Bulgarian Wine tourism popular among Russian tourists
Balkan Travellers, 17.02.2009
Tourist packages to Bulgaria which include visits to wineries are growing in popularity among Russian visitors to the country, representatives of Bulgaria’s Tourism Agency announced. Such packages have started to be offered only in the last few years. For now, Russian tourists prefer wine tours as part of a broader vacation package or excursion, rather then trips entirely dedicated to touring wineries, Katya Zhekova from Bulgaria’s Agency for Tourism told the Russian online publication Tourinfo. Bulgaria is a good wine tourism destination, because of the wide spread of wine-growing and its consistency throughout the year. “Vines are grown in almost every region of the country,” Zhekova said, adding that such tours can take place year round, because “the wineries are working all the time.”
