New tourism attractions in Chepelare are being prepared for the new winter season. This was officially announced by the mayor of Chepelare Municipality. At the moment, the ski tracks in the skiing centre “ Mechi Chal” are being renovated. A children center is in a process of construction near the upper lift station, as brand new restaurants will also crop up there. A few restaurants will be built near the old lift station. According to the mayor, Chepelare is preferred destination by the winter fans and the winter season is more profitable in comparison to the summer one, because the winter is warm and mild, and the snow cover lasts for a longer because of the high average altitude 1150m. Notwithstanding, Chepelare town does lack of tourists in the summer as well. In fact, August is pretty busy months compared to the past summer months as the summer in Chepelare is cool and fresh. There are many tourists now in the resort, both Bulgarians and foreign holidaymakers and, hence, the tourist information center works every day. The majority of foreigne tourists are from the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, the number of tourists in Chepelare has been increased this month in comparison to the previous one.
