Fiona Thorpe - Bulgaria, 18.02.2015 17:39

Dejan from Serbia - all runs in Borovets are open at the moment. We just left today, conditions have been superb this week

Dejan - Serbia, 11.02.2015 21:03

Why are Y3, Y1 and Markudjik ski runs Closed? (Feb.11 2015)

Sarah - United Kingdom, 25.02.2014 19:49

Arriving in borovets on sat 1st march, can anybody tell me what the ski conditions are like and is there any new snow? thankyou

Paddy Curran - Bulgaria, 20.02.2014 11:17

There are the two lower runs open in front of Rila and two lower runs on gondola side. The popangelov run is in very good condition. Not many people in resort so about usual numbers on runs. There is a free bus to the yastrebets chair lift as you cannot get to the runs via the gondola. On the bright side it has been sunny so nice conditions to ski with.

Christian Pitocco - Bulgaria, 12.02.2014 15:09

THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!!'m
There are 2 runs open on the entire resort!!!
I cant believe they have put that most of it is open!!
The runs are open if you fancy a hike but That's about it!!
It's the worst season they have had in years.... We have hired a car to go to bansko tomorrow but now we're worried as they are also saying that most of it is open!!!!!
Thank god for great mates banter and beer!!!!!

Jen - United Kingdom, 07.02.2014 12:37

Is this an accurate report of the amount of runs open? Many other sites says than more runs are closed than this. I've also seen that sites have fake reports to encourage tourists to come. Is anyone there now that can give me more of an idea of what's happening? We're due to arrive on Sunday and we're not going to cancel but would like to know what we're in for! Thank you!

Russell price - Bulgaria, 26.01.2014 16:00

Please explain logic behind keeping the gondola from working I believe it to be that your saving the snow that is obviously up there for the forthcoming downhill skiing this I find appaling and yet not surprising for borosport any reason to save having to do something I av been here 14 years now and I\'m frankly disgusted at the way borosport treats it\'s paying clientele lift passes that can\'t be fully used queues that are unacceptable and as for the do called contactless yet another thing borosport av failed to try before bringing it into force it\'s a nightmare but as usual you don\'t care you av your money paying customers can just lump it this will not only be my last visit to borovets but Bulgaria all together

Filip - Macedonia, 27.12.2013 20:36

What is with the snow....is it real or......whats happening in Borovets....

Filip - Macedonia, 27.12.2013 20:33

Do you have snow.....beacuse i am going ti visit Borovets in 12.01.2014 ii think....

Alex - UK - Bulgaria, 15.03.2013 07:53

Last day of our holiday, been here 8 days and only managed to ski for about half of that. Poor snow cover, with lots of bare patches and ice. Also been very windy the past few days so lifts all been closed. Not ideal at all, although it is forecast to dump 20cm tonight.

phil mckay - European Union, 03.01.2013 03:06

well looking at the runs that are open and also the fact that there is still snow on the roofs at basecamp and also snow still on the trees its not melting that fast ?? there will be ice because as usual for this time of year its freeze and thaw in bulgaria! but looks like more snow on the way but not big dumps of the stuff! little and often by the looks of it! as long as the temps stay low at night and not much more that 2 in the day the canons canm make up the difference :) im arriving saturday :) as long as yastrebetz is good ill be happy :) and it looks pretty good to me :) cant wait :)

Karen - United Kingdom, 02.01.2013 23:44

Are this amount of runs really open? On Bulgaria ski it is only showing 11 open. Which is correct? Are there likely to be any runs open on Monday or will it be even worse? Thanks

mark - United Kingdom, 31.12.2012 17:05

We're here at the moment and conditions are not good. It hasn't snowed since before christmas eve and all the main blue runs bar one and the greens apart from nursery are closed. Reds have been made black due to ice. Today was 9 degrees. Its all melting and no snow is due!

