny beach rather than this overated complex bulgaria is cheap so theres no need to go all inc ...

We read the comments of previous guests and thought that it couldn't be that bad. Well, it wasn't but although the food was not all that bad, it was invariably only lukewarm as the bain-maries were not hot enough. All the crockery was chiiped and some cultlery was dirty. The hot drinks were pot luck as to what you actually got. I had a mixture of coffee and hot chocolate one morning and hot chocolate wasn't in this machine!! The maid service was patchy. We had to make and change our own beds. The staff were fine, if you smile at them then they smile at you. Reps were OK. Overall, we would not go back and would think twice about all-inclusive again.

If this complex was'nt all inc, thered be more bar staff, more beer pumps, more dining tables, more tables outside to cater for the overflow of people in the evening, thered be more waiters clearing tables etc. in all the service was very poor cos basically you've already paid a lot of money. we've been bulgaria before on a s/c basis, so i would'nt recommend all inc to bulgaria because the countries dirt cheap anyway. we won't be going back... if you do go to bulgaria opt for sunny beach, and have a evening in elenite village to see what you are'nt missing, you will enjoy the 1st choice entertainment staff though, they're too good for this resort.

i have to say the hotel its self is lovely but the food the service of the waiters is discusting they just dont want to help you we had problems with our tele in our room not working a nd they refused tofix it or do anything about it.the entertainmemt was apporling nothing to do at the hotel in the evenings the pool is right in the shade so its freezing cold and no one went in it i can say it was the worst hotel and place we have ever been to and we have travelled quite a bit so think twice about going its all true believe me

we enjoyed our holiday in august this year, never got our seaveiw room when we got there, but got a letter telling us we would get it on monday as they were overbooked, because of this first choice give us a free safe 4 two weeks and a late check out 4 free and we got our seaveiw room on the monday. Hotel was clean and room was large, food was not very good not enough tables for every1, that was the only bad point of holiday, a must do is the jeep safari its excellent and kahns tent night not to be missed.

we had a large family group,all ages and not one person complained as there was nothing to complain about. The first choice staff were the most useless part of the holiday!!!!!!i think they thought they were on hooliday themselves,haha!!!!but hey you go on holiday to enjoy yourself and thats just what we did the staff were fabulous they work soooo hard to please you, so long as you are polite, but wouldnt you expect the same treatment. Wonderful beach and excellent location.will definitely go back next year.

My partner and i and our 3 children (9,3 and 1 years old) returned from the Royal Park on the 12th Sept and have had a fab holiday! Yeah sometimes the food wasn't very warm and the odd time we had to queue for drinks but hey they are trying to cater for hundreds of guests!! A bit of patience wouldn't go amiss from some moaners!!
Your holidays what you make it at the end of the day.
The First Choice entertainment and kids club teams are both excellent, we recommend going to the mini disco and sticking around for the nights entertainment as they put on some great shows i.e: Grease & School of rock - both fab!!
We would definately go again - maybe even next year!!

the queue 2 get a drink is ridiculous defo need more staff behind bar !!!!! and there is defo not enough tables especially at breakfast time it is so packed u have 2 wait 4 a table and run and get it b4 someone else does !!! enjoyed holiday though even though them bloomin germans put there towels on the beds very early in the morning pain in the bum !!!

FANTASTIC - i have just returned from a 2 week holiday with my friend and her little boy at the royal park hotel and i have enjoyed every minute of my 2 week stay!
The hotel is extremly clean, they constantly have cleaners milling around, picking up any rubbish (although this is very minimul) that may be lying about. They are always sweeping, mopping and wiping everywhere.
The rooms are lovely and again very clean, the bed linen is changed on a regular basis and you always have fresh towels. The bathrooms are also lovely and are fitted with power showers, what more could you want...he he!! Our room overlooked the bay and it was a beautiful view!
The food is as you would expect very foreign but at the same time also very nice, they have an english chef, i can strongly recommend the pork balls and new potatos! There is always plently of fruit, salad and pasta available at any of the meal times and then there is also a variaty of hot dishes, i found a few dishes that i wouldn't even consider but on the whole it was all really nice! They even had a childrens section which has fishfingers, chicken dinosours or chicken burgers and the much sort after chips! The cakes are a definate must...yummy!! As for drinks, all tasted as they should but go steady of the sprits as a bulgarian single measure is a double and the double measure is a quadruple!!!!
BIG GOLD STAR to the first choice entertainment team who made our holiday, Wayne, Scotty, Nathan, Deano, Natasha, Carrie, Tara and Emma, they are at the hotel from 9am till about 5pm-ish and then back again about 7.30pm till about 12am, throughout the day they have a bit of a radio/dj thing going on and they also organise activities for both the children and adults and at night they put on a mini disco (definately not just for kids...he he) and then they also do shows such as Grease, School of rock and funkmonsters cafe which are all excellant and are definately worth seeing. All these things take place round the pool and the min disco and shows are done again round the pool and on a stage just off to the side of the pool.
I know a few people have commented on the sundbed issue, but i have to say we didn't find this to be a problem, i found that waking up (naturally) about 7.15 and going to put the towels on the beds was fine, most of the sunbeds were still free at this point.
We had a couple of issues with the pool, one day the pool filter broke but this was all sorted within a few hours and the pool was back up and open, we heard a few stories of people picking up ear infections but this wasn't something we experienced thankfully and we were in the pool every day!
I have to recommend the water park, it's brill if you fancy a change from the hotel pol, it's a bit of a pain having to pay for the sunbeds but at only 5lev each which i think equals a couple of pounds it really isn't that bad, the slides are great fun but ladies watch your bikini's, my friends 8 year old found it highly amusing when mine and his mum's bikinis nearly ended up round our ears!!
Majority of the staff are very friendly, the recpetion staff can sometimes be a little glumy but i think this is more down to the fact that they work such long shifts so we'd probably feel the same if in their shoes!
All in all a brilliant holiday and one i would definatley recommend to any of my family and friends. 10 out of 10 and a gold star!!
Didn't want to come home, we are already looking into it for next year.

not going again. complex cannot cope with the amount of people. be prepared to queue for almost everything. be up at 6.30 so you can get a sun bed, or better still go to the water park and pay for beds, beer etc. first choice shows good. we had a good time because you have to don't you. how anybody can highly recommend this resort beats me.
im not moaning.. the toilet paper was a nice colour though hahaha... still not going back ever

Was very apprehensive of going after reading websites with great/rubbish reviews. Was impressed with hotel, but NOT with First Choice at all. Room great, balcony & sea view. Staff very friendly & willing. Pool closed due to pump not working, however it was re-opened despite it still not being properly fixed. Lots of people with ear infections.We experienced a bit of Bulgarian Belly but got over it. Going into Sunny Beach on the bus was an experience, they dont seem to worry about overcrowding. Found the food to be a bit strange at times, odd combinations but eatable. To get a sunbed you have to have your towel on sunbeds before 6am, we witnessed people putting them down at 2.30am. We had ours stolen 1 day & also saw a maid stealing 1 towe off the beds but leaving the other 4 there! HPR is quite isolated so be prepared for that. We used the water park most of the time as found that to be much better, had to pay for beds & drinks but a small price to pay to be able to swim without being jumped on, not getting a nasty bug & much quieter. You need to make your own entertainment as Galaxy Nightclub was rubbish, Animation you couldnt get in to watch the shows as the queues were out the door & then full of kids. Irish Bar was OK,Todor the bar tender was very good. Am still puzzled how you can have an Irish Bar which doesnt have Guinness!!!

