There are many lovely destinations in Bulgaria that you should either have heard of or you have visited before. You might have had a great party at Cacao Beach in Sunny Beach resort or your family might have spent an unforgettable holiday in Bansko, but I doubt that you have visited Troyan.

Today I invite you to look further than the top holiday destinations in Bulgaria, unleash your explorer’s spirit and find the beauty of the picturesque Troyan town. Troyan is located in the northern part of Bulgaria, Lovetch district. It lies on the banks of Beli Ossum River, at the foot of the Stara Planina mountain.

Troyan is full of landmarks and it really offers exciting experience for those who like sightseeing and appreciate the value of cultural tourism. Troyan is famous for its nature parks in the area, museums, churches and cultural monuments. Here there are 30 waterfalls and their height is over 20m. All of them are within the area of the nature reserve Severen Djendem. The next nature park in the area that worth visiting this spring is Kozyata stena. It is a small reserve that is the place where we keep the mountainous edelweiss, venerable oak and beech forests.

Troyan Monastery is one of the most magnetic places in the region and it is one of the most visited monasteries in Bulgaria. It is situated 10 km southeast of Troyan. The forests and the river Cherni Ossum makes the place truly ethereal and full of mystery.

If you like winter sports, you will be pleasantly surprised with your excursion in the region. Beklemeto is 15km away from Troyan. There are a couple of chalets and one ski run. The resort is particularly suitable for beginners, all winter sports fans who appreciate the tranquility and, last but not least, it’s a favourite destination for all of us who cannot live without the mountainous freshness. Mineral springs are also something that the region of Troyan is famous for. Don’t miss the chance to visit Shipkovo and Chiflik where you will find peace and happiness, you will feel relieved owing to the healing properties of the mineral water.
