30% more Russian tourists in Bulgaria this year

Russian tourists who will visit Bulgaria this year are 30% more than the tourists last year. Their number is expected to reach 600 000. The 300th visa for Russian tourists has been recently issued in Moscow. The number of issued visas this year is 14%.
According to the ambassador, Bulgaria should actively promote its opportunities for SPA and balneology tourism. It should show that it’s an attractive balneology travel destination in Europe. The Russian market is not aware of the potential travel opportunities.
Botev has confirmed that he will make sure that the highlights will remains new balneology and SPA centers in Bulgaria which might attract the interest of Russian investors. Another important factor for Bulgarian tourism is the so called pilgrimage tourism. It is planned that a new project “Following the steps of Christianity in Bulgaria” will be soon fulfilled. There is an uncovered potential in the tourism sphere and Bulgaria should be promoted as an all year round tourism destination which is chosen by Russian tourists due to the various types of traditional and specialized tourism.