An absolutely beautiful place, the food was a big let down though and you have to beware of undercooked food (especially the chicken). The head chef is an Englishman so any complaints just ask for him, big black guy looks like Ainsley Harriet. The English day and Chinese days were the best for food!
The hotel is a palace, snacks and drinks are pretty good, however the entertainment at night is a bit of a wane. Sundays there is no entertainment by the first choice crew, where there should be in my opinion. In fact there is little entertainment on at nights, normally stopping at around 11 o'clock or earlier! The nightclub is pretty boring with just kareoke really. Animation looked ok a couple of nights but again appeared to be for children and those annoying Bulgarian dancers!
Being right on the beach it is a wonderful complex, and I would definately go again. Sunny Beach is a cheap bus ride away and has lots of attractions, such as the Castle restaurant. You must go swimming in the sea as well, it is very warm and not very salty! You have to get sun loungers before 7:30 or the germans will have them!

The entertainment staff are fantastic they keep the place going Shame about first choice reps all they want is to get you on trips ! The food was ok if you like salad but finding a table to eat could be fun the Germans think they should have it all. When it rains watch out for flooding when it rains the staff never listen to complaints or deal with them. The holiday was what you make it we had nice time but won't be back there Did enjoy Bulgaria though.

it may well cleaning the pool every morning, its not the pool thats dirty, its the tiles around the sunbeds that are dirty, the floor is filthy, a maid comes round with a mop and bucket cleaning it with clean water but after 3/4 dunks the water is dirty, the area needs a good jet wash. i don't like to moan but i found that for the £2400 we spent on this all inc we would have got a better deal else where. WE DID ENJOY OUR HOLIDAY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO, THE ENTERTAINMENT CREW ARE EXCELLENT, THE SAME CAN'T BE SAID FOR THE SERVICE OR THE LOCAL BEER....GET DOWN FOR THE FOOD AND SHOWS EARLY SO YOU GET A SEAT.. I MAY BE DISGRUNTLED BECAUSE I'VE BEEN ON MANY BETTER HOLIDAYS THAN THIS

first choice entertainment team do an excellant job and help to make a overated complex. the water park is good but not inclusive. the hotel management need a long course in PR. if you like queueing for half of a plastic cup of beer or pizza then this is the place to go. you after make the most of your holidays we did but we wont be going back to elenite

Following a superb holiday at the Royal Park Hotel in Elenite in June last year, we decided to return there this year. We convinced 6 other members of our family to accompany us. We flew out on 28th July.
The hotel is very impressive & generally very clean. The main problem we found with the hotel was the lack of clean towels! It was a major problem getting clean towels every day - more often than not, we left our dirty, wet towels in the bathroom hoping they would be replaced with clean, dry ones and came back to the room to find ABSOLUTELY NO TOWELS LEFT FOR US!! We suggested that they keep a supply of clean towels in Reception so that people can go there to collect some as you wait ages for a member of their staff to bring some to your room. This practice appeared to have been implemented upon our departure. The staff appeared to be very hostile - except towards the Germans! We found that the most approachable & friendly members of the hotel's staff were the cleaners, they are more than happy to help you if they can & they try hard to communicate with you. The food has not changed or improved since our stay there last year. There is not much choice & whenever anything half-decent was on the menu it had completely gone within half an hour of the mealtime commencing!! We encountered several cases of food poisoning - 1 being a member of our own party (we put it down to the mayonnaise, which is left out all day, he had on a chicken kebab/burger). Thank God that there was a shop in the vicinity - we bought lots of crisps & biscuits to eat!!
We took our children to the Annimation Hall to the kids' disco each evening & then watched the show there afterwards - their shows are really good, we thoroughly enjoyed every one we watched.

I stayed at The Royal Park with my partner in July 2006. It is a lovely hotel and overall a good holiday.
The actual hotel is beautiful and very impressive and the grounds and the beach are kept very clean and tidy. The rooms however were not cleaned very well and we did not always get clean towels and bedding.
I would recommend this hotel to young families as it is perfect for children with lots for them to do and very safe. Myself and my partner are a young (ish) couple and we found there were far too many children for our liking. The hotel room walls are very thin and we were woken nearly every morning by a screaming baby in the next room. Also, don’t hold doors open for German children because you will not get a thank you. (also beware of the queue jumpers...)
The evening entertainment is great for kids but the shows were not really my cup of tea. Even the 'Nightclub' is full of kids!!! However, we did make the most of the all inclusive bar and met quite a few nice people who we spent our evenings drinking with.
The food was ok. There is a great salad bar. If you are a vegetarian you don’t have any choice apart from salad and chips. The meat was often very fatty and not cooked properly. After two weeks I was very bored of the food as there is not a lot of variety.
We booked this last minute and it was very cheap for an all-inclusive but personally I would have preferred go self catering somewhere away from all the children and some of the beer swilling, tattoo bearing Brits on holiday.....
Bulgaria is a lovely country and we met some great locals when we left the hotel complex. If you go into Sunny Beach try a club called Iceberg. They have a fantastic live band playing Chillies, Oasis, The Killers etc. If you go to eat out in Sunny Beach don’t go to the tourist side, go to the other side and look for a restaurant called Djannys. The taxi man can tell you where it is. Under £30 for 4 of us to eat a 3 course meal with drinks and the portions were huge and delicious and a menu too big to choose from.
I also enjoyed the city of Bourgas. Its very cosmopolitan and has some nice shops and bars. Nessebar is worth a visit too. Some great history and pretty cobbled streets.
So basically if you are a young couple I would not recommend The Royal Park but families with children will have a fantastic time!

my husband and i have just returned from the royal park and had a great time. the rooms are large we had clean towels every day you just leave your dirty ones on the bath and they renew them. we ate in the resturant every night, the food was ok you have to remember you are in bulgaria not uk so some of the dishes looked different but if you tasted them they was ok you had chicken,lamb,pork and beef, every day there was salads we tried it all and was ok no problem with upset tummeys. you could have full english breakfast or cereals. during the day was pizza, chicken kebabs. we have been on many all inclusive holidays all over the world the only thing my husband did not like was the beer so we went to the shop and brought stello 2.50 for 4 tins was good. you can get on a bus just outside the hotel it costs about 80p each to sunny beach much cheaper than a taxi. from the pier you can get a boat to nessbar it leaves at 10.15 every day it costs about £8 return each it is worth going its a lovely walk though the old town it brings you bach about 2.30. the water park was open its free open from 10 - 6 every day. i changed my money before i went, but you can change your money in reception i changed £20 i got 2.50 lev to the £ that was better than the uk. the day before we left they was putting lots of chairs around the stage out side by the pool for the shows it was much better than being inside. we had a sea view it was the best side of the hotel so check your accomidation and make sure you have a sea view.

We are due to go on 22nd May for 2 weeks and also got the letter regarding the building work on the approach road and the water park within the vicinity of the Royal Park. I think it is disgusting that it is only now at this late stage that they have informed us about this. All our holidays have been booked from work and all arangements made and deposits paid for airport travel and independent insurance for the dates of our travel etc.
We have no choice but to go to what I presume is going to be a bit of a building site. In my letter it stated that in line with bulgarian legislation, building work should cease by 1st June.
Annette, who told you that it's rated as a 3 out of 5 for incovenience?
I intend to ring first choice tomorrow to see if my holiday can be moved. Alternatively i will be requesting a large discount.

