Hilton Sofia Welcomes New General Manager

Hilton Sofia has announced the appointment of Jacques Brune on the position of General Manager to replace Friedrich W. Niemann. Jacques Brune, 41, received his university studies at the University of Toulouse, France. He has broad experience in hotel operations, especially in the food and beverage sector. His career steps include being Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at the Hilton Paris; Food & Beverage Manager at the Concorde Saint Lazare hotel in Paris; Director of Operations at the Hilton Charles de Gaulle. Since December 1999 Brune was in charge of the large operation (such as the Film Festival and all city congresses) at the Noga Hilton Cannes, the leading business hotel in Cannes with 234 rooms and 10 conference rooms. Jacques Brune, who speaks French and English, is expected to take on his Hilton Sofia position of General Manager at the end of August. Friedrich Niemann has managed the five-star hotel for more than two and a half years and will now take over responsibility of the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest Hotel, Hilton Sofia's press office announced. The 246-bed Hilton Sofia in Bulgaria was built for USD 43 M in 2001. The five-star hotel achieved an occupancy rate of 58% in 2004. A total of 58,000 people stayed at the hotel while the number of visitors at the hotel's eateries and entertainment venues was 210,000. Annual operating profit rose by 9% on a year-on-year rate. see source
