Kleptuza Lake in Velingrad Spa resort to become a tourist attraction

Anita Valentinova, source: actualno.com, 13.02.2009

Since the unique of its kind Kleptuza Lake in Velingrad became a municipality property, Municipality Velingrad plans to turn it into a tourist attraction. Kleptuza Lake deserves special attention, because it is one of the symbols of beautiful Velingrad town. The project “Regional development”, which has been already launched, foresees the entertaining water facilities in the park to be renovated. The construction of a children playground in the park around the lake is also included in the plan. Moreover, it is expected that it would rapidly become a favourite place for short breaks not only for the children, but also for adults. Some amendments will be done in the park as well. New interesting and rare vegetable species will be planted in order to make the park as unique as the lake does. Kleptuza Lake is one of the biggest karsts springs in Bulgaria, as 1200 liters of cold water gush out from it per second. The water forms a stunning lake around which there are beautiful green pine forests turned into a natural park which is visited especially in summer by Velingrad residents and its numerous guests.
