Anita Valentinova, news.bg, 17.09.2008

Around 500 000 visitors saw Bulgarian pavilion at the World Exhibition, held from the 14th of June until 14th of September in the Spanish city Saragosa. The prime time was on 21st of June, when the number of visitors reached 12 000. The rest of the period it was average 5000 per day and weekends-around 8000. The official visits of delegations and famous people were over 40 and one of them was the world chess champion Veselin Topalov. Delegates from 4 continents-Africa, Asia, Europe and South America were among VIP guests. They got familiar with the tourism opportunities, balneology and investments in Bulgaria and the rest of the visitors found Bulgaria as interesting, beautiful and attractive tourism destination. “I am at the pavilion of my favourite country Bulgaria and I found it overcrowded with people”, the Ambassador of Spain in Sofia Mr. Gonsales wrote in visitors’ book on the 9th of September. The exposition and the cultural program were the reasons for the great interest in Bulgarian pavilion at EXPO 2008. Natural and cultural landmarks, unique water resources of Bulgaria, traditions for centuries and the modern ways of their usage, as well as the opportunities for different kind of tourism with an accent on SPA tourism were shown on the area of 267 m2. The main theme of the exhibition was “Water and stable development”.
