Serbian media praises Bulgaria’s ski resorts

Anita Valentinova, source: profit.bg, 08.11.2010

Do you wonder why Bulgaria is the superb holiday destination when it comes to skiing? The reason is that this small part of Europe boasts ski centres, wonderful ski tracks, lifts, trails and excellent conditions for fab ski adventures! Serbian print media has recently written that Bulgaria’s Bansko resort is one of the examples.

Bansko, which used to be a small, picturesque town with excellent ski tracks and low-cost hotels, has been included on the lists of European and worldwide renowned winter resorts with ski tracks. Yes, this progress has been registered for 10 years. Currently, Bansko avails of over 120 tourists places of different categories, 65km ski area as the longest ski track is 16km and begins at the altitude of 2919m. Modern lifts make the ski and snowboard experience convenient for novices and advanced enthusiasts alike.

Apart from having excellent ski conditions, Bansko offers for tourists a golf playground, tennis courts, many casinos, mountainous paths, horse-riding bases, fitness and SPA centres, as well as traditional mehanas /Bulgarian restaurant where you can taste local dishes/ and gourmet delicacies. Serbian newspapers pointed out that it takes up to 3 hours to cross the Serbian border and reach Bulgarian ski paradise. It’s interesting to know what one can do in Bansko, except enjoying skiing. If you choose a ritzy hotel, then all pleasures would await you- swimming pools, whirlpool bath, massages, casinos and discos.

Serbian tour operators usually explain to tourists that they can enjoy natural trails, crystal clear mountainous air and hiking. Off the beaten track adventures, golf amateur tournaments and horseriding are other exciting options. People who usually are interested in cultural tourism should visit the churches St.Virgin Mary and the beautiful St.Trinity. Also, Bansko draws the attention of visitors with the house-museum of Neophyte Rilski and house-museum of the famous Bulgarian writer Nikola Vaptsarov.
