Prices of ski holidays just before the high season for Christmas and New Year in Austria and Bansko are pretty much the same.

This was made clear from an article in Monitor Daily, which quoted a piece of information of big Sofia tour operator for the offers, having been compared 10 days ago at the WTM in London. Bulgarian offers in Bansko until 21st of December varies from 230€ to 260€ for a weekend for two, staying in 4-star or 5-star hotel, ski packages included. The price of ski holiday in similar Austrian resort is pretty much the same. However, ski schools prices in Bulgaria are more advantageous, especially for 6 days, because adult price is 45€, children price is 30€ and as usual the most expensive remain snowboard lessons-104€. No discounts on ski cards are planned to be made and for this reason it is worth booking ski holiday with prepaid ski services. In fact, this similarity between prices doesn’t much harm to Bulgaria as winter holiday destination, because the service quality, complementary activities, being offered to tourists, genuine care of the tourists in the resort are competitive to even the highest quality services in Austria. Taking into account the reason why tourists choose so often Bulgaria is not the “cheapest price”, but the most pleasant conditions. Moreover, almost all reservations for 4-star and 5-star hotels have been already made until the middle of January.

The ratio between Bulgarian and foreign tourists until New Year is 50%:50%, but after 10th of January it is in favour of foreigners 75%:25%. The predominance of tourists is from UK and Russia, being followed by skiers from Romania, Macedonia and Serbia.
