Bulgaria's Plovdiv will host the European Chess Club Cup in October 2010

Today, 26th pf April 2010 at 11.00 am in the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club in Sofia, the President of the European Chess Union, Mr. Boris Kutin and the President of the Bulgarian Chess Federation, Dr. Stefan Sergiev signed the contract for implementation of the tournament for The European Chess Club Cup in Bulgaria.
The prestigious event will be held from 16 to 24 of October 2010 in the halls of hotel "Novotel Plovdiv". It is expected to take part more than 50 men’s teams and more than 20 women’s teams. Over 200 elite grandmasters from all over the world will compete in Plovdiv.
The tournament prize fund is € 50,000. For the winners on the single chessboards are provided additional prizes. The candidature of the city of Plovdiv won the right to host the tournament for the European Club Cup Chess during the Congress of the European Chess Union in Dresden in November 2008 in strong competition with Thessaloniki, Greece and Antalya, Turkey. The President of the European Chess Union Boris Kutin said that the Bulgarian Chess Federation is among the most active European federations and he is calm, that the conduct of the tournament is in good hands.
