The official opening of the first thematic routes in Belasitsa Nature Park, called “Life of the chestnut” and “Flowers and butterflies of Belasitsa”, was held on the 17th of November in villages Kolarovo and Qqvornitsa, Petrich Municipality.
Both tourist routes are a part of a project”Preservation of the global significant biodiversity of Belasitsa Mointain by involving the local communities in the development of eco tourism”.
The project is carried out by Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, branch Belasitsa, in collaboration with Municipality Petrich, and Mountain Tourism Forum.
The program of the official opening on the 17th November included: opening of the path “Butterflies and flowers of Belasitsa” at the square in the village Qvornitsa, folklore program of the community center in the village Qvornitsa, a passing through the path “Butterflies and flowers of Belasitsa” with local guides, opening the path “Life of the chestnut” in Kolarovo village, official welcome speech and also passing through the path with local guides.
Belasitsa is an impressive mountain which offers great opportunities for development of alternative forms of tourism and therefore it can turn into a model for stable economy, based on nature’s preservation and international co-operation.
Newly created interpretative routes will make popular the natural resources of the mountain and will help to build positive and responsible attitude to nature.
