Bulgaria "Draw for Costconscious Trippers"

Sofia News Agency, 18.01.2006

Affordability and family resorts on the Black Sea make Bulgaria grow in popularity, the Daily Mirror wrote in its tourism section about spending the holidays wisely. The article points out that stunning scenery and weak currency are making the Balkans a major draw for costconscious trippers. "A pint of beer can cost up to 1.54 pounds more if you holiday in the Canaries rather than Bulgaria. A cup of coffee in Turkey or the Algarve costs just 60p, but in Italy you'll have to stump up 1.85 pounds - that's 1.25 pounds more for each cup you drink." Reaching out to those travellers who don't want their holiday expenses to run out of control, the Daily Mirror says that a family of four spending a week in Bulgaria can expect to shell out around 336 pounds, based on seven pints of beer, 10 cans of Coke, suntan lotion, 28 three-course meals, five bottles of wine, 14 ice creams, 10 cups of coffee and car hire. Estimates have shown that if the same family flew to Greece that total would be a hefty 641 pounds. see source
