Bansko has a new lift

The Minister of Ecology and Environmental Preservation Nona Karadzhova signed an official document, confirming the construction of a new 6-chair lift in the area Bunderishka meadow in Pirin park. The company concessionaire of the ski area in Bansko, Ulen, is expected to construct the new lift. However, no detailed assessment of the eco situation has been made properly. The construction of the new lift will be made on the old route of the 4-chair lift, so forests will not be cleared. Moreover, the removal of old and the supply of the new lift should be made by air - by a helicopter.
The company has planned the construction of a new lift in Bansko in regards with the preparation for hosting the FIS World Cup Men 2011. The capacity of the lift will be 3000 persons per hour, which is three times more efficient than the old lift. It is important to note that NGOs are have showed great dissatisfaction due to a clerical error in the publication of the final decision of the ministry.Evdokiya Maneva, the deputy Minister of Ecology and Environmental Preservation, explained that a preliminary fulfillment is given due to the fact that opportunities for a construction are limited because of the variable weather conditions in the high mountain.
