Shabla Municipality expects more tourists to visit it this summer season, Shabla mayor Krasimir Krustev reported. In his words, the tourism sector in Shabla remains unaffected by the global financial crisis. The reason is that the resort is attractive for special groups of tourists who wish to avoid mass crowded resorts and prefer natural and historical landmarks in the region. In fact, it is believed that tourists from the neighbouring resorts such as Balchik and Kavarna will visit Shabla in weekends. The number of foreign visitors from countries such as Belarus has increased. Another group of holidaymakers who spend their summer vacation in Shabla are non-organzed groups who prefer camping. Shabla’s accommodation capacity is sufficient for 1200 visitors. The number of categorized villas, guest houses, family-run hotels and small hotels has increased. Shabla’s coastline stretches over 30km, which also attracts many tourists.