Ian Booth - United Kingdom, 22.12.2012 18:46

Agree with Andy Mck's comments, this is our 6th time to Borovets (had a 1 yr break to Bankso) and this is my fav resort. Great people, great pub/restaurants, excellent value and I just love it. We bought 3 sets of boots last year and stay at the Samakov hotel. My son who's a great skier love sit here too. We went outside half term and its great, even better value. We sooo looking forward to it again this year.

Andy McK - United Kingdom, 20.12.2012 02:18

Coming back again in Feb 2013. After having had great snow last year, hoping it will be as good again and so far it's looking like a good start to the season. Saw some people skiing on the Yastrabets runs a couple of days ago so fingers crossed for Feb. Our 5th time and hopefully not our last. May not be the classiest resort in the world but certainly picturesque when it's covered in snow and when you're on top of the mountain or skiing through the trees down to the resort. Just look at the food/drink/lift pass/activity prices and that will make you realise why so many people come back here year after year. One of our group skied in Colorado a couple of years ago but says he would prefer to come to Borovets for the whole package. Hopefully resort will be a bit quieter now we're not tied to UK half term but never found any probelms getting somewhere to eat and queues were OK considering it was so busy. Some people moan about Borovets but do a bit of research wrt where to eat/stay/buy lift passes etc., consider getting a taxi into Samokov to eat cheaply and you'll have a great time. We certainly did and won't hesitate to book again.

Rebecca - United Kingdom, 18.12.2012 13:15

Is the resort open? A number of different websites are saying a lot of different things...mostly that there isn't snow and it's not open

Alex - Bulgaria, 08.12.2012 08:39

You give a lot of faulty information. The lifts are not oppened as I can see from the webcams.

Kev - United Kingdom, 05.12.2012 11:32

Let it snow let it snow

Steve - United Kingdom, 26.03.2012 21:20

I'm thinking of coming out on 1st April - 3 daughters to have their first experience of skiing. Is it all just ice or will they be able to learn?

Andy - United Kingdom, 23.02.2012 01:32

Just got back and had a great week, snow was perfect for us, snowed a couple of times while we were out there so we were skiiing on powder for much of the week and majority of the lifts were open. God knows how the locals cope, the UK would grind to a standstill with 10% of this snow??? but they just clear it up and get on with their lives. Seems to be warming up now so may get a bit icy but can't have everything. As others say treat yourselves to a trip to Samakov (15 lev each way in a taxi). The Chicken House restaurant is fantastic even if it is geared towards us tourists but it is still over half the price of Borovets centre but is 10 times as luxurious, service is great, food is warm and tasty. If you're still looking somewhere to stay consider the Vila Park complex, great facilities (gym, sauna, pool etc all free for residents) and prices for food/drink are low (cheapest beer we found in Borovets) you may struggle to get some pans/toasters/kettles etc. but that didn't stop us having a great time. Looking forward to next year just hope the snow is as good next time. Slopes may not be as challenging as Europe for experienced skiers but for us part timers it was more than enough.

paul t - United Kingdom, 20.02.2012 23:50

going 26th feb, conditions look great.Have been there past 2 years, price is main reason. Hoping the top runs are all open as they were fab las year.

paul - United Kingdom, 28.01.2012 22:20

going back this year on the 25th feb will be are 6th year. snow looks great this year we normally go the 2nd week in jan but conditions havent been great the past 2 years an this an this year its back to excellent. cant wait to get there an enjoy the night life

Andy B - European Union, 25.01.2012 11:41

Other sites say all bar one lift are open. Lots of snow falling too. I go Saturday cannot wait

Martin - United Kingdom, 24.01.2012 11:21

Hi Guys and Girls we are going on Sat 28th for 9 days skiing. We have a couple of friends who live out in Samakov and they have told us that the skiing is brilliant. I you go to www.borovet-bg.com you can see live web cams of the resort. Lots of snow with a base depth of 2 metres and more snow on the way for 24th, 25th and 26th. I have been for the last 3 years and for the money it is a no brainer! If you want to go to Samakov for the night there are some fantastic resturants but for the life of me I cannot remember the names, sorry and much cheaper than in Borovets. Make sure you agree a price with the taxi before you go. Have a good un Martin (AKA Franz Clammer)

