Swiss music days in Bulgaria

The Sofia Echo, 08.02.2008

From February 18 to February 22 the annual Swiss Music Days in Bulgaria will be held under the patronage of the embassy of Switzerland to Bulgaria and with the support of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.

The festival, entitled Antique and Modern Music from Switzerland, will take place in the city gallery in Dobrich at 6pm on February 18, in the Bulgaria chamber hall in Sofia at 7pm on February 20 and in the Balabanova Kashta (Balabanova house) in the old town of Plovdiv at 6.30pm on February 21. The entrance will be free.

Well-known Swiss baroque violin and viola d’amore player Marianne Rônez will be special guest to the event. Mrs Rônez and pianist Maria Chervenlieva will play compositions by Swiss composers Gaspard Fritz, Othmar Schoeck, Arthur Furer and Alfred Schweizer, as well as German-born Paul Hindemith, who lived and worked in Switzerland. On February 22, Marianne Rônez, in addition to the three concerts, will give a one-day master class in historical violin practices at Sofia's State Academy of Music. See source here
