Lyaskovski Monastery-a place where I happened to be on my way towards home, but obviously there is nothing accidentally.

Petropavlovski Monastery, known as Lyaskovski is one of the 14 monasteries in the surroundings of Veliko Tarnovo, which were built during the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (12th -14th century). The monastery, named on? the saint brothers Peter and Pavel, is one of the best preserved monasteries, dated back to that time and surely it is a consequence of its inaccessibility. The monastery and particularly its 31 meters church tower are outlined visibly against the horizon, reminding of secret medieval castle. When you ascend to the monastery, its terrace reveals gorgeous scenery. The legend tells that the monastery is established by the brothers Peter and Asen during the time of the Second Bulgarian Country. A fortress existed on the hill with the imposing rock in the past and it protected the proprietorship of the kings. The rebellion for Bulgarian Freedom from Byzantine occupancy was prepared in the fortress in 1185. The monastery was built to express kings’ gratitude to the successful rebellion. The monastery was repeatedly being set on fire and then restored. The monastery was well known out of the frames of Ottoman Empire in 1662. The monastery was a place for the organized revolutionary revolts during the time of Ottoman occupancy. The big earthquake in 1913 and the burst fire destroyed the church of the monastery and all historical structures. The new buildings of the new seminary remained in good condition. Nowadays they are preserved in their authentic look to a great extent. Unfortunately, precious creations of art are ruined. The restoration of the monastery lasted for long. The monastery’s church tower is raised to 31 meters above the ground and the clock below it is gifted by Maria Genova.

In my opinion, Lqskovski Monastery is a place which worths visiting, especially if you want to get familiar with Bulgarian history, the religious spirit and to purify your soul to achieve Divine Bliss.