Hello, this is not really a comment about the Hotel Royal Park in Elenite for publication.
Although myself and my family did stay here a couple of years ago, my enquiry is more of a personal one in regard to the decor. of the hotel.
Whilst we were there, the hotel reception area and some of the corridors were adorned with leather wall maps of differant coutrines. I found these remarkably stunning and I have continually being searching for someone who sells these. My simple question is... do you have any details of the supplier or information on where I can obtain one of these beutiful leather wall maps ?
Any information would be gratefully recieved.

Hia i went to this hotel last year in july! it was really hot as well! unfortunately sam the food wasn't too good! but it was really good! there isn't much for kids, but they always find something to do! i was only 14 when i went! i will admit that it was abit rubbish! the staff were quite unhelpful and lost our passports (thankfully they found them) but other than that it was really good! once you make friends there it will be alot better i wanted to come home until i made friends and then i didn't want to leave! the bannana boats etc are really good and so is sunny beach!even though im only 15 it was still a good holiday! it could of been better but it was great! hope you have fun! love haylee x

What a holiday!! Arrived back on 3/10 and it took 10 days to compose my complaint letter to 1st Choice. The hotel looks great but look between the grandour and you'll see a complete lack of hygene. Half the hotel had gastronenteritis the last 2 weeks in September. My familty wanted to come home the 1st week. Out in the sticks so you need to spend money to travel into Sunny Beach.
This seems to be an ongoing complaint for now nearly 2 years.
As of today (2/11) I have still no heard from 1st choice, only an acknowlegement letter.
Will keep you posted.

we arrived at Roayl Park 2 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children on the last week of the season (2nd week in October) although we werent told this when we booked, so the majority of things had closed down. However the hotel was superb our family suite was excellent with 2 huge rooms both with sea view and balcony , the food was ok but you have to remember you are in a foreign country so you wont get chips and burgers, but no one in our party was ill, like early reports I had heard. The beach is lovely, I recommend the barbeque hut in the evening and a trip to the dolphinarium in Varna. Overall we had a great time but if I was to go back it would be no later than september.Excellent vaue for money and you cant spend your levs because it is so cheap.....

just returned from 1 week at royal park and the weather was superb, the sun isnt as fierce as it is in the canaries but a lovely tempature this time of year. the beach is definately the best place to be, a gorgeous private beach if only to get away from the plagues of wasps that frequent the pool areas!!
the food isnt brilliant but ok for the price paid, I can reccommend the roast chicken served straight from the spit at the small pool bar at 12 noon & 3 pm.
If you want a nice restaurant to get away for a night try Captain Cooks in sunny beach, a beautiful place with even better food.
Definately best to exchange your sterling over there but not in the Hotel... the hotel offered 2.5 lev/£1 you could get between 2.8 & 3 lev in sunny beach.

i have recently got back from the royal park hotel and thought it was wondeful. i went with my mum and dad and my best friend kelsa, as we were 15 we found it perfect. great pool, beach right on your doorstep, as much freedom as life could give you as there was noway of going out of the resort, entertainment at night (animation), fantastic beach entertainment including the water sports at very good prices. i agree with the people that said there was nothing for the adults. but what do you expect on a quiet resort? strip clubs?
i would recommened this resort to everyone.

just returned from royal park children loved it. It is a lovely hotel and staff are friendly. The fact that the beach is private is great for the children but you can feel at bit out of the action sometimes. Having to catch a bus to sunny beach for a change of scenery. We found the food okay and ate in all the restaurants. Beware that there are no phones to use to call home unless you go to sunny beach or nessebar. I would recomend this hotel is in a lovely spot. There was 15 of us and we all enjoyed it. The reps do a good job. Beware of the deer it goes wild sometimes but thats because some children won't leave the poor thing alone...

Guests at Royal Park have use of all facilities in village - except Royal Bay hotel. It looks ok but not being able to use it, not sure what the score is. It's only a short walk along the beach away though and all watersports etc. are same as Royal Park so you should be ok

Other than Sunny Beach for a night out mate I can't think of anywhere off-site. There is a small bar called Paco's though. It's easy to find - when you walk out of the hotel gates, look to your left and there's a small cafe type place, go to the right of it and follow path round for about 100 yards, you'll see Paco's in front of you (like a surf-shack type place). Cheap food and beer and a good alternative to the hotel for a change of scenery.

we had a lovley time at the hotel, there is room for impovement, but thats wherever you go, food needs to be better for the kids,i had a one year old and the bady food i could get for her was ok, would have like to be able to get a few differnet meals for her ,they all seamed to be the same. i will say if it rain's the entertainment team can not find somewhere biggerenoghth for all the geasts so they go in the small irish bar which is not very big and very hot in there we had to come out as the kids were to hot and so were we. the night life there then was dead so a pack of cards may be a good idea,we made friends which help as a hoilday is what you make it. the saff was ok with some people (IF YOUR FACE FITS) the thing i found about the hoilday was set your alarm at 6am for a sunbed around the pool then back to bed for some sleep up at 8 for breackfast so there was knif and forcks and glasses and mugs, then by the pool for the day. then go up early for dinner for the same reson, and then so you can get a good tabale to see the kids at night when the entarment on's thats what got up my nose, but we all did have a lovely time there, i don't know if i stay there again. when we were there it rain 3 night running and soom of the rooms there were flooded not ours but the ones that did were really bad, the night life there is poor only when it rains.

Returned from the Royal Park last Monday the place was amazing every one was very friendly the place was spotless could not find any fault with it.Another thing about the place was that it felt so safe there the kids (5 & 6) could play the game machines by night while you had a drink and you knew they were alright. it was great having the beach so close and that you did not have to swap every thing with you.we will be going back there again and I have no problem recommending the place to any one.

Have booked the Royal Park for August next year for 2 adults and 2 kids ( 3 & 5). Anybody any comments about the Falcon kids clubs (how long each day and what sort of things they get up to. Can you do water activities on the beach at the hotel while the kids are being supervised at the club. Would appreciate any comments and tips

That was all in ... Took £700 in lev = 2000lev and £300 in cash ... took all the cash home and struggled to buy with what we had left ... kids got a number of extra tops and stuff.
The hotel exchange was a con at 2.45lv to the £ and we rented a safe for the fortnight at 98lv = £35ish
There was 4 of us ... Me the missus and 2 girls aged 12 & 14 ...
Again we didnt bring alot back this year except the pictures and some clothes for the kids

we ha ve just returned from a 2 week holiday 8 people in our group 4 adults 4 kids 12 12 14 15 we had a great time the hotel was very clean sunbeds a bit of a nightmare to get had to set the alarm early the entertainment by the english reps tends to be a bit repetitive each day the bulgarian reps much better so was there evening entertainment the choice of resturants to eat at were nice and varied the pools were cold but that is what you need if you are sitting in 35 degrees sun each day as we were, word of warning though take ear plugs for the pool lots of people including my own children got ear infections had to see the doctor on site for treatment very expensive!!!! but apart from this excellent holiday would recommend hotel to anyone.

