The construction of the centre near Chepelare began

The construction of sport tourist centre in Chepelare has already begun. “Chepelare resort” is the investor. The project will be proceeding in three stages for 5 years. The total amount of the investment is expected to be over 50 million €, as over 15 million will be invested only in the equipment. The first stage will have been finished by the end of 2008 and includes reconstruction of the existing lift, construction of new lift equipment with the length of 2700m., the construction of a system for artificial snow for a track, long 3, 5 km. A special system for tourists’ admission will be used for the first time in Bulgaria. It is developed by the Austrian company Access. The lift line is constructed by the French company “Pomagalski”.

The planned investment by the end of this year is to the amount of 8 million €, 1 million only is for the artificial snow. The second stage will be proceeding in the period 2009-2011. It includes the construction of sport core near the city of Chepelare and second lift, long over 3km., connecting the sport equipment with the hill “Mechi Chal”. The construction of sport and amusement equipment with summer use in the sport centre, isolated on the hill “Mechi Chal”, next to “Chaq”, and the equipment around the track for biathlon will be made during the third stage. A project for constructing a small and modern holiday village next to the city is also planned.
