Gloria Palace Hotel

I spent only one night in this hotel but found it to be very good. The location is excellent, and although it is an old building it has been refurbished to a very good standard. The staff I came across were charming and helpful, including waking me early and helping me out to the taxi they had arranged for me.
My room was large, comfortable and well equipped.

Gloria Palace Hotel

had heard that it is hard to get smoke free rooms in Sofia. But when I stepped out of the lift to go to my room I was pleased to see a notice that said it was a smoke-free corridor and there was no smell of cigarettes in the corridor or my room.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English. The breakfast were good, real orange juice and apricot juice, croissants, three varieties of cereal, yoghurts, a small selection of cooked breakfast items, cheese and cold meats. The only complaint was that the sliced bread was a bit dried out.
The room was a good size and the air conditioning unit very quiet. The water had to be run for some time before it was hot, but it did get there, you just needed patience and not think about how much water you were wasting.
The hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Sofia.
