Olymp Hotel

On the Olymp Hotel.

It is good to see that the detractors from this hotel in the past whom were part of a kind of conspiracy have been highlighted for this.

It wasn't their faults, it was just an attack on the hotel set up by a number of sick persons whom forced themselves upon the visitors (involving me also) who then posted comments. And it is as not understood by me as I suppose what I describe would neither be understood by most persons.

The Olymp is a simply nice and simply lovely hotel to a place offering a simply divine, simple, normal stay. A perfect hotel stay for people whom don't want any fuss and love hotel hospitality, freedom and anonymity: a hotel not a grand personal care instituion so not to confuse it with luxury hotels, in another category being a perfect hotel visit.
(The personal care here if sought is lovely and charming itself further.)

There is no cause for concern at this hotel, it delights most people by the time they have left as a result, and it is a warming, humanly outlayed and fully uncomplex place to stay of warmth of care, respect and attention.

For persons acknowledging that the rooms are adequate, cosy or comfortable, it should be reckoned that a stay will be completely pleasant. The hotel does not assume beyond its stations, it's hospitality is utterly genuine and of wise, loving humanness so any notions like that are irrelevant.

Stella whom has commented before this this year, since the old, conspiratorial comments have been left behind, truly and thankfully, suggested that the category is (!) 3 Stars Plus. This is perfect, it in another world from the possible sudden safeness of sterility of assumptions of four star hotels, I think (nearly always false assumptions but these even have no place here). The hotel makes a lovely new identity of the fact that its rooms are smaller than most four star hotels.

Whilst not only will it be hard to discern what else the hotel could have which would make it not just a 'four star hotel', but a very good one, the visitor will realise when they begin to love for the visit the smaller room that the character and pleasantness of the hotel gives at least the reward of a four star hotel.

The facilities are not only adequate for a good four star hotel, they are in a lovely way characterfully stylish. This is a cool and personally respectful, personally attatching place. The food is good to very good, sometimes seeming perfect to me (give it a chance). Especially if you try other restaurants in the resort with more obvious and familiarly presentable food, you wll appreciate very much the food in the Olymp also and particularly (I pretty much guarantee).

Borovets now has many very good and exceptional places of accommodation. This is one, cheaper than the luxury places, and a really personally delightful and rewarding place to stay, accepting the small medium sized hotel rooms.

Though it is a brilliant base also to explore the restaurants, cafes and bars, discos and clubs of the other accommodation places. It is also a building or two away from the main gondola, five minutes trot by the icy pavements, but in the other direction the same time from the main chairlift slopes of the lower mountain parts. Shops and coffee and tea huts and bars (herbal tea very popular) are a few minutes from the door also, in both directions.

For me the swimming pool and facilities of The Olymp are as attractive or moreso in their characterfulness at times as The Samokov and The Rila hotels.

Olymp Hotel

We stayed in this hotel for Christmas and I could say for sure rooms are changed! We had booked standard rooms with terrace, well, everything was basic, but new and clean. Kids really enjoyed playing outside the hotel, it was safe around. Food hot although really strange, when we asked a waiter he said that were Bulgarian dishes. Hopefully next year we will go for the upgraded rooms. Lovely nature around hotel, really nice locals everywhere. MAMACITAS serve delicios English breakfast!

Olymp Hotel

My Husband and I plus our 2 teenage sons stayed at The Olymp last week. Although the reception area looked smart we had a shock when we opened the doors to our bedrooms as they were so tatty. Stains and rips in the carpet, damaged and broken furniture, radio in pieces, stains on the walls and leaking radiator valve. The door frame and door also looked as though it had been forcably opened at least six times and it was hard to see how the door stil locked as the lock and screws were partly exposed. On the plus side: warm room, plenty of hot water and clean bedding & towels. Hotel sports facilites were a bit tired. Table tennis room freezing as window broken. Swimming pool was dirty with a line of grime all around the water level. ( A local advised not to swim in it). Food was okay with quite a choice and there was always some fresh fruit although you had to eat early otherwise the best things ran out. Offered alternative rooms mid week on 5th floor where it looks like they have started to refurbish but still same old shower rooms and less damaged furniture +slightly newer stained carpets. Although fan in shower room worked!
Resort excellent as was skiing. Very crowded as half term and mainly English families.

