Risky Holiday ahead for Mountain Tourists
Sofia News Agency, 02.03.2005
Bulgarians who choose to spend the forthcoming holiday in mountain resorts should be on the alert, rescue services said. There is a serious risk of avalanches in the higher mountain areas, while freezing temperatures also pose a threat over holiday-makers. In many winter resorts temperatures have dropped to 17 below zero on Monday. Meanwhile, many Bulgarian people are making plans for mountain trips over the next four days, when national holiday celebrations merge into the weekend. Snowfall over the last two days has also provided good skiing conditions. Mountain safety services recommended to the holiday-makers not to wander off in the mountains by themselves, and to beware of snow-slips. see source
