Bansko tourist season to be extended

The chairman of the Bulgarian Tourism Chamber has raised his suggestion to have the Bansko tourist season extended with 10 days more. According to him, this means the revenue of 5-10 million BGN will be generated for Bansko winter resort. He has stated that the summer season needs to be extended further in order to develop the sports and medical tourism as the municipalities in Bansko region should unify their efforts to bring the product to a new level. In his words, the diversity of services in Bansko winter resort needs to be diversified. Unfortunately, Bansko ski resort, a premier Bulgaria’s winter holiday spot, has lost its sheer authenticity because of the construction works in the resort. Hence, some of the tourists cannot feel the authentic ambience which was used to Bansko skiing resort. According to official figures, the most frequent guests in Bansko are Russians, who choose it both for their skiing and summer holiday. It is important to emphasize that the interest towards Bansko has not been decreased. What needs to be clarified is that tourists expect more flexible price packages to be offered.
