5% growth of foreign tourists in Bulgaria

Rumen Draganov, a representative of the Institute for assessment and analysis in tourism, reported that this season is expected a growth of 5% of foreign tourists in Bulgaria. "Bulgaria should be on a par with world standards and implement new technologies in regards to the combat terrorist activities," said Rumen Draganov with reference to the Conference "The threat of terrorism and crime in tourism from the perspective of European Union policy’’, which took place in Sofia. Measures which have been discussed are more preventive, but absolutely crucial. This important meeting have been attended by the head of the operational Israeli secret service, FBI Deputy Director and a representative of the British secret services. "Last year the crisis of tourism in Bulgaria has reached the bottom. Only a quarter of the beds were occupied. Fortunately, the winter season most likely would finish more successfully than last year. Mr. Draganov reported that there was a growth of 14% only for the first two months of this year. According to him, tourist fairs in Berlin and Moscow have been rather successful and many SPA hotels have been sold. In his travel fairs that were organized in Berlin and Moscow were very successful and many spa hotels have been sold. "There is a growth of 17% tourists from Germany in Bulgaria’s seaside resorts and it is expected that generous discounts will be available for the whole summer season" said Rumen Draganov.
