Kempinski may operate two hotels in Bansko

Dnevnik am The news@8, 12.11.2004

International hotel and resort operator Kempinski may take over the management of two five-star hotels in Bulgarian high-altitude resort town Bansko, it emerged at the construction and investment forum underway in Sofia. The general manager of Sofia's Kempinski Hotel Zografski, Josef Halbherr, announced at the forum the company was in the business end of talks to sign a management contract for the Grand Arena Hotel in Bansko. The Grand Arena will be the first five-star hotel in Bansko, due to open in February 2005. It will have a built-up area of 20,000 sq m. The project financing, seen at over 20 mln euro, will be provided by Plovdiv-based company Gehard. Talks are under way with Kempinski to operate the five-star Luxor hotel as well, investment adviser LV Consult said. The hotel is expected to go into operation in 2006. The investor - Bansko Resort OOD, is holding parallel talks on the future hotel's management with Radisson SAS. In Bulgaria, Kempinski is represented only in the capital but plans to branch out in the country with more five-star facilities in winter and summer resorts, spas and golf courses, said Halbherr. see source
