Delayed Opening of Black Sea Resorts...

Discover-Bulgaria.com, 25.05.2004

The excitement at the Bulgarian Black sea Resorts continues all year round. In the summer, the sea is in full swing of tourist and in winter – the waterside shakes of buildings and construction sites. All of the resorts do their best to open the season as early as possible and to prolong it until late autumn. It seems that in their desire to enlarge the hotels’ capacity and offer good vacation conditions the national resorts (Golden Sands and Sunny Beach) will fail and even suffer losses this summer. Although May 1 was the deadline to cease building, freeze the unfinished constructions and make them safe, work still goes on and the lovely otherwise seaside looks like a dumping ground. According to latest information, this madness will end on June 1 and the guests can enjoy what they have paid for. Despite the mass scale building a lot is done for the gardening and creation of green areas so we will keep the balance. The fact that tourist products and base in Bulgaria develop faster than the infrastructure restrain the promotion of traditional and alternative tourist places, activities and services. For this reason, Bulgarian rural tourism still suffers but probably this year it will leave behind the traditional and well-known Black Sea resorts. According to a recent survey, foreigners do not know enough about the situation in rural tourism. They think that they will have difficulties with transport and communication with the local people, they consider the food and drinks standards as poor, and estimate the places as missing good accommodation and entertainment. Probably reasonable apprehensions are connected with corruption and infrastructure. In fact, this has nothing to do with Bulgarian reality. Bulgarian nature in urban regions is unpolluted and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed life. Bulgarian culture is one of its kind and the villages have specific architecture style and particular cuisine. Bulgaria is not an overpopulated destination and many regions have great potential for development of natural and cultural heritage as well as existing family hotels and small hotel-restaurant complexes. If you want a tidy vacation at the seaside to bathe in the sun, to swim, and to enjoy fish specialties and nightlife – head to the Black sea coast. No matter which resort you choose – Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Albena, St. St. Constantine & Elena, Nessebar or Dyuni - you would be satisfied. If you want to relax and discover the country you have chosen for your vacation, then you have to skip the big cities and dive in the province – you will be charmed with the people, the cuisine, the abundance of natural, historical and cultural sites. see source
