Traditional Bulgarian ‘sedqnka’ in Rhodopes

Residents in the villages Borovo and Drqnovo, situated in the Rhodopes Mountain, presented traditional ‘ Sedqnka’, typical for the region of Rhodopes, a part of Foundation “Diva” project, having been financed by Phare Programme.
The motto of Lucky Municipality is “Construction of bridges between generations”, reported BTA, quoting the Manager of Foundation “Diva”.
The reproduction of “Sedqnka” gathered together local residents and raised their high spirits. Grandmothers and grandchildren, accompanied by a bagpiper, sang numerous famous Bulgarian songs, characteristic for Rhodope Mountainous region.
Women folklore group from Drqnovo and another one from Borovo took part in the event.
A well laden table with delicious Rhodopes dishes was a pure temptation for excellent food connoisseurs.
According to the organizers, the revival of traditions and old customs is a step toward regional tourism development.
Traditional Rhodopes’ ‘sedqnka’ is interesting for everyone who wants to experience something typically Bulgarian, to feel the mythic atmosphere of Rhodopes Mountain and the warm and friendly hospitality of local people.
