Sofia News Agency, 15.04.2006
Heavy construction works at Bulgaria's seaside are among the most serious problems the country's tourism sector faces. Many foreign tourists are no longer willing to come to Bulgaria for their holidays because of the heavy construction, Bulgaria's State Tourism Agency head Mario Al-Jebouri said after a meeting with representatives of the tourism business. Bulgaria's State Tourism Agency head expressed hopes that the new law limiting construction at the Black Sea coasts would be soon adopted. The tourism representatives that gathered in the Black Sea town Nessebar agreed that Bulgaria should have a plan for long-term tourism development. They discussed problems with visa regimes, marketing and promotion of Bulgaria as a tourism destination. Bulgaria's State Tourism Agency is preparing a development strategy and has already suggested to the Foreign Ministry that tourists coming to Bulgaria for the holiday use their IDs instead of foreign passports, it appeared.
