Yacht harbour to be built on the Danube

Anita Valentinova, source : horemag.bg, 26.06.2009

A yacht port will be constructed in the village Baikal. It will be the only one of its kind on the Danube within the territory of Bulgaria. Besides the harbour a new hotel will be also built. It is believed that the project will draw the interest of Romanian tourists to the village of Baikal. Bulgaria and Romania have already signed treaties for the development of eco and rural tourism. Therefore, joint eco routes along the Danube river can be established as well. The construction of park zones for tourists and other attractions in the region of the Roman and Byzantine city Ulpia Eskus are also included in the project. There are two islands just opposite the village of Baikal which offer excellent conditions for the development of hunting and fishing tourism. This makes the area even more attractive for tourists.