Sarah ... The hotel does sell loads of alcohol and some of your Smirnoff Ices, Barcardi Breezers ... these are a similar price to back home... Unfortunately none of the Scottish national Drink !!! (Irn Bru)!
Grace ... There are Peacocks and Peahens and a Deer that wander the grounds of the resort, the Monkey and Parrot are caged near to the Animation hall in the Holiday village..
All appear to be well taken care of although the monky could do with a bigger room ! ;)
Tommy ... I took £700 (2000 Lev) with me ... I Spent 800 Lev on pictures of the wife, Kids and family Pets and still survived on the remaining 1200 which included 3 trips to Nessebar, 2 Trips to Sunny Beach and a trip to Bourgas (all by taxi, which is more flexible than the arranged trips) .. I did take my bank card and drew 100 lev (£35) in Sunny Beach and found this far more flexible...
Sorry Shaun didnt enjoy himself, however delighted to see that most people have had the same great experience as me !!

returned from royal park on 31/7. Had the best holiday in years. 2 children, 9&5 who had a whale of a time. First Choice kids clubs are heaven sent. daytime and afternoon sessions and also movie club at night so we could enjoy our time. Were very worried after reading all the reports but went with open mind and loved it. Food was that good we put on a few pounds ! Never experienced the snacks running out. Hotdogs, pizza and even roast chicken available!
Room was beautiful, great view. Standard room but plenty big enough for 4. Cleaned every day with fresh towels. Only little moan all holiday was that you have to be up really early if you want to get a sunlounger as they are in great demand! Have recommended this hotel to many people as it is great value for money.
Car hire was good value rather than the organised trips. Nessebar was the overall winner with even the children loving shopping! The weather was even better than expected also, very hot when we were there. It rained once and that was overnight.

I have heard on other websites that there is a monkey, a deer, a parrot and a peacock in the hotel. Could anybody give me more info on this? Also is it easy to spot dolphins from the balconys? Do all the balconys face on to the sea?

Confused by Shaun's comments but each to their own I suppose. The only cold food we encountered was supposed to be cold - i.e. ice cream and salad. Heading for Royal Park on 29 August for 2 weeks, booked way back in January so it's seemed like forever before we go. I have been watching this and other sites for a few months and have noticed 2 distinct groups of people contributing, the semi-literate whiners who are determined not to enjoy themselves at any price and on the other hand people who go on holiday to have a good time. I count myself and my partner Geraldine among the later. So If anyone who reads this is around Elenite between 29/08 and 12/09/2005, look out for the big(21 stone) middle aged Irishman, drinking all the booze and eating all the food, just come up and say hello>

It costs £9 per adult for a full day - cheaper for under 1.3m in height. Also they offer half day passes at about £5 for entrance from 3pm until it closes at 7pm. Lovely and clean, food and drink a bit dearer that outside but still very reasonable. Walking distance from Sunny beach - find market and walk straight up behind it about 5min and you will be at warehouses turn right and you will see the big slides about another 5 mins walk. Enjoy.

we got back from the royal park last saturday. We had a lovely time. We looked for you Big Al? but you must have been keeping a low profile as I met a few people from this web site and non of them could find you either. I did ask the rep to ask for you over the mike one night but they wouldn't.
Anyway my husband and I were a bit concerned about our 15 year old, thinking she would be bored?? needn't have worried, she made lots of friends and had a wonderful time. Also with the complex being enclosed it meant that she was allowed a little more freedom than usual without us having to worry too much.
When we arrived we had the wrong room, with a sofa bed for Abbie, however mentioned this to the rep and were immediately given a suite with 4 beds and a sofa bed. I have to say that the only thing I could moan about was the food, which wasn't always very impressive but then I am really fussy about food and I usually found something. Just read the message from shaun, and I am surprised by his comments. We always found the beach lovely and clean, any debris at the end of the day was as a result of holiday makers too lazy to put their rubbish in the bins provided. However, the beach was cleaned every night. Don't know how you could have had an awful time?? I would agree that the hotel is possibly not a 4*, we stayed at the 4* platinum in tunisia at easter and it couldn't compete with that, however a two week stay at the same place would have cost twice as much as the royal park. We would definately go back.
Earlier comments complained about the miserable staff. Again I do not agree with this at all, the staff were lovely, very cheerful and helpful. Cleaners were busy around the hotel all day, although they should spend a little more time cleaning the toilets on the ground floor which are used by people by the pool,and were often not very pleasant by the afternoon. We really enjoyed the shows by the animation team, the poolside entertainment we found a little repetative, but then it was mainly for families with small children and those who enjoy bingo and lots of people seemed to be really enjoying this, so i think that is just a personal thing for me.
We found a lovely little bar just outside the complex gates where we went for a change of scene. Not the one right next to the gates but a little way up the track to the left. It is called Paco's bar. It is run by Paco (who also does sailing lessons at the royal park) and Karis. They were really friendly, the booze was very cheap (a large bottle of becks was 1.5lev.) the food was really nice too - we often slept in and missed breakfast so went there instead, really nice and really cheap AND a DECENT cup of coffee (told you I'm fussy!) The place was lively on a night, we left at 3am one morning and the place was still bouncing.
We had a lovely time and would definately go back. If anyone wants to ask any questions I would be happy to help.

We came back last weekend and will certainly be going back, had a really relaxing holiday, and though there were no clubs for our kids as both teenagers they enjoyed themselves, we took my sons portable DVD player, so could plug into TV at night and play the cheep DVD's that you could buy on site.
The food was great, kids loved the Pizza and Ice Cream.
We had a suite and it was massive, though a little difficult to find on the first night (long story).
It was a bit out of the way, but we managed a couple of trips on bus's to Nessabar (really pretty town) and sunny beach (horrid place).
Don't get upset by the customer service, I think there needs to be a bit of a training scheme put in place, but the staff are really nice once you get used to their ways.
Anyway we really loved it and will be going back next year, hopefully

Lovely big hotel right on the beach. We stayed in a kids den suite which was the biggest and nicest hotel room we have ever stayed in. Plenty of free sunbeds and parasols on the beach. Staff very good especially in the Irish bar. Plenty of choice of food in restaurants and various snack bars. Water Park in Sunny Beach worth a visit at £9 for a day pass. Will definitely be going back to Bulgaria.

Big Al is spot on with his report. I returned home on the 30th July. Went on a couple of excursions - Donkey Safari is a good day and also the Saturday Night Live show put on by the reps (who work non-stop).
We hired a car for 3 days, pre-booked from home it was something in the region of £100 and driving there is easy - even the taxi drivers realise you might not know exactly where you're going and don't intimidate you.
Don't be put off by moaners, Al's right the hotel and everything about the holiday is superb. People there said they've had better choice of food on other all-inclusive hols but we found the food and the service fantastic.
If you want to get the waiters etc on your side - slip a couple of Lev tip here and there, it's only pennies to you and me but makes a difference there (the service is still good if you don't tip)
No kettle in our room but don't know abouit the others, room size fine for 2 adults & 2 kids.

I drank beer, but the rest drank most everything else ... no real complaints choose your tipple
Didnt do excursions ... teamed up with 3 taxi drivers for the 12 of us .... took 20lev each way to Sunny beach... 30 Lev e/w to Nessebar and 50 lev to Bourgas ...

Mark re hotel room size. We had a norm,al room and it was fine. didn't go on the tours so dopn't know anything about them.It's a great resort and I'd definetly go back. By the way I left my wallet in the hotel and got it back through the hotel and reps via DHL with the money still in it so they are honest as well.