Andy - United Kingdom, 20.01.2012 00:50

Hey guys is anyone looking at this forum anymore. We're coming over in the Feb half term 2012 and was hoping to see some reports? Anyone know why Markujik runs aren't open?? Snow looks good at the top of the mountain?

pete - United Kingdom, 24.01.2011 21:06

went last week in jan last year n go 5th feb. ski conditions look better this year than last but were were still adequate. very good value for money.

Daniel - Israel - Israel, 16.01.2011 13:49

I will be in Borovets next month hope for good snow, I visit in the last 4 years in Borovets and it was prefect the snow, hotels, and costs

graham - United Kingdom, 09.01.2011 23:12

going 1st week in feb been for the last 3 years to boverets. only had 1 day where we havent skied and that was due to wind. food and drink is cheap . the resort is far from fancy but for £500 all in we have had a great time.

Pierre - Greece, 07.01.2011 18:53

Went at xmas with family. Not many runs open but enough for two beginners and had three days of brilliant sunshine. Will be going back when all runs are open.

Neil - United Kingdom, 04.01.2011 22:15

I'm confused I arrive on saturday and this site says the Markudjik ski centre is closed but the lifts that serve it are open is this just an error on the website or is the Markudjik ski centre still closed?

SOT - Greece, 20.12.2010 19:41

hello fellows does anyone have any idea for ski contitions in borovets for the week 12/20 -27?

paul hopwood - United Kingdom, 11.12.2010 01:22

all runs in borovets currently closed its planned opening day is the 19th december but may be opening a day early according to the bbc weather

Paul Sheffield - United Kingdom, 06.12.2010 16:27

been b4 in dec snow cover not good, only open outside Rila for first 5 days (with use of the canons, pretty busy) then opened gondola to top for last day

James Atkins - United Kingdom, 02.12.2010 17:07

Is this information to be believed? The webcam shows no snow what-so-ever, yet virtually all of the lifts and runs are claiming to be open - even though it is after 17:00 local time. Surely it must be dark by now?

Neil Mantovani - United Kingdom, 24.11.2010 13:57

We are also arriving on December the 26th and would also like to see some snow on camera please!!

phil ellerington - United Kingdom, 17.11.2010 11:18

can you please show an up to date webcam so we canwatch the snow report as it happens as we are arriving on 26 december thank you

Paul Jarrett - United Kingdom, 05.11.2010 18:00

Can you please advise when the ski season starts in Borovets. Also, is there a live webcam for the higher slopes.

Shane - United Kingdom, 12.02.2010 15:46

I was out in Borovets end of Jan, and yes the runs were poor, icy rocks showing, although we still had a great time dont go out there with any preconcieved ideas just take it for what it is and youll have a great laff. Gondola side of the resort was pretty much ok once youd cleared (walked) the 100m down the run Haramia to avoid the rocks at the top. get out early ish in the morning to avoid the really poor snow from about 2-3pm onwards when the runs were hammered and icy, ive got freinds out there at the moment who have said its snowing so lets hope they open up the top of the mountain for all you guys going away soon, although i have just noticed a video posted on the 2nd feb from Markudjika2 so im guessing its open now??

LUKE - United Kingdom, 11.02.2010 19:04

I'm only responding because someone made an obscene comment at me...its only banter...relax...Pete, you know you will have a tiny peek to see if i have responded...lol....I don't work at the resort,I don't think it's the best resort but as I'm taking a large group of 10+ its all I can afford. Go to B.K.K in Austria soon so I will be disappointed if that is like borovets!!!!

