Golf tournament-winners

Anita Valentinova, source : vesti.bg, 14.09.2009

The Russian golf player Ana Verchenova and the British Tommy King are the winners of the Fifth Mtel Open Golf tournament which finished on the 13th of September. 140 golf fans from 25 countries took part in the course of the amateur tournament. The contestants were grouped into two divisions-the championship, the advanced one, with a handicap up to 10/12, and Plate division for amateurs with higher handicaps between 10 and 19/36.

For the first time the Open Championship was held on two traces, namely the courses of the golf clubs Black Sea Rama and the Lighthouse, as the two divisions changed their place every day. The gust of wind near the Balchik Rocks provoked even better game of the players in the challenging tournament. A Russian group of 11 boys and girls was distinguished for the good results and stabile game. In the end it has become clear that the rivalry is between three of the most frequent participants in the Bulgarian tournament-the British Tommy King, David Gin, Daniel Jefriss and the Russian Morozov. At the last 18th hole Tommy King succeeded in prevailing over Morozov and won the first prize. Ana Verchenova was the female winner.
