Bulgaria’s Velingrad will be officially announced as the Spa capital of the Balkan Peninsula.
Velingrad will be given the prestigious distinction of the Balkan Alliance of the hotel Associations during an official ceremony which will take place on the 7th of July.
More than 30% of the population of the famous SPA city is employed in the tourism sector. Velingrad is a town which boasts unique nature and well maintained tourism infrastructure.
The town has disposal of nearly 40 hotels which provide accommodation for 4000 tourists. According to official data, more than 500 000 tourists visited Velingrad in 2008. Every visitor finds extremely attractive the abundance of mineral springs, pure water, natural resources, interesting cultural and historic heritage which await them in Velingrad
A charter airport and the biggest casino in Europe are planned to be constructed in Velingrad. The major idea is to build them together since gamblers do not like travelling. In the long term Velingrad is aimed to be turned into all-year round destination. At the moment the SPA city is more popular as a weekend tourism destination.
BHRA also announced that Bulgaria’s Velingrad will also delight its guests with two brand new 5- star hotels and four 4-star hotels by the end of the year.
