Fifth Consecutive “Museum Night” in Plovdiv

Plovdiv will be the host of the extraordinary “Museum Night” which will take place on the 2d of October for fifth year in a row. The event is dedicated to the art. This year 32 galleries, eight institutions and eight clubs will take part in the event. The exciting events which are included within the course the “Museum Night” and enhance the unique night atmosphere in Plovdiv city attract participants and guests from the country and abroad. Many International projects and artworks of foreign artists will be presented at the event. The initiatives will take place mainly in the Ethnographic museum with the exposition “The Bulgarian Renaissance”, in the house museum “Atanas” , the Art gallery museum – Philipopolis and the Town’s Art Gallery.

This year 45 participants will take part in the three parts of the program: “Museum and galleries”, “Cultural Institutions”, and “Clubs and open air city places”. The main group and individual art exhibitions will accompanied by art live performances-spectacles, concerts, discussions with the authors. Artists from Serbia, Nigeria, Ireland, Austria, Romania, Germany, Poland, Korea, France, Italy and Russia will also contribute to the rich program of the Plovdiv’s event. The program includes various challenges: the traditional photo competition “One night in Plovdiv” and also kids art workshops, which provoke the attention because of the unique style and creation. Special accents will be the multimedia spectacle “Without frontiers”, the exhibition from Irland by Ivo Hadjimishev, artworks by a painter from Nigeria and “The Unification of Bulgaria”, presenting photos from the Plovdiv museum. The Night of Museums is the shortest event in the rich 2-week program of the Autumn Salon of Arts, but it still has managed to occupy the whole art stage: from the museums in the charming Old city through the private galleries on the main street, and the underground clubs.
