Ambassadors Become Citizens of PerpericonStandart Daily, 23 July 2006 The ambassadors of the Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Mongolia and Vietnam, headed by Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov and district governor of Kardjali Angel Kodjamanov conquered the ancient Thracian fortress of Perperikon. The famous Bulgarian archaeologist surprised them: In my capacity of this ancient town's last king I'm handing you these certificates proclaiming you honorary citizens of Perperikon. The diplomats followed the example of their host and put on T-shirts with a print of the rock fortress on them.
"Let this be a symbolic step towards the creation of a new team of friends of Perperokon," said Angel Kodjamanov at whose invitation the ambassadors visited the ancient city. During their visit the diplomats saw the Orpheus' tomb near Tatul, Momchilgrad region.