The paving is more like crazy paving, but okay n parts ... especially around and between both hotels ... The restaurant is on the Ground Floor and believe here are lifts to the remainder of the Floors in th RP, however was on floor 1 last year and never used them ... The holiday vilage is mainly stairs as are their amenities ... Think the access will depend on your room in the RP ... access to the tallyanna restaurant is by way of afew steps as is the beach ...
I dont think you will have too much trouble accessing most of the amenities either by wheel chair or using sticks ... hopefully anyways

Message for Big Al, We must have been at the Royal Park same time as you last year and it looks same time this year, I too have put previous comments on this sight and love this hotel but I think you arrive a few hrs before us so don't be hogging all the sunbeds keeps some for the Port Posse, I'll be the one with the bandana on head during the day.

went out beginning of July. Must admit first imression was great as we had a suite and it was huge. It was not until the next day that we found some things were not really up to 4* standard. Beach great. Service poor. for an all incl there are to many areas for you to still spend money so watch out if you have kids. Enteratiment great for familes and the first choice reps great. No good if you are disabled as all paths are very uneven and the area around the pool is packed to the rafters. I feel teh area was safe.
You need to eat out as the restuarant was very limited even the al a card (instead of carte). Limited drinks incl around the pool so if you have done a few all incl you will be dissappointed with that. slow servie at all bars and resturants.
As the holiday was so cheap we did not mind jumping in a cab an eating out as value for money in sunny beach was great, you even get a bit of bulgarian food in town (on sign in hotel). Beach was left untidy at the end of the day and concidering he number of staff in the hotel there was no reason. Shops on site more expensive than those in town.
The hotel i worth a visit but don't think you are getting a 4* but if you are happy with a 3* you will love it.

Arrived back after two weks on Sat 2/7/05. We had an brill time.The food was OK.(We wernt ill). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room had air con was smart and cleaned daily. The air tours staff did the usual songs and "show" in the evening, but we prefered the productions by the Bulgarian reps in the annimation hall. We loved the beach and the pools were good too.The drink was ok but the spirits were a bit rough - at first. Met some new friends but as always there were a couple of idiots arround. Didnt want to come home and will definately be recomending it to friends with youngsters up to the age of about 14. Realy pleased we went.

We were at the Royal Park at the beginning of june where we met a 20 year old girl who had travelled on her own. the resort is totally safe, it's a private resort with 3 hotels and a private beach. i don't know about going out and about but from what we saw you'd be fine but at the royal park itself you'll have no worries whatsoever and will definately find people to chat to if that's what you want. go and enjoy your holiday and don't worry whatsoever. i'd have no worries in going back on my own whatsover!

Having never done a package holiday, let alone an all inclusive I have read with interest all comments, good and bad, relating to Roayl Park. I am of the opinion that you reap what you sow and it is down to ever individual to make the best of any holiday. What I am really keen to find out, however is what the shopping is like and how much money I should take for the same also where are the best places to go for casual shopping? And also, Big Al, my party appears to be overlapping your party's bread by one week, how will we know who you are?

We have just got back from the Royal Park. We dont have any complaints about the hotel, the food, the staff or the weather! The only complaint we have is the amount of British Whingers that are there to moan about how Bulgarian the place is and why cant they have shepherds pie and egg and chips for tea!!!! This hotel would be fabulous if it threw out over half of the British and let the Bulgarians give us a taste of their culture. We stayed out of the main restaurant because it catered for British ( we nicknamed it the Canteen). First night there was Shepherds Pie and Chicken Korma. Not what we went to Bulgaria for!! Got really friendly with Radislav and Dimitris at the lobby bar. Excellent people and really friendly. Go to the Talyana for bbq and meet Christina and all the staff. They are really friendly people. Remember give respect to get respect!! The staff took us out of the resort to Packo's bar and we had a ball with the locals away from the Brits!! The food in the Talyana was excellent. We also tried the Al Carte and the Bulgarian restaurant, Sozopol. Very good and not a shepherds pie or egg and chips in sight, Whoo hooo!!! If you want British food and British entertainment my advice is stay at home and go to Blackpool and leave Bulgaria alone. That way people like ourselves will have a better time in a great hotel with great staff!
Would appreciate if Big Al would say hi to Christina in the Talyana ( say its from Big Dave , the waiter) and Stefan & Dobbi in the beach Bar. We really appreciated their hospitality. All in all, the first choice reps should leave the place alone and let the Bulgarians get on with it. They are far better at the job!

I was really worried when I went to this hotel(13-21 June) having read some of the comments here.But I have to say we had a great time.The food was fine and there was always a good choice.The staff were friendly although their English isn't great but better than my Bulgarian.The complex is constanly clean.The entertainment was a good laugh if a little cheesy at times,a bit Hi-de-hi butlinsish at times,but they work hard at it.go to the animation hall a few times,they do good shows there at night.The kids club is really good(not on Thursdays)and the show films at night,unfortunately my child was too young!! the weather was great but did get a little chilly at night but I'd definetely go back.Don't worry about it and enjoy you're holiday!!

Have read all the good and bad reports but I'm still looking for feedback on the Hotel, suites, food, costs, entertainment, cleanliness, shopping and site seeing. larger M&S stores do have a foreign exchange and provide cash lev !
Only advice given to me was make sure you get at start of the week as they drop rate on a Friday to cover any fluctuations over the w/e

Mary ... I took a mixture last year, however this year im taking mostly Lev ... M&S are doing 2.81 to the £ ... as good a rate as I think you will get ... might get a wee bit better in Sunny beach but there is the inconvenience factor there for a couple of stolonkis ! and I cant be bothered queueing ... the hotel rate is poor .. think someone has already said they only got 2.50 at reception ! ... also taking some English cash .. There are painters in the village that do portaits .. Family, Individual and/or pets ... got one last year and it is Fab so going to get a couple with the Pets this year and you get a better deal from them if you payin English money ... Have a great holiday I only have 23 days to go !!!!

Mary ... I was in your position last year ... checking all the reviews and worrying daft about my Holiday ... However on arrival ...loved it and booked again for this year ... THIS IS NOT an 18-30 Venue, All Action/Activity Resort it is a quiet complex that sits on its own, is relatively self contained and is of a high bulgarian standard ... IMHO this probably equates to 3-31/2 Star british rating ... provided you dont want chips and chicken nuggets at every meal then I would say the food on the whole is quite good ...
Go with an open mind ... I dint see any of the disasters shown in the photos...

I would say that the evenings can get a little chilly but with the all inclusive beverages - it tends to feel warmer. However, if you do feel the cold a jumper may be a good idea.

There are 4 restaurants you can use
HOTEL Restaurant - Mixed Food for most palletes
SCHOZPOL - Bulgarian Food
TALLYANNA - Barbeque Food
SUNSHINE - Grill ... Steak & Chikeny stuff
The village is okay and there are loads of activites on day and night ... much is geared for the younger kids tho, although mine 13 & 14 made their own entertainment ... Junior Discos etc were run most nights in a large hall palce and there were children of all ages. Main thing for me was I felt the place was secure and the kids could go about the resort without undue supervision
My hint would be go with an open mind ... treat the bulgarians as you would wish to be treated yourself ... remember these staff earn on average £20-30 a week and an occassional 5 lev tip (£1.70) goes a long way ...

here here Al, we got back 2 days ago after spending a week at the royal park and had a wonderful time. i would have no hesitation in going back. it is a foreign country with a different way of life so i think if people want food cooked the english way they should stay in england!! as for broken tiles and stuff, maybe there were a couple but not that you'd really notice and the staff are lovely, maybe they could be rude if you are rude to them which is what may have happened in some peoples cases on here judging by the attitudes in their reports!!

Hi. Thanks Darren and big Al for you replies. A few more questions. The 'complainers' say that there is nothing to do for older kids. Abbie is 15 and we usually take one of her friends with us but they can't make it this year. Were there many teenagers there? She will be mostly happy to sunbathe and chill out but would hope she will make some mates whilst there.
What is the village like? If you stay at the RP can you eat anywhere in the elinite village? are there many restaurants? What is the turkish baths place like?
Darren, how much did it cost to keep the suite for a late departure?
Sure there are loads more questions i want to ask but thats it for now!!!

