2.8 M Leva for Tourist Infrastructure
Dnevnik Daily, 04.04.2005
The Government has approved funding for 31 projects for improving the infrastructure around cultural and historical monuments. The sites will be supported to a total amount of 2.8 million leva. The proposal was made by Minister of Culture and Tourism Nina Chilova. The average amount for each of the projects is almost 100 000 leva and the criteria for the size of the subsidy for each of them will be based on their potential for developing cultural tourism. Improved infrastructure will ease access to the sites and will make a better tourist product possible, Chilova believes. The medieval fortress of Perperikon, the Madara Horseman, the Melnik Terrestrial Pyramides and Rozhen Monastery are among sites to be funded, as well as an ancient Thracian town near the village of Vassil Levski, the ceramic complex in Pavlikeni, Aladja Monastery above the rsort of Zlatni Pyasutsi (Golden Sands), and others. see source