Olymp Hotel

january 2005 returned from staying in Borovets. Skiing and instructures were superb. Stayed at Olymp hotel booked by Crystal. Down graded from **** to ** prior to departure with the reassurance from Crystal that the hotel was still of a high standard. On arrival green fungus on walls. Water leaking through ceilings from which the plaster was falling.Spoke to other guests who stated bathrooms filthy and unusable! Even though we booked half board, food scarce and what there was contained hairs and glass! Crystal rep unatainable. Apparently the hotel owners refused to upgrade and repair hotel despite other hotels in the area conforming.

Olymp Hotel

I went snowboarding at Christmas with my family (dec 04) and we had an amazing time. The hotel itself is quite possibly the worst based on rooms but the food was superb and after the first day we were really well settled in. It was a bit of a trek into town but the great pool and other facilities certainly made up for it. For lunch and the evening i recommend Franco's and also Buzzbar altho cocktails101 brings back some er, interesting altho slightly vague memories

The hotel was very austere and the food was CRAP! Boiled eggs, toast & coffee were good though, but if your staying there DON'T go full board! We found out that the owner of the hotel is the head of the Bulgarian military, so that would explain the menu! Good place if you don't plan to stay in, which is easy!

Olymp Hotel

I would not recommend staying at the above hotel, although it is supposedly 3 star. It is situated at the top of a piste which you have to walk down to get to the village - it makes for a very tiring holiday before you have even started skiing - a particular nightmare if you have young children who are too tired to walk back up the hill in the evening after a meal out. The Rila and Samokov Hotels are far better. The beds at the Olymp were rock hard, the bathroom was appalling, and the food was awful. But having said all that, if you ate in the town the food was really good. Mamma Cita's even do a 'british breakfast' if you are desperate for good old eggs and bacon. The Katy's Bar was a good place to eat and also The Blue restaurant which does an excellent steak.

Recommend trying out the ski-doos which we booked through our rep. We also booked a trip on our last day to Sofia, but it's best not to rely on Sofia to purchase lots of pressies before you come home as there really isn't that much to buy, there is more choice in the village of Borovets.

In the village of Borovets the ski clothes are dirt cheap, chess sets, kids designer wear (No Fear, Vans etc) and well worth buying if you can stuff them in your suitcase.

Overall a good holiday, just beware which hotel you book and don't bother eating the food at the hotel.

You can buy stamps from the supermarket which is about 2 minutes walk from Hotel Rila. And you can then hand any post over to the reception at the Samakov who will gladly post them for you.

Beautiful country, lovely people - good holiday.

Plus the Bulgarian's idea of a sleigh ride, is actually a horse and cart, which was a slight disappointment.

The hotel itself and the food were just as everyone else had said - pretty awful. They should really just do Room Only because the local bars and restaurants do excellent food and are ridiculously cheap.

Olymp Hotel

The Hotel Olympia was warm but very basic, the food was dreadful but this was standard throughout the resort hotels - thankfully the resort was packed with restaurants that were fantastic and a three course meal with drinks cost about ?6! The hotel was close to the main gondola, nightlife and the ski depot but involved a walk down the slopes to get there.

Olymp Hotel

It was in March 2001 that I visited Borovets in Bulgaria. There was a large group of 16 that all went together, including myself. We stayed in the Hotel Olymp. My first impression of Bulgaria was bad due to the sight of poverty around us during our transfer, although this all changed when we actually got into the resort. This place was fantastic. The hotel itself was extremely basic, but was clean and the maids came in once a day to make the beds and change the towels (a plus point for me). One thing that did strike me though was how extremely rude the staff were. It was very rare that help was offered when asked for. It is right what every one else has said though, the food is appalling and you will probably find that eating out is much more satisfying. The whole holiday however was the best and our ski instructor was absolutely fantastic. Alex, you truly are the best!!!!
The night life is good and if you like karaoke there are a couple of bars to suit your taste, well it suited all ours anyway. Try Peter's Bar.