The suite that we had was huge. The master bedroom had 2 what seemed like double beds together and a fold out sofa. My daughters bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together. Both rooms had balconies with great views. We had fantastic maid service who cleaned the room daily and even gave my daughter a chocolate bar as a gift. We pre booked our late check out - leaving the room after 6pm and were not hassled at all. We were really pleased. We have stayed at the Atlantis hotel in the Bahama's and said that the quality was on a par with it. I think that all the problems from 2004 have now been sorted through a change in General managment. Hope you have a great stay as we did. I think a holiday is what you make it - if you want English hospitality - stay in England. If you know what I mean.

You see BIG AL,i said give it a few weeks/months and the bad reports will start flooding in! I was right,check out the reports below my one, i am so glad people are writting in about this hotel,it just proves that the hotel has not improved itself since the hole six months of closing due to refurbishments (End of season October to April). We received a letter before we went on are holiday saying that big improvements were getting made, looks like there's been none, due to other people's reports!

I have just booked the royal park despite all of the awful reviews from some people. I have read some wonderful reviews especially from you two. When I checked these review sites I have found awful reviews for some of the hotels we have stayed in over the past couple of years and we have had a wonderful time.
I wanted to ask Darren what a suite is like??? We have booked a 2 bedroomed suite for the 3 of us. Was it nice? was it easy to keep the suite on as we have a late departure???
Big Al seems to love the place and when I checked your last message, i see we will be there at the same time as we fly from newcastle on 15th july. See you there.
Any advise, info would be greatly appreciated (positive though please)

We have just had a quick peak at Clarke from Lincolnshire's report (Thanks to Lesley's advice) and he/she is explaining everything on what went wrong during are stay here in July 2004. Clarke explains about the food mostly,so Clarke a very big Thank You to you, by reading your report it proves that the food facility's at the Royal Park Hotel have still not improved from when we last went. My husband and i are feeling your pain Lesley, i know how upset you must be, when we went in July 2004, we had Thunderstorms all the time and all the Entertainment was taking place inside EVERY NIGHT, it wasnt much fun for us! expecially when are rooms were flooded.Are regards go to you Lesley, don't worry you learn from your mistakes.

Lesley, I read your comments on the hotel and found it very interesting to find I was not the only person to find The Royal Park Hotel facilities Disappointing. The food i recieved was cold which annoyed me seeing i expected a 4 star meal service which i paid for.The hotel staff were pleasant enough though when i reguired their help. Rooms were nicely decorated but the cleanliness and maintanence of the rooms were dissipointing.The holiday overall was good and the beach was beautiful the situation of the hotel couldn`t be better. The lack of entertainment for adults resulted in myself and friends to leave the hotel to go to Sunny Beach during the night this continued over the several nights in which we stayed so i believe entertainment facilities were of poor quality and need to be improved. Hope those who are to go on holiday to Elenite enjoy thier stay as far as mine i will not return to the Royal Park Hotel unless improvments have been made.

This is for christine & dave,them pictures that were on www.holiday-truth.com were taking by a friend off mine last year,when i first saw them i was shocked too however,i still wanted to go and view it for myself,if there had been any changes by the time we go,how wrong was i, my first choice rep on the other hand TOLD ME to take pictures of the 'BROKEN TILES AND UNEVEN FLOORS' so that when i get home i would defitnely be intitled to compensation. I did not spend my 1 WEEK holiday taking pictures, i tryed to enjoy myself, but it was to quite,it was more for old aged pentioners,on the other hand your kids might enjoy it as there is quite a bit for kids to do, but there is absolutely nothing for adults what's so ever, believe me,here is a bit of advice when you go please take some pepto bismol with you as my children ended up with a tummy bug all threw the holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well we've just got back from the royal park and had a fab time, my kids didn't want to come home. they always found plenty to eat, the beach was gorgeous and the hotel is awesome. it is pretty much a resort in the middle of nowhere but it means the kids can roam and you know they're safe. some people are just born to complain so i'd just say go and have an ace time, we did!

These people obviously don't know how to enjoy themselves on holiday if they spend most of their time looking for broken tiles and uneven floors!!!! I agree if you are looking for a busy, lively, noisy all action holiday then maybe Elenite is not for you, however for us with youngish children I felt safe and secure... the Taxi to Sunny BEach was only £10 return !! and we did go there and to Nessebar several times during our stay .... From you comments I assume it was a different type of holiday you were looking for but again as I said before the resort is what you make it ... Bret glad to see yer positive and sure you wont be disappointed !

I have read the review's on last year and believe me it hasn't changed at all.Its only the start of the season,give it a few months and the bad reports will start flooding in!

Hi, I have just returned from my stay at the Royal Park and it was AWFUL, there was nothing for you to do as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere,my children were so bored, i am so glad we only spent one week there! It is quite a long distance to get to the wonderful Sunny Beach, but it is defitnely worth a visit as they have more restaurants & bars, the Irish Bar at this Hotel was too small and gets really cramped, especially when the entertainment shows are on,during the time of the shows my family and i would get a taxi to sunny beach and this was quite often! The food at the hotel was very cold and there wasnt a great selection,it looked like the food was saved from the night before,my children lived on pizza during are stay here and now they are both recovering from food poisoning! The staff were very rude and disrespectful especially the First Choice reps, I will defitnely not be visiting this hotel ever again,it was a complete waste of money,My husband said it reminded him of BUTLINS abroad.

Hi Mark, we just returned and the rooms that we had were big enough. We had a 2 bed suite for three of us (2 adults, 1 5yr old), with plenty of room. The main room was the size of an airport terminal - or so it seemed.
Hope you enjoy your stay !! We did.

We have just returned from the Royal Park this morning after having a brilliant week. A holiday is what you make it - we had a fantastic time and didn't feel the need to whinge about anything at all.
We found all the staff very friendly even though at times the language barrier proves difficult. If you are polite to them they will be polite to you.
The hotels facilites are excellent. We were really impressed with the room - a 2 bed suite. The main room was massive with all the facilities that you would need. We were on the 7th floor and had no problem with hot water.
Food was great with plenty of selection. One tip - use the main restaraunt in the holiday village as this tends to be quieter. Also book to go to Talayana - great BBQ food.
Entertainment was good - especially the Animation team, with good dance shows in the Animation Hall.
Swimming pool was really cold to start with but when the weather hotted up became refreshing.
Overall, we were really impressed by the Royal Park and all it has to offer. If you go with an open mind and ready to enjoy your holiday regardless, you to will have a great time.

I have just returned back from Royal Park on Saturday morning. It was absolutely brilliant. Lots of people moaned about the smallest of detail (the tomatoes were too soft!), they obviously went on the intention to complain. Room was massive, fridge, hairdryer, power shower (if on the top 3 floors water tended to run out between 5.30 and 7pm, they said this will be fixed this week). Food was great, plenty of choice. Snacks only open til 5pm, so stock up at the shop for crisps etc as dinner finishes at 9.30pm and there is nowhere to get snacks after then. Entertainment was great, look out for Stefan the Animation entertainers, he is one of the Bulgarian Chipendales! Bus route into Sunny Beach is great fun, you just push your way onto the bus, costs about 60p max each way. Donkey Safari is well worth a go. A holiday is what you make it. The hotel is only new so do expect little faults, go and have fun, we did. We are booking this week for next year same time. Look out for Maria in the Irish bar, she works 10 am til 2am most days and smiles all the time, her english is great.