pete - United Kingdom, 11.02.2010 12:29

hi mary my last words on the matter TOM AND LUKE work there so easy to find that one out cheers and good riddings would bother a reply cos wont be on here to see it MORONS

mary - United Kingdom, 11.02.2010 09:40

hey guys stop it the place we no is poor the runs we no are poor and the mis info still goes on let it go i was wiped out by a expert who lost it totaly on ice he to blamed the condition of all runs in borrovets, go to bansko its great i went last year and will do so next season guys calm yourself hey its only a holiday resort

LUKE - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 22:42

Your the idiot who started the verbals - fool. So you wouldn't go to Borovets because a website for hotels in Borovets is giving you bum information!!!Have you ever meet a slaesperson before!!! You must be out of your tiny little mind! Nice touch with the - I'd smash you up if you were here approach" -that hole just keeps getting deeper!

pete - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 22:00

PRICKS you still havent got the point you pair of thick shits wasnt complaining about the resort it was about MISINFORMATION ABOUR THE RESORT By the way would really like to meet you two in person and see how good you are with your GOBS !!!!! Hard Men !!! NOT

LUKE - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 20:48

Mary - Sorry about the injury.

LUKE - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 20:39

Coz Pete I hate hearing pricks like you whinge when I'm on holiday. Your the sort of person who goes on holiday to Spain and complaints that it is too hot....cock

Tom - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 19:42

Mary - OUCH!!!! but you could have done that anywhere so can't blame the resort for that! I broke my leg in Avoriaz but I still would go back as its a quality resourt.

pete - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 12:52

nade and luke you just dont get the piont do you its not about them not having much snow ITS about the false info they give you Just look at the last comment from Mary And i tink you two work there or you just go around with your eyes shut

mary - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 12:26

two broken ribs and detached alta deltoid aquired on the run at the top on the rocks
need i say anymore

nade - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 01:30

Luke, couldn't have put it better myself, perhaps Pete should try Whistler or even Vancouver,I beleive the Canadians are taking snow in by the lorry load in prep for the Olympics and they may have the slopes to match his ability.

PETE - United Kingdom, 10.02.2010 00:21

Luke why dont you read all the comments before you comment you dick

Luke - United Kingdom, 09.02.2010 23:41

Been to Borovets twice. The snow has been patchy both times (at xmas) but I have managed to ski in some form everyday. Only the Rila slope was open one day and I spent the day learning to ski backwards and perform jumps and tricks. I will be going again next year...why because I'm taking a group of 10-12 people. We make our own fun and wouldn't be able to afford Austria. Like any holiday, you get out of it what you put into it. If you want guaranteed snow and you have a small family, pay up and go to Tignes you skinflints....don't pay Primark prices and expect Gucci labels!!!???

pete - United Kingdom, 09.02.2010 22:43

Nade sorry but theres skiing and SKIING and even being an advanced skier ice isnt good
one young girl in our group {11] got injured It was our 6th time there and 4 of them was over 18 years ago and it was value for money then but in our gruop out of six snow plogh to carving isnt an even group our instructor
wasnt an instructor HE WAS A GUIDE i went skiing on my own at the end of the week and i saw them at the end and they was doing the same thing on the sat/ as they were on the prevoius monday I carve when skiing and he was trying to teach me paralle?? which i had done over 25 years ago IN BOROVETS !!! will never go back there again

nade - United Kingdom, 09.02.2010 15:46

pete, we have managed to book and are indeed going back on 20th feb. We skied every day and there are enough runs open to keep us occupied. I suppose it would be no good if we were all the same. We love the place and will keep going back.

pete - United Kingdom, 09.02.2010 13:39

Nade why would you go back to borovets did you spend all your time in the bar we had two not bad days of skiing ?

alan - United Kingdom, 08.02.2010 17:13

got back sunday what a load of rubbish no snow just ice some people are posting mis information on this web site its rubbish 400cm of snow not even 4mm of snow

Nade - United Kingdom, 08.02.2010 00:42

arrived back from borovets last night and desparately searching the web tonight to try and book to go back on 20th Feb 2010 for the fourth time. What more can i say!!!

