I chose this hotel based on previous reviews, price and location and it didn’t disappoint. I stayed for a weeks’ skiing with my teenage son and we had a great time. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was well equipped, clean, modern and comfortable - we even had a view of the mountain. There was always a very good selection of food at breakfast and dinner and reasonably priced drinks. The pool, sauna and steam room were perfect after a day skiing. Thank you Casa Karina for a very enjoyable stay.

If room info says fully equipped kitchenette and actually nothing is there, then this is truely annoying. Sink leakages should also be mended.

The hotel is good from all points of view (services, staff, facilities, restaurant, spa area, ski center). However, I think that the cleanliness of the rooms should be improved and the bathrooms would require a complete renovation. In the spa area, not all saunas were functional.

We have stayed here for the last 6 year now, the hotel has changed in these years and got more expensive. There is no options to have just a room or bed and breakfast which is disappointing. there are no promotions on drinks and for loyal guest who have been coming regularly. We came in a group of 20 people.
The hotel rooms with sofa beds are unconfutable and the bed sheets did not fit the sofa bed correctly.

Food not to my likeing as alot of it was served cold not something we do in ireland or the uk maybe this could be looked at

Menu for new years dinner needs to be looked at as children and adults give the same food which was not acceptable and we had to almost demand some chips to be made for the children
Otherwise we would have had to go out and buy food for them.

I had to call to reception on multiple occasions for clean towels and additional toilet rolls.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at Casa Karina. Staff were very friendly and communal areas were clean and in great condition.
I am vegetarian and felt the was very little choice of food in the evenings. Many dishes were not labelled. There was no cooking or food preparation utensils or equipment in the apartment accommodation. We also had to request a plug for the bath from reception.
Rooms were very clean and the children's entertainment, including disco, playroom, pool table and football table were great. Also the massages at the spa were excellent and fantastic value for money.

We spend the new years holiday in a Studio room in building B.

PLUS:
-> the location is very good, within walking distance to the gondola (even while wearing ski boots).
-> the staff (from the front desk and restaurant) is very friendly and they were always fast in helping us.
-> there is underground parking (it costs 10 leva/day - but taking into account that the outside parking is 15 leva/day, I think it is a good deal). The number of parking places is limited, so I guess you need to be lucky to find one.
-> the food (we had breakfast and dinner included) is good and fresh, but don't expect anything fancy.
-> WiFi reception above average (both in the room and at the reception).

MINUS:
-> at the front desk there is a “toilet” smell (probably because it is next to a toilet).
-> the rooms are not sound-proof. “Sound-proof” is already a bit too much said - the walls are thin as paper, you can hear everything from the other rooms, even the people talking on a normal voice. Not to mention that you always hear the housekeeping ladies on the hallway (which are very friendly, btw).
-> the room cleaning was done very late every day (and sometimes even skipped completely) - we were back in the room at 4:30 PM usually and (as we were after a long skiing day) we wanted to have a shower - but every time we had to wait for the housekeeping for the clean towels.
-> there was a cleaning issue overall in the room: dust everywhere, stained mattress, stained bed-sheets.
-> the room was supposed to have a double bed - instead, there were 2 single beds put together. Of course that over the night, one of the 2 people would end up in the hole between the beds (not the mention the dust and rubbish that was between the beds).
-> there was only 1 nightstand in the room - quite odd.
-> I would suggest having more international TV channels (at least one international news station like BBC or CNN). The only channel which was not in bulgarian was TV1000.
-> although you have a functional kitchen (stove, oven, fridge, sink, cupboards), you don't even have one spoon or one pan. So we could not use the kitchen at all.
-> the spa is a joke: the pool water is way under 20 degrees (so very cold, could not swim in there). There were only 2 saunas working (taking into account that New Years Eve is peak season), 1 dry and 1 wet. The wet sauna had a poor ventilation, which allowed a lot of mold to be made on the ground and on the floor (nobody wants to breath in steams with mold). Outside the saunas, the floor is not even, which allows the formation of ponds of water that you must walk through - definitely not the 4* experience which you would expect. The massage prices are higher than the ones in Austria (and actually higher that in any other hotel in Bansko) - for example a 50 minutes Apres Ski massage is 120 leva ( ~ 65 EUR).
-> you have to pay extra 5 leva for the bathrobe (for the SPA) - which would be ok, if you at least got some nice robes. Instead we got some over-used red robed, with holes in them. Is this a 4* treatment?
-> New Years Gala Dinner: there is a mandatory gala dinner which you have to pay extra (90 EUR). The food was good, but everything was packed after midnight (why??). The problem was with the drink: we are a table of 18 people and we got 4 bottles of wine (750 ml each) for the entire table. In addition, we each got a 500 ml water, 1 can of soda and 1 glass with some sort of strong drink (tuica/palinca). That was it! I ordered one coffee which I had to pay extra. I would expect for 90 EUR per person to have at least one coffee included. This dinner was a ripoff.


Overall, the hotel is not a 4* stars - barely a 2 star motel.

As a family of 5 we booked this as it had 2 bedroom apartments which were of decent size and although quite basic, they were clean and more than adequate. Also the location is great with just a 5 minute walk to the main gondola station and nearby restaurants and supermarkets.

The food is ok - but you couldn't eat in there every night! It is half board, but the price of the hotel is that cheap compared to others we just accepted that that the HB was a bonus. If the price had just been B&B then it is still great value.

Would recommend and would probably book again

Camera era una de fumatori desi noi am optat pentru una de nefumatori.Mirosea foarte urit ca si cum s-ar fi fumat o saptamana cu geamurile inchise.Paturile au fost deplorabile.La unul ii lipseau picoarele de sprijin si se clatina ca o barca.Celelalte aveau niste saltele foarte uzate si zgomotoase.Ne-am adresat personalului din hotel pentru remedierea defectelor dar am fost tratati cu un mare dispret .Omul de intretinere de la receptie ne -a sfidat cu un aer de mare director dindu-ne de inteles in bulgara lui, ca nu il intereseaza daca s-a fumat in camera si ca paturile sunt ok si ca noi suntem cei care avem pretentii prea mari si daca ne convine bine daca nu asta e nu au posibilitate sa ne schimbe camera sau sa faca ceva in privinta curateniei.Altfel spus daca va convine bine daca nu pute-ti sa plecati.A fost jenant comportamentul nesimtit al bulgarului Andonov parca scria pe ecuson , dar la casa Karina nu mai merg niciodata.
