Bulgaria Expects 3% More Tourists in Winter
Standart Daily, 01.10.2010
"Up to three percent more tourists are expected to prefer Bulgarian ski resorts in the winter season," said Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Economy, Ivo Marinov after marking the World Tourism Day by visiting Dragoman marsh. "Bearing in mind what I saw at the tourism exchange in Moscow, that the visas for Serbia and Macedonia were waived, the interest Greece has shown and the new equipment in the Bulgarian resorts, I feel optimistic about the season," Marinov concluded.
"We all believe the common VAT stake in tourism should be as low as possible," said Georgi Ikonomov, GERB MP. "The discussions started with variants like 14% VAT for tourism, now we consider rates of about 9 or 7%," Marinov said. If the tourism VAT is raised too much, a great part of the sector will turn grey, Ikonomov explained.