I worked at the Royal Park for 2 months. It is a beautiful hotel and many activities to do through out the day with First Choice and the local animation team, The local animation teams shows were amazing!!!!!! the scenery is gorgeous especially Ivan (the secruity gate) def make me go back anyway

Have just found this web page ... trying to research the RP with visitors comments for this year ... I was there last year with a group of 20+ with ages varying from 11 - 70
Fantastic location, superb staff, food in the main very good and we all though so much of the place we booked again within 3 days of returning home !!
We go on the 18th July and I am counting the days ... hopefully someone will post some updates soon.
Jullie ... IMHO you have done the right thing .... Fab Holiday Resort ... will let you know more when I get back !

i have booked a holiday to Royal Park Hotel for the end of August 2005. This will be our first holiday abroad in 7 years! There is four of us going, me, hubby 15 year old daughter and 8 year old son. We returned from Royal Park 23.5.05. We had a great time. Lovely hotel, very clean. Good size rooms. 2 adults 1 13yr old boy, 1 double bed and a bed settee for my son. We found the food to be quite acceptable with a range of choices which did include chicken and pork, but in a nice variety of dishes. There was also fish and veal with plenty of salad, fruit and potatoes, including chips!!!!!!!!!! Breakfast ,cereal, bacon, eggs , various sausages etc. Lots of bars and snack places, indoors and out. Lovely main pool, 2 others on complex. Lots of stuff going on in day if you choose to join in ie quizzes, volley ball, waterpolo, rifle shooting etc. Evening entertainment ok, lots of bars, we mainly went to the animation hall which was like pontins/haven type with kids club and reps doing shows which was ok after a few beers. We watched dolphins in the sea from our balcony which was fab. Lots of water activities, windsurfing, canoeing ,surfboardin, which was great. Watch out for jelly fish tho. Went to Sunny Beach by bus a few times, lots of building work going on between elenite an Sunny Beach. Bus fare cost 1.60 lev, taxi costs 20 lev. Lots of activity in sunny beach, lots of bars, restaurants, discos, minigolf and a market for your genuine fakes. Be careful with sizes if u are taking home prezzies cos they r a bit on the small side and check size of goods they actually give you in bags as they differ from sizes on display, double check!!!! Staff at hotel seemed quite pleasant. Overall we had a lovely holiday (1 week) Would definately return. :-)

My family and i are visiting the Royal Park Hotel on the 30th May 2005 for 2 weeks all inclusive. I am very nervous about this holiday now after reading some bad reports. i would be grateful if anyone who has been this season could maybe update me as to wether the comments made hold any weight.

We went to the Royal Park Hotel August 04,our first holiday abroad with our three young children costing £4,000. We were rather upset to find that the adjoining rooms that had been requested for us, turned out to be 2 rooms at either end of a corridor, we asked for a transfer but non was available?? so 5 of us ended up sharing a room with the children sleeping on a settee bed for 2 wks. We found the staff to be extremelly rude shrugging a shoulder at you(we later found that this was their version of swearing) and then turning and completley ignoring who ever was trying to talk to them. The levels of cleanliness of the catering and bar staff was unbelievable, we often saw staff at the pizza shack picking their teeth and then picking up pizza! The chefs and catering staff in the main restaurant often came out of the toilets and didn't wash their hands, although more often than not the toilets were flooded,We wonder if this is why we all had sickness and severe stomach cramps and had to visit the hotel doctor and pay for the privaledge, although this seemed to be the case for the majority of the people staying there, many needing hospital treatment and had to be put on drips. The hotel although only 6 weeks old was falling to bits the lifts were constantley not working, plug sockets hanging off walls, the swimming pool part collapsed, and every time we had heavy rain we had power cuts and the hotel flooded. So thankyou Royal Park Hotel for the worst holiday we have ever had we will not be returing. A waste of money and a waste of 2 weeks holiday.

We went to Royal Park Hotel in July 2004 and yes there was still work being done to it. The work was very minimal and did not disrupt our holiday at all. We had such a great time that we booked again for this year and will be there in July 2005. The staff were friendly, the food and drink where flowing, the only thing I would say is more staff serving as the queues where quite long during the day. Our rooms was probably the best we have ever been in (and we have travelled a lot), the Irish bar was a life saver at night as all guest used to congregate here and mingle. Would recommend Bulgaria and this hotel to anyone. Looking forward to 2005

After reading the horror stories posted earlier in the summer we were somewhat reluctant to go to this hotel. Having only returned this week to then see the Holiday Package uncovered story about the Royal Park I was glad I had not seen this before our arrival!
However all in all I accept there were obviously serious issues when it first opened but most of these seem to be resolved. The staff at the hotel were not rude at all and could not do enough for us. There all attempt to speak english and some are very fluent. The place is constantly kept clean.
We were provided with fresh towels daily and in the 2 weeks our sheets werre changes at least 5 times. The food whilst not always the hottest was plentiful and so much choice available. At least 3 or 4 choices of main each lunch and dinner with loads of fresh fruit and salad always available.
People than have previously moaned about the non suitable food need to learn that there is more to any diet that Chips!! Apart from certian people acting like complete vultures when chips were produced the system for food service worked well and we rarely queued.
My only complaint and it isn't about the hotel is the complete lack of control and rep presence at the airport when we were departing and it was chaos getting through to passprt control - it took us almost 2 hours to go about 10 feet and as a result we almost missed our flight!

After reading reports on this site, we too were very wary of what we would find. Everyone who has complained that this hotel does not meet with British Standards is quite correct. However, this hotel is in Bulgaria and it does meet their standards. If you want a hotel to British requirements, stay in the UK and don't expect to get one for £560/2 weeks/all inclusive. Are they all mad ?
The hotel staff were all very polite, even though their English may not have been up to much. Better than any Bulgarian I heard spoken by a British tourist.
The hotel was clean and linen and towels changed on a regular basis.
The food was good - considering the numbers catered for over a 2 hour period. Children in Europe are expected to eat "adult" food - not burger and chips for every meal. There was a choice of meat and one fish dish with potatoes rice or pasta; salad and cold meats and a large amount of fruit. I am a very fussy eater and haven't lost any weight!
The swimming pools are very cold, but this didn't seem to both any of the kids. The sea was a little warmer but did have jelly fish.
The only complaint I had about the hotel, which I am surprised nobody else has mentioned, is the caged monkey and the clipped pelican, both at the hotel and I did complain to the reps.
All in all, great value for money, although the adult evening entertainment is very limited.

The hotel was impressive, the rooms were also impressive, we were on the 8th floor in connecting rooms 884 and 882 with a fantastic view of the complex, beach and the sea.
The hotel was very clean although the amount of dimps put out on the new carpet and left by the holiday makers made you feel ashamed.
The food seemed to go down hill rapidly after the first week which wasn't great to start with, the crockery in the Bulgarian restaurant was appalling and we were just looking at each other and thinking oh my god!
The Bulgarian BBQ at the shack was by far the worst thing I have ever had on my plate. I wouldn't feed anything like that to my dog, and it looked like any left over food from the canteen was just BBQ'd up the night after.
The staff were miserable behind all the bars and only ever had a smile on there faces when you put some lev in the tip glass, as if we hadn't paid enough already.
For entertainment take some playing cards with you or plenty of taxi money.

