Bulgarian will have 30 golf playgrounds

According to the national strategy for sustainable development of the tourism branch until 2013, golf tourism is one of the top priorities of Bulgarian tourism. “Modern tendencies in the tourism development revealed that the offered tourist products should be diversified”, explained the deputy chairman of National Tourism Agency Stanislav Novakov. In his opinion, golf has been included in the strategy since it has great potential to attract wealthy tourists. Therefore, 30 high class golf playgrounds should have been constructed in Bulgaria by the end of 2013. The state will take part in the construction of golf playgrounds through public and private partnership. The country will provide areas and the private companies will fund the construction of the facilities. There are 4 playgrounds with 18 holes at the moment, but two more are about to be put into operation. At least two golf playgrounds should be built near Borovets, Balchik, Bansko, Pomorie, Sozopol and Pamporovo according to the state strategy. The main aim is to double the money which each tourist will spend in Bulgaria in 2013.
