Momchilovtsi and Chepelare were awarded prizes for Unique European Settlements

The prizes for Unique European Settlements will be awarded to the village of Momchilovtsi and the winter resort Chepelare, both located in the famous Rhodope region. European Forum of Experts will bestow the awards on the 3d of March. Both municipalities have already received notification letters for their awards. Over 150 Bulgarian and foreign experts have concluded that Chepelare and Momchilovtsi meet the necessary requirements to be declared for unique European settlements. The criteria are rich cultural heritage, unique natural landmarks, the interest of investors and opportunities for future development.

Unique European Settlements are usually regarded to have made significant contribution to the European cultural heritage. Former winners of the prestigious award were Shiroka Luka, Smilyan and Mogilitsa. See source here See source here