Arrived on the Monday afternoon expecting a nightmare fortnight after reading previous reports on this site!
I'm pleased to say we had a ball. The hotel was clean enough and very impressive to look at, the cleaner came in daily with a smile on her face, towels changed daily and bed linen every other day, the entertainment lacked slightly, but regardless of where you are, if you’re going to sit around waiting for other people to make you’re holiday for you, you may as well stay at home.
I wouldn’t like to disillusion people into thinking that this place is paradise, but for what we paid for this holiday (2200) for a family of 5, it was brilliant value for money!
The food wasn’t out of this world but it was all edible.
The drinks are pretty much what you would expect from any all inclusive hotel, and the wine definitely does the job, (trust me I’ve got the photos to prove it)
The swimming pool was cold due to a lack of sunshine on it but the sea more than compensated for this, like I said, if you are expecting paradise, then book for the Caribbean, but you won't get halfway there for what this holiday costs!

Again, very worried after reading all the reports, but I have had a fantastic holiday.
The hotel is great, not a 5* in Dubai or anything, but really really good for a relaxing, or family orientated holiday.
We had some problems, and I went to see the reps. Ian and Jason were on duty and they could not have been more helpful. They came to the room to check the problem, and within 20 minutes we had another room allocated to us, with sea view and a basket of fruit to apologise. These two became our mates throughout the holiday and we are really grateful. All the reps though were great. Never met a team of such hard working staff.
The kid's loved mini disco every night in the Irish bar, and Jumpin' Jules was excellent, all the kids loved him. Likewise the entertainers were brilliant, and did a great job in difficult circumstances.
The hotel was clean, the food was enjoyable and the beer kept on flowing!

There was four adults in our party, all in our early 50's, and were all very surprised by the Hotel, after reading a few of the horror stories, about the Royal Park
We had two rooms, facing the sea and pools etc., which were spotless, towels were changed everyday, beds every three days.
Food was o.k., always got something to eat, you have to remember you are not at home.
Hotel could have been done with more entertainment in the evening. Also an adults only room, entertainment by the animation team was great, First Choice had their entertaiment in the "Irish Bar", in the evenings, because of the cold nights, which we found to be very stuffy and always packed. A lot of people sat in the Reception area in the evenings, had a game of cards, dominoes etc.
The only complaint we had about the Hotel was that we were on the third floor and heard the people moving chairs in reception in the evenings and the staff putting them back about midnight, people on forth floor do not hear this. Other than that no complaints.

So what can I say that hasn't already been said. Firstly, I'd like to say that most of the people that where complaining did have something genuine to complain about. Sometimes.
Appearance.
The hotel is absolutely lovely when you drive up to it but as you get closer you can tell that Bulgarian workmanship is nowhere near to the standard that we are used to. But that wasn't just down to the Royal Park so i'd say you'd have to live with that. Going from Elenite to sunny Beach you can tell that the Bulgarian 'construction' methods are a little different to our own.
Our room was on the 7th floor and we had a lovely view of the beach and the room was spacious enough for the two of us. The cleaner cleaned our room every day bar one when she explained that she wouldn't be here because it was someones birthday.
Our air con did work and no sockets where hanging out but I don't know if that was the case for everyone else.
The lobby/reception is probably one of the nicest that I have seen and the balcony that leads from it gives you a really good view of the pool,beach and sea.
The dining area was a little cramped and some of the things could have been placed a little differently i.e. the bread somewhere near the soup.
The pool looks fantastic but I warn you that its one of the coldest I've ever been in but there are four in total that you can use.
The beach was lovely and this is where we spent most of our time. The sea was roasting and relatively clean but any rubbish there was down to our own lazy people just leaving it so what do you expect?
Food and Drink.
This was probably the major complaint for most people but I can safely say that from our party there was none. Most of the complaints I was hearing was because there wern't enough chips or burgers for the kids. Why not try them on something different and healthy? There was enough salad,soup,ice-cream and main courses to feed an army and I had no complaints about anything and this was the one thing I was worried about because I had only just recovered from a serious stomach complaint. I think it was down to what you expect. When I go to a foreign country I try to sample different things but then not everyone does so thats probably a thing you would have to consider.
The beer is plentiful but you are limited to two drinks at a time. This is usually at the bar-mans discretion and only enforced if its busy. That brings me to my only real complaint about the holiday. Queues. There are not enough bar-staff and there are enough ignorant people - British mainly, who will try and get served first rather than queue like the majority of people. That was my only real complaint.
Entertainment
Good mainly. The FC reps around the pool tried to keep everyone entertained and there are enough games and sports to keep you occupied. We mainly stayed on the beach where there are plenty of watersports to be tried.
The animation team put on a good show at night which was firstly for the kids (although it is in German) and then for the adults. (Bi-lingual) There was only one show that I didn't enjoy.
I mainly had a good holiday even after reading all the bad reports before leaving. We all went to enjoy ourselves and that is what we did. I'm not saying other people didn't have anything to complain about but that is the view we took.
If you like British, stay in Britain, if you'd like try something different then try Bulgaria.

Like so many others we too had many worries and concerns on the build up to our holiday. We went with an open mind, determined that we were going to enjoy ourselves, regardless of the comments we had read prior to our departure.
The Hotel was constantly being cleaned, by many members of staff. The polished marble floors didn't always lend themselves to this. There was one little girl that seemed to be there 24 hours a day cleaning the entrance!
The staff were very friendly and certainly spoke better English than we could speak Bulgarian.
The biggest problem we could see in the hotel were the British visitors. They seemed to be wearing a uniform of Red England football shirts most of the time. They had trouble holding their drink, maybe they shouldn't have tried to drink all day and night!
Luckily most of them left on the Monday of our 2nd week on the Manchester or Newcastle flights. Sadly they left their trade marks by punching through ceiling tiles along some of the corridors, and smashing the mirrors in the lifts.
My sons and I also had England football shirts with us but we were too ashamed to wear them, in case the other nationalalities there thought we were yobs as well.
We overheard an english chap at breakfast one morning telling his family sitting at his table that the place was a death trap, that none of the emergency lighting worked. How the hell did he know! If that was all he could worry about during his holiday then he's a real sad git!. Maybe the lights that had had lighted cigarettes thrown into them in the stairwells wouldn't have worked, but that was hardley the hotel's fault.
The place was full of compensation seekers, looking to pick holes in whatever they could. The reps had a hard time but in our opinion did an excellent job.
We did have a couple of problems but because we were polite to both the reps and the staff they were polite to us and bent over backwards to solve the problems.
The food was edible, none of us went hungry, sometimes it could have been better and we could tell when the english chef had a day off but it was ok.
We would certainly visit again, but it is not 4 star in our standards. The management and staff are trying very hard but tourism is still a very new industry there. They will get there but they have a lot to learn. Had we spent 4 star money we would not have been happy but we only spent 2 star money, that was all we expected and were not disappointed. What was disappointing was the yob culture of our countrymen which for the first time ever whilst abroad, ashamed us. We usually have problems with the french or germans but not this time, they were really nice people. We even asked some of the staff who they had most problems with, and without hesitation they said the British. What a shame!
The Bulgarians didn't spoil our holiday, it was the British!!

All inclusive was first time for us. But well worth its money. Never did we go hungry, there was always enough food both hot and cold, the kids loved to be able to go and get hot dogs, pizza, drinks themselves. Can’t understand people complaining about place not being clean!!!Both inside and outside hotel was very cleen.If you were nice to the staff there were nice to you, remember give respect to get respect. Irish bar too small and not enough tables and chairs so we did not get to see any English entertainment. People sent kids too keep places for them. I will visit this hotel again if I could fly direct from Norway.
