Albena readies gusher of investment for Bulgaria's southern sea coast

Dnevnik Daily, 05.08.2005

Diversified holding company Albena Invest Holding, 44.7%-owned by Albena AD, the operator of the eponymous seaside resort, intends to spend 5-7 mln euro on a new 5-star hotel in the northern part of Ahtopol, a resort town located 90 km south of Bourgas, on the Black Sea, Dnevnik learned from Boiko Nedyalkov, executive director of the holding company. Construction is due to begin in the fall of 2006 to have the facility ready for the 2007 tourist season. The hotel will have around 300 beds and will occupy a 0.57 ha lot. Albena AD has earmarked 50 mln levs for the development of a new holiday village in Primorsko, located some 55 km south of the port of Bourgas. The 4-star family-oriented resort will have 6,000 beds, said sales director Margita Todorova. Albena AD already operates one 4-star hotel and two 2-star hotels and 2- and 3-star villas in Primorsko but only 400 of the beds have a 4-star category. The company also has another 4-star hotel in the pipeline. Work on the large-scale development will get underway in 2007. In addition to the Primorsko investments, Albena AD has slated 12 mln levs for the renovation of ten 3-star hotels in the Albena resort. see source
