Bunardzhika hill (Bunardzhika tepe) - the liberators hill of Plovdiv

The aim was to preserve the hill, consisting of syenitic rocks and being in itself a unique geomorphologic formation in terms of its location and its natural scientific and aesthetic value. On the top of the hill is the Alyosha memorial.

In the course of time, the hill has been directly or indirectly influenced by man and as a result the original flora was exterminated and a lot of species disappeared. Only in the high rocky parts can you still find some specimens of the original common species: red juniper, coleus Celtis australis, pistacia, alder-like Rhamnus fnangula, jujube, Genista rumelica.

As for the animal species, you can see the green and the brown scabby toads, the green lizard, the wall, the night and the short-legged lizards. There are the following mammal representatives: weasel, black polecat, and molehill. As for birds, dominating species are the turtle-dove, the scops-owl, the titmouse, the long-eared owl, and the goldfinch.
