Winter Resort Boasts Most Successful Season

The 2004/2005 winter season in the Bulgarian posh mountain resort Pamporovo proved to be the most successful one over the last 15 years. Georgi Georgiev from the "Pamporovo 21 century" hoteliers union explained there has been an increase of 30% in the number of British and Irish tourists that have visited Pamporovo during the winter season. An increased interest in Bulgaria as a winter tourism destination has been registered from Serbian, Russian, Greek and Turkish tourists. Nearly 70% of the Pamporovo tourists in the winter 2004/2005 season appeared to be foreigners, statistics showed. Hoteliers in Chepelare also say that the 2004/2005 winter season has been among the most successful ones. The main clients in Chepelare were Bulgarian tourists, though there have been also Russian, British, Serbian and Macedonian tourists. see source
