Project evaluated at the amount of 2 000 000 € is being developed by Bobov Dol Municipality and it concerns the development of the region as a desired tourist destination, reported Focus Agency.

The mayor of Bobov Dol declared that the project will be financed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. This project is aimed at popularizing the natural and historical richness of the municipality through creating tourist attractions and the necessary infrastructure for it. Four visitors centers will be constructed, one in Bobov Dol and, respectively, one for every of the villages Golqma Fucha, Mala Fucha and Kurkina. The project includes the creation of five tourist routes and their adjoining tourist paths which lead to various historical and natural landmarks. Tourist paths vary in different length and directions. The Mayor of Bobov Dol, Mr.Ignatov pointed the fact that one of the most attractive routes is related to “the road of flowers” which encircles Kolosh Peak, situated in Konyavska Mountain, where unique plant species, including flowers, are spread. Tourists are particularly interested in the path, called “Palm of Krali Marko” which leads them to rock formation, which resembles a palm and has weird local history. Municipality Bobov Dol is referred to the life of Aron who possessed a castle in the region. “This fact makes essential the creation of tourist route, called “Following Aron steps”, added Mr. Ignatov. Routes are earmarked for health, Roman landmarks, as well as religious monuments, which you can come across often in Bobov Dol Municipality. Students, experts and local people who know the region of Bobov Dol and the legends for the different landmarks and events will take part in the fulfilment of the project.

Bobov Dol is a town in southwestern Bulgaria, part of Kyustendil Province. Bobov Dol lies near the geographic centre of the Balkan Peninsula and is known for its coal mines and thermal power plant. The third-largest town in the province (after Kyustendil and Dupnitsa), it is the administrative centre of Bobov Dol municipality. Located in a mountainous region, it is surrounded on three sides by the mountain Konyavska Planina, with the Gologlavski Rid ridge to the north and east and the volcano-resembling peak of Kolosh to the west. To the south is the Razmetanitsa plain which reaches the valley of the Struma River. The town's name (literally "bean valley") may allude to the bean-shaped valley where the original village, now the Hristo Botev neighbourhood, is located.
