Sofia Morning News, 16.03.2005
More than 40 airlines have announced their intentions to launch charter flights to Bulgaria's coastal city of Varna in summertime. Among those are companies stationed in Germany, Poland, Russia, Austria, Britain, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands and the Scandinavian countries. It is this year for the first time that passengers from Madrid and Lisbon will be also able to land directly in Varna, on the northern coastline of Bulgaria, Bulgarian National Radio informed. Flights from Budapest and Vienna to Varna will be executed four times weekly as of end March and as of the beginning of May Bulgaria Air will re-launch regular flights to London. A regular charter flight to Amsterdam will also start operating at the Varna Airport as of June 6. The first packs of German tourists arrived last week to relax on the northern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Statistics for the first two months of this year showed that about 15,000 passengers passed through the Varna Airport, including 8,500 passengers on international flights. see source
