The project Eastern Gate Philipopolis to be presented in Rome

The project Eastern Gate Philipopolis will be presented at a symposium with regards to the cultural heritage of the Roman Empire.
The aim of the project was to preserve the archaeological excavations of the Eastern gate of the Philipopolis fortress. In the end of August experts from the Centre for restoration of art values in Sofia have taken photos of the site. Therefore, it is planned that a catalogue of the archaeological landmarks of the site will be issued.
The Archaeological complex Eastern Gate of Philipopolis was discovered in the late 70ties of the 20th century and it is the most imposing and excellently constructed street in the Roman settlement.
Many remarkable finds of exceptional importance for the history of the ancient Philipopolis are discovered on this spot.