Pete - United Kingdom, 07.02.2010 21:40

Yes me again your webcams ???? we had low mist on sat 6th feb and you webcam showed it clear why dont you be honest with people you build there hopes up then all that does is spoil there holiday and the amount of snow and depths you give are well out if runs have ice on them and they are rocky why not tell people then maybe they wouldnt be as many injuries

Pete - United Kingdom, 07.02.2010 21:39

Sorry Des but we have just left borovets and YES it has snowed but the runs are iceed covered with light snow on top there are a lot of bare patches and rocks and i know cos i came to grief with the dame things,And by the way while we was over there someone made comment that there had been 400cm of snow CRAP there was about 15 to 20.
We have been to borovets six times before but never again the instructor was crap the group i was in had three different levels in it from myself with PLOUGIND to basic SNOWPLOUGH of which the girl was injured on a Red run on the last day This resort is no longer value for money Sorry if you dont like what i am saying but it is all true

Des - United Kingdom, 07.02.2010 18:12

Sally, No i dont work there! i just ski there. Ive been to tignes and been promised ski in ski out Ha! it was a joke, but thats weather for you,, And i dont care if your an instructor at Whistler even,, by the way lol!!! and you've got a thing about girly bars havn't you? FYI there are only 3 girly clubs that you may notice and only two are in the high street and they are not in your face at all! top to bottom Ha !! My friends are there right now and they have loads of snow,, we wont be meeting you there then lol!! Chou,,

sally - United Kingdom, 02.02.2010 15:19

i take it des you work in borrovets , nice try but its crap by the way i am a instructor in the uk !!!!!!

Des - United Kingdom, 02.02.2010 13:04

Hi Tom, at last someone has spoken out in reply to these gits that run Borovets down,, there are strip clubs in Austrian resorts! but so what the girls are not on the streets. Ive been skiing there for 5 years with my family,(4 kids) we have all skiied France more than once,,and Scotland.. but heh perhaps you all should take your own snow lol! You want it cheap but you want the alps!! then go there. I have had some fantastic sking there and in Bansko (more strip clubs) i was there mid Jan and had 5 good days skiing, my friends have just gone today, loads of snow and plenty of piste skiing, im out with the family half term , last half term we all had a great time on and off piste, I have to say that for an up and coming ex communist dictated country that they are working very hard to make it a place for everyone, the food is all good anyone that says its crap has only eaten hotel food!! (Rila or Samakov) the booze is cheap but good beer! No one can garentee the weather,, complain to your tour operator or the resort owners Boro Sport,, then tell us all what they say!!! Sally sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but ive had it in Tignes, with poor snow at the bottom and very poor accomadation and rip off prices,, FYI girly bars are not from top to bottom so dont belive that! i know becasue ive been in them OK! Happy Daze lol!!!

sally - United Kingdom, 02.02.2010 11:52

tom you must be blind all our party left early last week 4 runs open icy runs fed by snow cannon no new snow the info on runs open on this site are incorrect the girl bars are all the way from top to bottom .

Tom - United Kingdom, 02.02.2010 11:35

Can I just say that I have been reading all these comments and I think people are pretty blind. If you check out all the webcams that are available you can clearly see that there is a lot of snow. Most runs are open and there is more snow forcast.

Yes Borovets has strip clubs if you go looking for them. They are mostly in the bottom end of town so if you dont want kids to see them then stay in the main town.

I've been to Borovets before as well as many other resorts in the alps and in the states and as far as I am concerned it is a good resort.

Its not as good as the alps or the states but what do you expect from somewhere that is a 3rd of the price.

If you are open minded and not a pompus git then Borovets is a laugh. It was that good last year that we are going again at the end of Feb and can't wait.

