The seven Rila Mountain lakes

The seven Rila Mountain lakes are one of the most alluring places in Bulgaria. The air, the crystal waters, the power of the mountain hug make you calmed and bewitched. You should leave your worries far away; let them wash away in the azure surface of this turquoise lake charm. Location: The seven Rila Mountain Lakes are one of the most impressive sceneries in Bulgaria. They are situated in the highest mountain on the Balkan Peninsula-Rila, stepped one above the other in the North West side of the mountain. The lakes originate from ice blocks; they are included in the “100 Bulgarian tourist objects” and that is way they are one of the most visited landmarks in Bulgaria. They are connected with numerous small streamlets, which form waterfalls in some places. The seven lakes are: the Tear (“Salzata”), the Eye (“Okoto”), the Kidney (“Bubreka”), the Twin (“Bliznaka”), the Three leafs (“Trilistnika), Ribnoto and Dolnoto. LAKES The first lake is “The tear”. Its depth is 4,5m. Its shape is like a tear and because of this its name is “Salzata”. River Djerman beginning starts from this lake. The second lake is “the Eye”. Its depth is 37,5m. The eye is the deepest circus lake in Bulgaria. It has rounded shape. The third one is the “Kidney” (“Bubreka”). Its depth is 28m. Its shape is like a kidney. The fourth is “Bliznaka” (“Twin”). Its depth is 27,5m. It consists of two parts, connected with narrow strip of water. The fifth is “Trilistnika”. Its depth is 6,5m. It has this name, because it has got irregular shape like three leafs. The sixth lake is “Ribno ezero” (“Fish lake”). Its depth is only 2,5m. It is the shallowest in the group of lakes. The chalet “The seven lakes” is situated next to it. The seventh is “Dolno ezero” (“Down lake”). Its depth is 11m. This lake has the lowest altitude. ADVENTURE There are several routes to the seven Rila lakes.
