Bulgaria may become SPA and balneo destination

In five or ten years Bulgaria may become all year-round destination for SPA and balneo tourism, commented the chief secretary of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism, Siyka Katsarova, at Pari daily's conference ‘’Development of mountain tourism’’.
Currently nearly 70% of the consumers of SPA services are Bulgarians. However, Bulgaria may attract tourists from many European states if it uses properly the capacity of its mineral springs and mud. Such services add value to the establishments that provide them and grant hotels with better competitive qualities, Katsarova said. Moreover, this matter is of great important against the backdrop of the economic downturn which also affects tourism.
Finally, following Japan and Italy, Bulgaria is the country with most mineral springs all over the globe. The Pirin mountain region is one of the main centres of more than 800 mineral springs existing in Bulgaria.