Stop having a go at Borovets. If you don't like it then don't go again. Simple. Stop putting negative comments on discussion boards like this because most people like the place!

steve - United Kingdom, 01.02.2010 16:19

do not go its all closed apart from 4 runs and they are ice and deadly very poor conditions and snow forcast and runs info are false cancell and go somewere else its a con the resort is poor i got back sunday after a week the resort is a lap dancing sex indusrty not for families or skiers lookig for a great holiday shame on the people who run borrovets and all tour opperators

bulgaria-hotels.com answer - Bulgaria, 27.01.2010 15:20

Hi all,
check our latest Borovets video report and photo reports. Indeed our webcams ar Live, but they may show certain parts of the resort, that's why we constantly update the information and supply video and photo reports. Our local rep is going to update us which lifts are opened and which are closed. The truth is the most important thing, we do intend to provide you with misleading information, so updates are coming

Des - United Kingdom, 26.01.2010 17:48

for snow reports try www.j2ski.com, and www.borovets-pms.com on there web cam its live.

pete - United Kingdom, 26.01.2010 03:31

hi why do all the webcams look the same morning and afternoon shows alot of snow on slope yet no people on them you say that there are more runs open than what the ski club are saying who is right and who is wrong "what ahve the shi club got to lose by not telling the truth they say that there are 8 out of 12 open"

Nicky- United Kingdom - United Kingdom, 25.01.2010 22:04

Worst holiday we have ever had. Food is horrible, waste of time having a lift pass as most lifts were shut all though on line says all open except for Markudjik when in fact on arrival only four were open. Wolud not recommend due to this and even if there was enough snow i would not go back again!!!

steve - United Kingdom, 21.01.2010 09:37

can anyone tell us whats the snow conditions like now generally across the ski area and why is the Markudjik area closed, flying out sunday for a week

pete - United Kingdom, 20.01.2010 22:04

hi we are coming out 31st jan can anyone give us some info on what is running and what isnt please There seems to be alot of opinions
thanks pete

bulgaria-hotels.com - Bulgaria, 20.01.2010 18:48

hi,
i'd like just to clarify - the ski runs information is updated live, while the lifts informations shows only if some lift is closed for maintenance and not if it's not working today. Generally if any ski run is open, the servicing lift is also open and vice versa.
So use the ski runs status to check where you can ski - when it is said that the Markudjik ski runs are closed it should be obvious that the lift is also closed:)

Ed Smith - Bulgaria, 18.01.2010 20:56

Status regarding the Lifts is WRONG. 18/01/10
The Markudjik Lifts are Not Open, as the runs are Not. The Rotata lift is Not Open. Misleading information

steve - United Kingdom, 11.01.2010 14:34

got back saturday worst ski holiday ever!!!boro sport ski hire rubbish slope management rubbish rila hotel 4 star laughable. if you've got ski hire scrap it and buy your own there's some good deals to be had and at least if the snow does come you'll enjoy your skiing when there was snow the skiing was good, as long as they havn't groomed the slopes to death over night. food and drink move away from the lower slope and you won't get ripped off....so hope you all get snow

Russ - European Union, 09.01.2010 13:59

Yes same concern: why is the Markudjik area closed? Never been to Bulgaria before so a bit worried that the snow might be doubtful!

Ian - United Kingdom, 09.01.2010 12:19

We already moved the vacation from December.

J.B - United Kingdom, 06.01.2010 15:10

bulgaria-hotels.com answer - Bulgaria, 05.01.2010 01:02

We due to travel on the 19th Dec and are a bit concerned that there is no snow, can you update us on that please
Cheers

Caroline - United Kingdom, 06.12.2009 21:08

Cool, will this page be updated to say when any of the runs are open and if the snow cannons are working!? Am traveling out on the 19th of Dec - fingers crossed for some snow ehh!?

Ivan - Bulgaria, 06.12.2009 14:45

We are terribly for the confusion but the system crashed and the information could not be updated. There is now snow actually right now.The season will start on 19th of December 2009. :)

Caroline - United Kingdom, 05.12.2009 21:51

Looking on here I am pressuming that the majority of the runs are 'open' as that is what they say. Are they actually open and are tourists out there skiing now!??
CONFUSED.com!!! lol
