Sofia News Agency, 12.05.2006
Bulgaria will turn its major ports into active tourism, entertainment and business centres.
That has been stated in a National program for ports development presented by the Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev. The program is to be discussed by the government on its next session.
Besides the major ports the program also aims to assist the smaller ones. It has been discussed with mayors and regional representatives.
Mutafchiev explained that the program foresees the development of the ports to become to public-private partnerships, explaining that under the Bulgarian law the only option for such partnership is the concession. Therefore Minister Mutafchiev said that the Concession law might be amended.
