The Culinary Festival “Sharena Trapeza” (“Colourful Table”) finished

The first unique of its kind Culinary Festival for Bulgarian National Cuisine with international participation “Sharena Trapeza” 2008 (translated into English “Colourful Table”) was held on the 6th and 7th of September in the village Banq, Panagyuirishte Municipality. Well-experienced cooks, cooks amateurs, representatives of Spain, England, Syria and local people took part in the festival. Guests and participants from the area constructed culinary counters at the square, on which they represented their incredibly delicious and beautiful Bulgarian dishes. The Program of the Culinary Festival “Sharena Trapeza”-village Banq, Municipality Panagyuirishte 2008, included: 1. A Competition for the most delicious and beautiful arranged dish, given by the festival’s guests. 2. A Competition for the recipe “Grandma’s recipes”-Recipes, sent on the web-site of the festival took part, as well as recipes, given during the festival. 3. A Competition for children’s picture on the theme “Grandma’s Recipes” The owner of the Bulgarian TV channel “Tourism”, impressed with the rich local culinary traditions, awarded each of the villages-participants with individual documentary movie. Important part of the program of the festival were professional cooks and cooks amateurs. Official guest was Hose Luis Ruis Komino from Spain. A lover of cooking from Syria represented the dishes-Hotchpotch, Tarator (cold yogurt and chopped cucumber soup) and the traditional dishes from Syria-Fette, Turned dish with rice and chicken. All participants in the first culinary festival with international participation were given honorary diploma. The club “Tradition” in the village of Banq also took part in the festival. Its members arranged a unique exhibition of authentic weapons-swords, daggers, guns, having been belongings to many prominent Bulgarians. The Festival was visited by many representatives of specialized culinary media and national media. The first of its kind culinary festival “Sharena Trapeza” aimed to unite people, excited about Bulgarian culture, Bulgarian traditions and Bulgarian Culinary. Having gathered? at one place people from different nationalities, professional cooks, admirers and hosts, folklore groups, participants from Bulgaria and the whole world to honour and elaborate the traditions, left as invaluable heritage by our predecessors, the festival will be unforgettable memory for all participants and guests, who eagerly will expect the forthcoming ideas of the organizers in the next year. First having been made the beginning, the festival “Sharena Trapeza” will be held every year. The organizers will work in collaboration with followers from the whole country for the elaboration of Bulgarian culinary art and the preservation of Bulgarian culinary heritage in the foreseeable future so as to gather more people, interested in Bulgarian culinary traditions.
